5 Cam Switches ECOMY RANGE Exploded view of a two chamber BN cam switch NEW VN and V3N switches Elektra BN series cam switches The BN cam switch design features two half shells that carry the fixed and moving contacts. These contacts are operated by cams which are fixed to a steel shaft. This shaft is non-adjustable. The steel shaft ensures positive switching, while over-switching is prevented by steel detents and stop washers. The simple assembly with few compact parts gives the switch not only a higher mechanical strength, but also imptant advantages in economy. The BN series is available in the single rating of amps AC (static load) and 5.5 kw AC 3 (mot load). By utilising from one to four chambers the BN range are available in on/off switches ( to 4 pole), changeover switches ( to 4 pole), reversing and speed switches, and ammeter/voltmeter switches. Elektra VN, V3N range of cam switches The new range of VN and V3N cam switches replaces VN and VN3 respectively. They take into consideration the International standards VDE 66 and EN , back of hand protection, accding to DIN 57 6 with opened connecting terminals the VN/V3N may be used as control, instrument, mot and main switches. VN/V3N use all common accessies. The VN range is available in 7 frame sizes rated as follows - AC /AC 3 5 amp/ kw, 63 amp/3 kw, 5 amp/55 kw, 5 amp/75 kw, 5 amp/9 kw. As with the BN switch, the VN range is constructed with a steel shaft to give reliable operation into the future. Also, the contact chambers are well sealed against the ingress of dust which can cause contact failure in other switches.
