I hope you have had a chance to experience some of it. May 2011 Our first contest of the season was split between Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1 st. Pilots could fly the Easy Star and Trojan events either day, but the Slow Stick Combat was run on Sunday, hoping for some lighter winds. The winds were up, but manageable. Attendance both days was quite good. See elsewhere in this issue for the results. Our first SEFLI night fly will be coming up on Saturday June 18 th. The club will supply free Pizza/salads/soda to all that attended. So tune-up those night flyers! Dinner will be served around 7PM, so don t be late! I am unsure there will be a movie this month, but there will definitely be one at July and August night flys! It would be nice to know who was coming so I can plan the proper amount of food. Please me or call with a number in your party. Also by the time you read this, we will have opened up registration for the 2011 NEAT Fair. Those who plan on working the show, please get out to the site and sign up ASAP. If your plans change between now just me with the changes. Workers that plan on being available all day should put no preference and 8 hrs in the box assuming they will be there by 9am and staying at least until 5pm. Use the time boxes only when you will arrive late or leave early on any particular day. Sign up for the Friday night dinner (free to those SEFLI members who work the show) and as a pilot too. SEFLI workers get a free T-shirt or hat at no charge but you may order both on the site and pay for one (our cost). Please put SEFLI (in all CAPS please) in the comment field of EVERY form and ignore any that says to pay. If you (or a family member) are not flying then use just the dinner form and put SEFLI in the comments field. Please sign each family member up separately. 2 Show and Tell Photos By Tom Hunt PAGE 2 Jim Reid shows off his nearly complete "Daddy- O" from a Bill Stevens (Stevens Aeromodel) Kit. The model is covered in Solite and powered by an Eflite 15 and a 3s-2100 battery. The model has since been flown and flies extremely well. Joe Santangelo brought in his new CMP T-45 ducted fan. He related that it needs quite a bit of work for an "ARF". Nick Furio could not pass up a great deal on a World Models Aure powered sailplane. 79.5" span comes with brushless motor and prop for only $99! The 3 lb model flies adequately on only 151 input watts.

3 Show And Tell PAGE 3 Prez Tom brought by his nearly finished and extreme-makeover bash of the FMS/Airfield (from Nitroplanes) BF-109. The model is complete with electric retracts, flaps and scale-like prop. The model has since been finished and flown. She weighs in at 6lbs with a 4 cell 3200mah li-poly. The driving force is a Turnigy with a Castle ESC and external BEC If you haven t done so you should check out Toms blog on RC Groups. It can be found here. There is a lot of great info on modifications, techniques and finishing tips. Rick Cascella brought in his 3D Hobby Shop 48 VR1 (Velox Revolution1) inspired by the full scale plane of the same name. As you are aware Rick is a Mole for 3DHS and at every turn promotes there quality and design. Rick is running this on a Dualsky motor, Castle Ice 50 Speed controller and a 4S HS 65 MG s in the wings and HS 5085 digitals for the tail. An AR 600 RX round out the package. Rick has stuck with his Spektrum but is in the process of converting everything over to the X factor. At 3lbs and 500 watts Rick probably makes it sing

4 PAGE 4 From The Field Contest Day At Calverton If you didn t already know spring is here. And with that comes the Calverton contest series. Trojan Wars SSC (Slow Stick combat) and Easy Star events make up the series. You can compete in all or just one event and the events are 3 rounds per contest day. This year for the 1st rounds we had an excellent turn out. The results are cumulative over multiple months and even if you miss one month consistency will over rule. As a new pilot with not the greatest skills I was skeptical but was convinced to join and I am glad I did. I had a great series in Trojan Wars and placed tied for 4th at the end. So grab your T28, Slow Stick, or Easy Star and come on out. I promise you will have a great time. This months results are on the back page. Slo-Stick combatants anxiously awaiting the first big mid air of the season.
