READ THIS ENTIRE MANUAL BEFORE INSTALLATION & OPERATION BEGINS. RECORD HERE THE JACK AND POWER UNIT INFORMATION WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE SERIAL NUMBER DATA PLATES ON THE LIFT AND ON THE POWER UNIT Power Uni Model # Power Uni Dae Of Mfg. PRODUCT WARRANTY BendPak s Rolling Jack Lifs are covered under warrany for one year on equipmen srucure, o be free of defecs in maerial and workmanship. Power unis, hydraulic cylinders, and all oher assembly componens such as urnplaes, slip plaes, cables, chains, valves, swiches ec. are covered under warrany for one year agains defecs in maerial or workmanship under normal use. DEFINITIONS OF HAZARD LEVELS Idenify he hazard levels used in his manual wih he following definiions and signal words: OWNER S RESPONSIBILITY To mainain he jack and user safey, he responsibiliy of he owner is o read and follow hese insrucions: Follow all insallaion and operaion insrucions. Make sure insallaion conforms o all applicable Local, Sae, and Federal Codes, Rules, and Regulaions; such as Sae and Federal OSHA Regulaions and Elecrical Codes. Carefully check he lif for correc iniial funcion. Read and follow he safey insrucions. Keep hem readily available for machine operaors. Make cerain all operaors are properly rained, know how o safely and correcly operae he uni, and are properly supervised. Allow uni operaion only wih all pars in place and operaing safely. Carefully inspec he uni on a regular basis and perform all mainenance as required. Service and mainain he uni only wih auhorized or approved replacemen pars. Keep all insrucions permanenly wih he uni and all decals on he uni clean and visible. BEFORE YOU BEGIN DANGER! Receiving: The shipmen should be horoughly inspeced as soon as i is received. The signed bill of lading is acknowledgemen by he carrier of receip in good condiion of shipmen covered by your invoice. If any of he goods called for on his bill of lading are shored or damaged, do no accep hem unil he carrier makes a noaion on he freigh bill of he shored or damaged goods. Do his for your own proecion. NOTIFY THE CARRIER AT ONCE if any hidden loss or damage is discovered afer receip and reques he carrier o make an inspecion. If he carrier will no do so, prepare a signed saemen o he effec ha you have noified he carrier (on a specific dae) and ha he carrier has failed o comply wih your reques. IT IS DIFFICULT TO COLLECT FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE AFTER YOU HAVE GIVEN THE CARRIER A CLEAR RECEIPT. File your claim wih he carrier promply. Suppor your claim wih copies of he bill of lading, freigh bill, invoice, and phoographs, if available. Always wear durable work clohing during any insallaion and/or service aciviy. Shop aprons or shop coas may also be worn, however loose fiing clohing should be avoided. Tigh fiing leaher gloves are recommended o proec echnician hands when handling pars. Surdy leaher work shoes wih seel oes and oil resisan soles should be used by all service personnel o help preven injury during ypical insallaion and operaion aciviies. Eye proecion is essenial during insallaion and operaion aciviies. Safey glasses wih side shields, goggles, or face shields are accepable. Everyday eyeglasses only have impac resisan lenses, hey are no safey glasses. Back bels provide suppor during lifing aciviies and are also helpful in providing worker proecion. Consideraion should also be given o he use of hearing proecion if service aciviy is performed in an enclosed area, or if noise levels are high. 7 INTRODUCTION 1. Carefully remove he craing and packing maerials. CAUTION! Be careful when cuing seel banding maerial as iems may become loose and fall causing personal harm or injury. READ AND UNDERSTAND all safey warning procedures before operaing jack. 2. KEEP HANDS AND FEET CLEAR. Remove hands and fee from any moving pars. Keep fee clear of lif when lowering. ALWAYS ENSURE ha he safeies are engaged before any aemp is made o work on or near vehicle. 11. DRESS PROPERLY. Non-skid seel-oe foowear is recommended when operaing lif. 12. DANGER! Shu off and disconnec he air supply when insalling he Rolling jack pump and when he Pump is no in use or before breaking any connecions in he sysem. 13. MAINTAIN WITH CARE. Keep lif clean for beer and safer performance. Follow manual for proper lubricaion and mainenance insrucions. Keep conrol handles and/or buons dry, clean and free from grease and oil. 14. STAY ALERT. Wach wha you are doing. Use common sense. Be aware. 15. CHECK FOR DAMAGED PARTS. Check for alignmen of moving pars, breakage of pars or any condiion ha may affec is operaion. Do no use lif if any componen is broken or damaged. 