1 Johnos Border Leicesters Hampshires and Now Poll Dorsets We have moved into a new phase of ram breeding and supplying. With the purchase of the well known local Lucerne Valley Poll Dorset stud of Murray Jones, our sheep enterprises have moved to a new level. This year with a few champion ribbons at Johnos, you will find some of the best carcass and commercial sheep available. Backed up by winning the interbreed maternal lambplan class at Hamilton in 2012with Borders, and dominating the ram classes recently in Adelaide with the Hampies, these sires are now being used in our breeding program. Our focus is for the breeding programs of our clients. For us to survive in the seed stock industry our business relies on the success of our producers businesses and that is our aim. Structural soundness, good shape on a deep carcass combined with high performance traits of growth and fertility make up the basis of our selection criteria. Harder to measure traits of milk production also remain a focus while maintaining a softer good wool cutting fleece also for improving skin quality. The industry now requires fast early growth and a moderate size mature ewe. Selecting the right Border rams can have the benefits of producing wether lambs you can finish in a reasonable time, and produce a ewe that will wean a high percentage of lambs that can be finished quickly as suckers when mated as a lamb. Our stud sires combine the traits so this can be achieved and are amongst the top performing sires in the country. These sires are well benchmarked through the use of industry trials and the young sire program in the $uperborder$ group. At Johnos we are offering 2 excellent options in your breeding programs to help maintain and improve the lamb industry in Australia. We are doing the hard work for you, consistently benchmarking our performance to keep the commercial operation simple for our clients, all you have to do is breed and feed your lambs, and the genetics provided will do the rest. We are committed to selecting and using sires of high commercial relevance. The rams will be presented in good working order with Lambplan ASBV data on most animals. 120 Border Leicester and 20 Hampshire downs and 80 Poll Dorset rams will be offered at our 15th annual Sale on the Monday 30th September 2013 at 11am.
