This edition features the HTC Drive-In Night and the Mannum Dazza Cruise, as well as informing you of upcoming events and activities. Congratulations go to Peter Saliba and Peter Van Loggem for having their cars voted by fellow members to be jointly awarded the People s Choice Award at the Dazza Cruise. Their details will be immortalised in HTC History as they share the Perpetual Trophy over the next 12 months. A special thankyou goes to Mick Gallagher for providing his services and the tow vehicle for the BBQ provided on the day. The April event sees the club head to the Railway Park at Morphett Vale. The destination has a special meaning to a log time HTC member Mike Morrell, who volunteers his time for the enjoyment of numerous families that visit the park. The $6.00 admission fee will see the HTC Crew ride the trains for the day. I can t wait to see our rev-heads sitting back as passengers riding around on miniature trains. This year marks the next instalment of All Torana Day. All Torana Day IV, is being held on the 9th of November 2014 at the Lockleys Primary School Oval, Lockleys. Preparation is well underway, with this years event promising to be the best to date. As always we will be seeking volunteers to assist on the day. Please contact the club to pledge your support. Stay tuned for future updates and notifications re- garding All Torana Day IV. Cruises and activities are planned into the coming months. The March HTC Meeting made special by a guest appearance by Mr Roger Cook, the ex Chairman of the Clipsal 500. Roger gave an insight into the politics, dedication and running of SA Premier Motorsport Event from its inception to current day. 4 Page 4 February Event Pictures... HTC Drive-In Night February 2014 The event for February was an outdoor movie night at Mainline Drive-in, Gepps Cross. The night was cool and overcast with light showers being forecast. The brave Members arrived at the meeting point at Enfield, before making the short drive to Gepps Cross to line up before entering the Drive-In Theatre. We all gathered together as a group rear of house and lined up our chairs, blankets and pillows in front of the cars. Once everything was in place, the group mingled to chat and compare snacks and treats before the movie started. The first movie showing was Frozen which was a comedy animated adventure and was a quite an enjoyable movie. The special effects of cold wind and rain were very realistic, something not unlike a theme park. The second movie of the night found most of us taking shelter in our cars as the rain continued to fall to watch Robocop. Robocop was a action packed sci-fi crime movie, and well worth staying up till 1:00 am. Thanks to all that attended. Don t forget to check the HTC website and your newsletter for upcoming events. 5 Page 5 March Event Pictures... Mannum Dazza Cruise March 2014 It was a fine sunny morning for the start of the Annual HTC Dazza Cruise setting off to our destination the River Murray township of Mannum. The Annual event is held in memory of late member Darryl Caine. In remembrance of Darryl, the Members Choice Trophy is awarded to the favourite car as voted by the members participating on the day. With the good turn out, voting of the award provided many fine cars to choose from. Before leaving for Mannum the voting slips were handed in and counted with the winner to be announced later in the day. The cars made their way through the town of Gawler and on to the Barossa Highway to Sandy Creek and Williamstown. From there to Mt Pleasant, Tungkillo, Palmer and then on to the banks of the River Murray in Mannum. The HTC barbeque was quickly fired up and it wasn t long before we were enjoying our lunch and drinks supplied by the club. It was the first club run to christen and show off the new HTC banners, which were displayed in style. As the afternoon passed, it was time to announce the winner of the Members Choice Award. The winner for 2014 was a joint effort resulting in a tie. Peter Van Loggem with his LC Torana and Peter Saliba with his LJ Torana... Congratulations guys...
