5 Motorstadt IROC Practice May 16th, :00am. Spartan Speedway Mason Michigan The Motorsatdt Region will hold it s annual Iroc practice at Spartan Speedway. There is a $25.00 registration fee. All participants must sign a waiver. We always need volunteers to help staff the event so bring a friend and come prepared to help out. This is your club and your event! Please Arrive at 8:00am. so we can prepare the track. After the track is set will have a drivers meeting and tech the cars around 10:00am.. If you do not make the drivers meeting you will not be permitted to run. We will walk the track and ensure everyone knows the path. Then the fun begins. We usually wrap up around 3:30-4:00 but we have the track all day. If this is your first time attending an autocross don t worry we have many veterans that can assist you in having a pleasurable experience. Thanks to Terril my wife tried it last year and had a great time. He rode with her and showed her the ropes. This is a no pressure event and all are welcome. We have loaner helmets that you can use. So don t spend $ on a helmet to find out you don t like doing this. Come try it out for $25.00 On Sunday May 17 we will meet at Okemos Auto Collection at 1:00pm and drive to Frankenmouth and dine at Zehnders. This will be a group drive through the countryside and will no doubt be a good time.

6 Presidents Message April 24 is the meet and greet at Okemos Auto Collection starting at 4:00 until 6:00, or longer if needed. In March, I attended the annual President s Meeting in Toledo. PCA Vice President Manny Alban was our guest speaker. Manny covered the results from a PCA random survey sent to 5000 members. Some results were; members mostly enjoyed tech (in the following % of order) tech info, Panorama, Region news, discounts, driver ed, rally/tours, club racing, autocross, Parade, meetings, Concours. 52% of members own a late model Porsche (99 or newer),44% purchased a year car. On the Panorama, the most popular site is The Mart, while the Tech Section is the most used. 73% own one Porsche, while 18% own 2. 90% of Porsche owners prefer Michelin tires. The club tried to set a date for the Spring Kickoff again at Harris Nature Center, but the prime dates were booked. Having a Saturday event at the dealers wasn t good, since the Service Dept. is now open Saturday. The distant possibility exhists that Spartan Speedway might be sold. It is a safe, fun, local track that the club has enjoyed for a long time. I recommend that you drive the two events we have scheduled at Spartan Speedway this year. 9 PORSCHES 2 OXFORD OPENS REGISTRATION IN ANTICIPATION OF 500 CARS Fastest-growing Porsche event in the country expected to shatter attendance records for fifth anniversary (WIRE) Anticipating nearly 500 cars, Porsches 2 Oxford opened registration for the fifth anniversary event on March 28, 2009 as fun seekers flocked to the event s web site to secure their German sports car in one of the nation s premier cruise-ins. In just 72 hours, 60 Porsche owners did just that despite months of waiting ahead for the July 25 th show. Such enthusiasm has become an event hallmark and explains why Porsches 2 Oxford sits at the top of the summer car show calendar, but organizers are no less impressed by the early response. Every time we raise the bar for attendees, they exceed the highest expectations organizers anticipate and plan for, said P2O Media and Publicity Director Chris Rieman. It s a wonderful event to plan and organize because past attendees provide the sales job to other Porsche enthusiasts sitting on the fence. Part of that is treating every attendee like a VIP with the hope that a positive experience encourages word-of-mouth advertising. We also make it a point to ensure the event is the best bargain of the summer, Rieman said. The fewer excuses we leave on the table to stay home, the more incentive Porsche owners have to grab their keys and make the drive to Oxford. Dubbed a casual Porsche party, P2O organizers host attendees in the rural college town of uptown Oxford, Ohio. Located 30 miles north of Cincinnati along the Ohio-Indiana border, the event kicks off on Friday July 24 th with friendly gatherings at local watering holes and concludes on Sunday with a road rally. Although the casual fun alongside expensive German sports cars headlines the event, P2O brings Porsche enthusiasts together to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. The event s underlying charity for the past two years, the ACS has a special connection that organizers draw inspiration from. Marylynn Roe co-founded the event in Michigan in 2003 and saw the move to Oxford in 2005, but her courageous battle with cancer was her greatest legacy, Rieman said. She passed away from cancer in 2006 but her spirit and vision remain a central rallying point for this event. The ACS is our way of paying it forward. Organizers started a new tradition in 2009 to do just that, selling prime parking spots for $100 each to benefit the local chapter of the ACS. All 40 spaces were sold in the first seven days of registration. Five dollars from general registrations also benefit the charity while 50/50 drawings throughout the afternoon complete the fundraising. We re hoping to raise $8,000-10,000 when it s all said and done, Rieman said. Porsches 2 Oxford began as Porsches 2 Pinckney (MI) in 2003 as 85 cars took part in the first-year event. The event moved to Oxford in 2005 and entertained a modest 140 cars. The attendees increased to 225 cars in 2006 and 255 cars in A record 396 Porsches made their way to Oxford on July 26, 2008 for the fourth annual event. The college town with brick-lined streets and quaint storefronts hosted attendees from 17 states and three Canadian provinces.
