It is great to have our Data Base Manager Alan Stalker back on the committee after a break of several years. Also newly appointed is Liz Raggatt. Liz and husband Trevor have been staunch supporters of the club for many years and can often be seen cooking barbies and making things in general happen. Liz is also the Manager of Prix Cars, so if you are looking at getting a car transported Liz is your gal. Our total membership now stands at 114. The Katherine Toy n Tucker Run and Show n Shine was another huge success with around 90 vehicles participating. There were 8 cars and 10 members from our club and with a total of 34 vehicles from Darwin that attended for another top weekend. The Katherine Country Club venue worked a treat. It was unfortunate I couldn t stay for the night time get together as I had to be back that night for the NAMSC presentations. We do need just 2 of our 114 members to take on a couple of roles so be a part of this progressive club, climb on the CHCC roller coaster. See you all at the Club Xmas Party on December 9th. WANTED A member to take on the role of Newsletter editor in chief. A great role providing tremendous satisfaction. Retired editor Wilko, is more than happy to show someone the ropes. No formal application necessary just a phone call to Nicole or John and the job is sorted. A big thank you to Nicole for putting this one out. WANTED A volunteer to be Chairman for the Variety Australia Day Ute Run Committee for the 2018 event as I will not be available after the 2017 event. The template is in place to follow and the organising for the 2017 event is done. This is an event started by a CHCC member about 16 years ago and your club has taken over the running of this community event on behalf of Variety. This is a great community service project our club is involved in so why wouldn t you want to be an integral part of it. QUICK Please give me a call and beat the rush!!! AGM Sunday 18 th September - Numbers were down a little however by all accounts those that did turn up had an enjoyable experience.

After a brief stop for coffee at the caravan stall we set off for the Hidden Valley club rooms. The meeting went off without a hitch.

There is a slight change on the committee, Grant Mauger and Mal Janes retained their positions and Alan Stalker was elected.

3 AGM Sunday 18 th September - Numbers were down a little however by all accounts those that did turn up had an enjoyable experience. Starting off at the Esplanade we had a cruise to the Nightcliff Foreshore. After a brief stop for coffee at the caravan stall we set off for the Hidden Valley club rooms. The meeting went off without a hitch. The executive remains the same with John Palamountain as President, Nicole Kennedy as Secretary/Public Officer and Ian Campbell as Treasurer. There is a slight change on the committee, Grant Mauger and Mal Janes retained their positions and Alan Stalker was elected. Alan was a former Committee member and has been maintaining the clubs data base for many years. Wilko Van Syl stood down for a bit of a break however remains dedicated to the club and will still organise a few favourite runs/events throughout the year. 4 The Katherine Show n Shine is something I look forward to every year, in fact I have been to nine of them over the years. Winners are grinners Jack Burr scored Best Australian. For me it was the usual, departing United Coolalinga at 8.30am. Included in the gathering was Kerry Kyriacou in the Torana, his brother John in the Monaro, Nick Simeon in the Commodore with a rouge XD Falcon to complete the mix. The run down was great with some rather spirited driving in the overtaking lanes. We got to Katherine just before lunch with enough time to check in to Knotts Crossing Resort before the Show n Shine started. This year the Show n Shine was held at the Katherine Golf Club, considering the heat (did I mention it was HOT!!!). It was the perfect venue with the opportunity to have lunch in the air-conditioning. After the show we had a convoy out to Denis Hannah s place about 25km s south of town and well worth the effort. This place is amazing with all the relics from yesteryear. MVEC Katherine members then put on a really amazing night at the club house, huge assortment of food, including desert was laid out and quite a few beverages consumed. The best part about staying at Knotts Crossing is that it s a short stagger home across the old airstip. Not much fun carrying an esky though A few late night revelers adjourned to the resorts pool for nightcaps and a few yuke tunes until the wee hours. Sunday breakfast was once again sensational with all you can eat bacon and eggs and left over deserts. Then for a quick blast home, with a brief stop at Adelaide River to have us home by lunch time. All great weekend was had by all. See you there next year CHCC News November
