Through research, artificial insemination, data analysis, and constant focus, our modern day dual-purpose bloodlines have proven to enhance sheep industry profits. We emphasize quality wool production, lambing rates, hardiness, longevity and herding instinct, among others, as profitable production traits. Rafter Seven offers 300 high-quality purebred Merino and our Rafter 7 Line of Merino X Rambouillet rams, both yearlings and two year olds. Our yearlings offer an extra year of longevity, and our two year olds provide insight into the mature wool grade of our animals, ranging from 17 to 24 micron. Immediately following the ram sale, 25 purebred Merino and 25 Rafter 7 Line yearling ewes will be auctioned. The information in our catalog provided is pertinent data as a guide to aid in your selection choice, for conception, mothering, weaning weights, and wool. i

We regularly see wool growers with Rafter 7 breeding net $15 to $20 per head more on their wool than non-rafter 7 growers. Rafter 7 wools and wool clips heavily influenced by Rafter 7 breeding are the highest valued, best quality wool in the United States. That s our wool story. 5 Directions If coming from the North from I-80: Exit I-80 in Carlin, NV which is about 20 miles west of Elko. Coming from the west, take the first Carlin, NV exit (279) onto Hwy 278 From the east, take the Carlin, NV exit 280 into town and follow road signs to Hwy 278 Once on Hwy 278, drive south about 90 miles to Hwy 50. At Hwy 50, turn east towards Eureka. The Fairgrounds is about 1.5 miles on the left. If coming from the West on Hwy 50: Look for the Fairgrounds on the left about 1.5 miles after passing by the Hwy 278 intersection. If coming from the South and East From various points travel to Ely, NV, then, travel west on Hwy 50 through Eureka. Look for the Fairgrounds about 1 mile west of town on the right. Rafter 7 iv

7 Explanation of Performance Records Yearling rams and ewes were born from April 23 May 25, Lower numbers within breed groups were the earliest born. Horn : H = Horned; P = Polled; S = Scurs of and Rearing: 1 = Single, 2 = Twin, 3 = Triplet. The yearling rams and ewes were shorn at 11 months of age. Fleece weight was obtained at shearing, and are actual weights (bellies out) not adjusted for age or other factors. Staple Length for YRL fleeces are adjusted to 12 months estimated. Side samples were obtained prior to shearing and were analyzed for fiber diameter, comfort factor (CF), and CV micron using an OFDA 2000 provided by the American Sheep Industry Association. CV micron demonstrates the quality of wool within our flock, and processing efficiency into yarn. Low CV is valued more amongst wool processors worldwide for this reason. The measurement of 19 is the international standard of quality, and USA non Rafter 7 bred wools typically range in the area of 21-24, well below the Australian standard. Rafter 7 Comfort factor (CF) is an indicator of comfort of a wool fabric when worn next to the skin. A CF of 98 or higher would be comfortable when worn next to the skin. Our records have indicated that these rams at maturity will have a fleece 2-4 microns higher than their yearling micron test. However, they are genetically capable of producing mature ewes with a fiber diameter close to their yearling fiber diameter. The rams were weighed on ust 29. v

This indicator gives additional insight to the genetics of our maternal flock and is an added assurance of twinning propensity if this is one of your key qualifiers as a buyer. The formula of pounds of lamb birthed x set market rate of $1.50 live weight + clean lb. of wool shorn x set wool market rates per micron category produced ewe revenue values of $100 to $300 per breeding aged ewe. The combined DAM REVENUE SCORE is the average revenue produce over her lifetime for her shearing and birthing performance. We continue to use this formula and similar formulas to eliminate individual nonperformers within our own flock, and highlight unique individuals and develop our genetics to produce animals that maximize your sheep revenue in the next seasons. vi
