15 Specific Product Precautions 1 Be sure to read before handlin. Refer to front matter 5 for Safety Instructions and paes 13 to 1 for Fittins and ubin Precautions. Warnin 1. ake sure to confirm the specifications. Please do not use with pressures or temperatures outside the rane of specifications, as this may result in damae and malfunction (Refer to specifications). SC takes no responsibility for damae incurred by use in excess of the specification rane. 2. Prohibition of disassembly and modification Do not disassemble or modify (includin additional machinin) the main body. False use may cause an injury or accident. 3. Confirm that PFE can be used in application. hread sealant contains PFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) powder. Confirm if the use of it may cause any adverse effect in the system.. Cannot be used as a stop valve that requires zero leakae. A certain amount of leakae is allowed durin operation. 5. Series KK and Series KK cannot be connected with Series KKA. Also, SC s S coupler cannot be connected with quick couplers of other brands. his will cause leakae, damae, and disconnection of the plu. With series KK13, manufactured by RECUS AG, verify the manufacturer of applicable couplers before use.. Do not couple or uncouple the S coupler durin pressurization or while residual pressure remains. he coupler may shoot out under the influence of the pressure. 7. Never apply pressure to an S coupler without check valve when it is uncoupled. he pipin may move violently and cause daner.. An S coupler without check valve experiences leakae of fluid inside pipin when it is uncoupled. Pay special attention in usin fluid that can cause daner such as fluid of a hih temperature and pressure. Additional use of a stop valve is recommended. 9. he S coupler is heated when used at a hih temperature. ake precautions not to touch it since touchin it can cause burns. Caution Selection 1. For a plu and socket connection, select a plu and socket with the same body. If their body s are different, they cannot be connected. his will cause leakae, damae, and disconnection of the plu. Insertin a plu other than the specialized plu into the socket may result in equipment damae. 2. Do not use in locations where the connectin threads and tubin connection will slide or rotate. he connectin threads and tubin connection will come apart under these conditions. 3. Do not use couplers with flammable, explosive, or toxic substances, such as as, as fuel, and refrierant. hey may leak from inside the tubin to the outside.. Operate with a sure pressure of no more than the maximum operatin pressure. If the sure pressure exceeds the maximum operatin pressure, it will cause damae to couplers and tubin. 5. Do not use the S coupler with steam. Corrosion of the metal material and deterioration of the sealin material may result from lon-term use with steam. Warnin 1. ount and operate the product after readin the instruction manual carefully and understandin its contents. Also, keep the manual where it can be referred to as necessary. 2. Ensure sufficient space for maintenance. Be sure to allow the space required for maintenance and inspection. 3. ihtenin torque When installin the products, please tihten the screw with the recommended tihtenin torque.. Durin use, tube deterioration or damae to fittin can result in disconnection of the tube from the fittin and uncontrollable behavior of the tube. o stop the tube from oin out of control, use a protective cover or fix the tube in place. 5. Do not use couplers where rotation normally occurs. he couplers may be damaed.. Avoid applications in which vibration or shock is directly applied to the fittins. 7. Fittins with sleeve lock mechanism must be locked durin operation in order to prevent sudden disconnection.. Install a stop valve at the supply pressure side of the socket. Emerency shutdown may not be possible without it. Caution ountin 1. Preparation before pipin Before pipin is connected, it should be thorouhly blown out by air (flushed) or washed to eliminate cuttin chips, cuttin oil, and other debris from inside the pipe. 2. Wrappin of pipe tape When screwin in the pipes or fittins, make sure to prevent cuttin chips or the sealin material on the threaded portion of the pipe from enterin the pipin. Also, if pipe tape is used, leave about 1 thread rides exposed at the end of the threads. Leave approximately one lenth of screw exposed Wrappin direction Pipe tape 3. Excessive drainae Compressed air containin lare amounts of drainae can cause malfunction of pneumatic equipment. As a countermeasure, install an air dryer or drain catch before the filter. 2. Drain flushin If the drain removal from air filter is missed, drain will be flown out to the outlet side and may result in a malfunction of the pneumatic equipment. When removin drain is difficult, use of a filter with an auto drain is recommended. Refer to SC's Air Cleanin Equipment catalo for further details on compressed air quality. 3. Use clean air. If the compressed air includes chemicals, synthetic oils containin oranic solvents, salt or corrosive ases, etc., it can cause damae or malfunctions in the system. Caution 1. Install an air filter. Install an air filter upstream, near the valve. Select an air filter with a filtration deree of 5 µm or finer. 2. Compressed air containin lare amounts of drainae can cause malfunction of pneumatic equipment. As a countermeasure, install an aftercooler, air dryer or drain catch. 3. Ensure that the fluid and ambient temperature are within the specified rane. If the fluid temperature is 5 C or below, the moisture in the circuit could freeze, causin damae to the seals and leadin to equipment malfunction. herefore, take appropriate measures to prevent freezin. Refer to SC's Air Cleanin Equipment catalo for further details on compressed air quality. Warnin Air Supply Operatin Environment 1. Do not use in atmospheres of corrosive ases, chemicals, salt water, water, steam, or where there is direct contact with any of these. 2. Do not use in direct sunliht. 3. In locations near heat sources, protect aainst radiated heat.. Do not use in locations where static electric chares will be a problem. Consult with SC reardin use in this kind of environment. 5. Do not use in locations where spatter occurs. here is a daner of spatter causin a fire. Consult with SC reardin use in this kind of environment. Warnin Operatin Environment. When connectin a plu, insert it securely until a click sound is heard from the socket. After the connection, ently pull the plu to see whether it will release. If not securely inserted, the plu may pop out due to the pressure. Also, do not touch the sleeve until the plu is securely inserted. Otherwise, it may lead to a malfunction. 3. When connectin the plu, insert it straiht into the socket. If not inserted straiht, the socket and/or plu may be damaed or cause a malfunction.. When releasin the plu, hold it securely. he connection pipe may move due to reactin stress and/or residual pressure on the plu side. 5. Do not press the inside of the socket with an incompatible plu and/or with a stick. he internal fluid may be ejected and cause a danerous situation. When cuttin the tubin, use tubin cutters K-1, 2 or 3. Do not use pinchers, nippers or scissors, etc. If cuttin is done with tools other than tubin cutters, the tubin may be cut diaonally or become flattened, etc. his can make a secure installation impossible, and cause problems such as the tubin pullin out after installation or air leakae. Allow some extra lenth in the tubin. (2) Outside diameter of polyurethane tubin is swelled by applyin internal pressure. As such, it may be that the tubin cannot be re-inserted into a one-touch fittins. ake sure to confirm the tubin outside diameter, and when the accuracy of the outside diameter is more than , insert into a one-touch fittin aain, not cuttin the tubin to use it. When tubin is re-inserted into a one-touch fittin, make sure to confirm that the tubin was able to o throuh the release bushin smoothly. (3) Grasp the tubin, slowly push it straiht (0 to 5 ) into the One-touch fittin until it comes to a stop. () After insertin the tubin, pull on it lihtly to confirm that it will not come out. If it is not installed securely all the way into the fittin, this can cause problems such as air leakae or the tubin pullin out. (5) When attachin tubes, resin plus, metal rods, etc., do not push the release button while attachin. Also, do not push the release button before attachin. his may cause releasin. 2) Detachin of tubin (1) Push in the release bushin sufficiently. When doin this, push the collar evenly. (2) Pull out the tubin while holdin down the release bushin so that it does not come out. If the release bushin is not pressed down sufficiently, there will be increased bite on the tubin and it will become more difficult to pull it out. (3) When the removed tubin is to be used aain, cut off the portion which has been chewed before reusin it. When usin a nut fittin, insert the hose all the way to the end and securely tihten it with the nut. When the insertion of the hose or the tihtenin of the nut are not sufficient, the hose may slip out. 2. Disconnection may occur dependin on the material or the O.D. accuracy of the hose; therefore be sure to confirm the applicability of the hose. Caution andlin of Fittins 1. ihtenin of the 5- connection threads 1) ihten it by hand, then ive it an additional 1/ turn with a wrench. As a uideline, the tihtenin torque should be 1 to 1.5 N m. 2) Over tihtenin can cause damae to the threads and/or air leakae due to deformation of the asket. 3) Insufficient tihtenin can cause the threads to loosen and/or air to leak out. 2. ihtenin of the fittins with a sealant 1) ihten fittins with sealant usin the proper tihtenin torques in the table below. As a rule, they should be tihtened 2 to 3 turns with a tool after first tihtenin by hand. (2) Remove the sealant material that is separated and adherin to a removed fittin with air blow, etc. If the separated sealant enters into nearby equipment, it will cause air leakae or malfunction. (3) When the sealant is no loner effective, wrap sealant tape over the sealant material and re-use the fittin. Do not use a sealant material other than sealant tape. 5) In cases where positionin is required, turnin the fittin in the reverse direction after tihtenin will cause air leakae. Precautions on Other ubin Brands Caution 1.