16. NEVER remove safey relaed componens from he lif. Do no use lif if safey relaed componens are damaged or missing. 17. STEP 1 (Verifying Lif Insallaion) DANGER! IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER / INSTALLER OF THIS ROLLING BRIDGE JACK TO ENSURE THAT THE LIFT UPON WHICH THE ROLLING BRIDGE JACK IS INSTALLED HAS BEEN PROPERLY INSTALLED ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER S SPECIFICATIONS. Before insalling your new Rolling Bridge Jack, verify he following aspecs of he insallaion of he lif where Rolling Bridge Jacks are being insalled. The aspecs of he lif insallaion ha need o be verified should include, bu are no limied o; 1. LIFT LOCATION / PROPER ALIGNMENT 2. OVERHEAD OBSTRUCTIONS. 3. CORRECT FLOOR COMPOSITION/ REQUIREMENTS. 4. OPERATING TEMPERATURE. 5. INDOOR INSTALLATION ONLY. 6. OPERATION MANUALS ON HAND. 7. OPERATORS PROPERLY TRAINED. OPERATING TEMPERATURE. Operae Rolling Bridge Jack only beween emperaures of F. STEP 2 (Rolling Jack Capaciies) DANGER! The AXLE WEIGHT of he vehicle being raised should no exceed he maximum capaciy of he Rolling Bridge Jack. Consul he vehicle manufacurer for specificaions. 9 STEP 3 (Adjusing Lif / Jack Orienaion) 1. Following he manufacurer s insrucions in he lif manual, lower he lif o he ground. (If using a shop crane, you may need o lock he lif on he firs Safey Lock o make room for he legs of he Shop Crane.) 2. If adjusable, adjus he Runway of he lif o he desired widh. Be sure o check he specificaions of he lif and he Rolling Bridge Jacks o be sure ha he Rolling Bridge Jack can be adjused o he desired Runway widh. (See Fig. 3.1 & 3.2) Fig

11 STEP 4 (Insalling Jack on Rails) WARNING! When removing or moving he Rolling Bridge Jack from shipping palle pay close aenion as he Jack may move and can cause injury. Prior o removing he srapping or bols make sure he Jack is held securely by a fork lif or some oher heavy lifing device. 1. Lower he Rolling Bridge Jack all he way down. 2. Using a shop crane, forklif or oher lifing device raise he Rolling Bridge Jack and place i in beween he Runways. (See Fig. 4.1) Fig. 4.1 WARNING! Read and undersand all insrucions before using his jack. Adjus rolling jack elescoping ends unil rollers res securely on runway racks as shown. NEVER use rolling jack unless safey bracke is insalled. REMAIN CLEAR of elevaed rolling jack unless visual confirmaion is made ha jack rollers are secure on runway racks. BE CAREFUL WHEN ADJUSTING ROLLING JACK OR LIFT RUNWAYS o preven rolling jack from becoming separaed from runway racks. Failure o read, undersand and follow hese insrucions may cause deah or serious injury. 5. When he desired widh is reached, lower he Rolling Bridge Jack ino he Uiliy Rails. Double check ha all 4 Rollers are seaed properly in or on he Uiliy Rails. (See Fig. 4.3 & 4.4) Fig Lower he Rolling Bridge Jack o jus above he Uiliy Rails on he inside of he Runways. Fig Adjus he Rolling Bridge Jack Ends o he correc widh. (See Fig. 4.2) NOTE: 18-25K models do no have adjusable arms. Fig Ensure ha he Uiliy Rail Channel is clean of debris, ools ec. 7. Locae he Safey Brackes. Insall brackes on he Rolling Bridge Jack Ends using he provided M6 hardware. (See Fig 4.5) 11 NOTE: Only 4.5, 6K, & 7K models include Safey Brackes.

12 Fig. 4.5 Safey Bracke 1. Remove he hread proecor from he air inle of he Pump. Selec and insall he hreaded fiings (no supplied) which are compaible wih your air supply. The air supply should be 20 CFM (.57 M³/MIN) and 100 PSI (7 BAR) o obain he raed hydraulic pressure. Air Supply should be regulaed o a maximum of 125 PSI (8.6 BAR) (See Fig. 5.1) Fig. 5.1 M6 nus, bols and washers 8. Repea he process for he oher Rolling Bridge Jack if insalling in pairs. 9. Raise he lif up off he ground so ha he Rolling Bridge Jack is off he ground and lower he lif ono he firs safey sop if no already done in Sep An appropriae air line regulaor, waer separaor and lubricaor should be insalled on he Air Supply line. The absence of hese iems will void he warrany on pneumaic componens. (See Fig. 5.2) Fig. 5.2 ENSURE THAT THE LIFT IS RESTING ON THE SAFETIES BEFORE PROCEEDING. 10. Check he clearance and movemen of he Rolling Bridge Jack by sliding he Rolling Bridge Jack forward and rearward on he rails. Check ha he Rollers are cenered on he Rails a all poins along he rail s lengh. Adjusmen of he Rolling Bridge Jack Arms or he Runway widh may be necessary o assure proper operaion. STEP 5 (Connecing Air Supply) STEP 6 (Sar Up / Final Adjusmens) DANGER! DISCONNECT AND / OR RELEASE THE PRESSURE FROM THE AIR SUPPLY SYSTEM / HOSES BEFORE PERFORMING ANY INSTALLATION OR MAINTENANCE OF THE AIR SUPPLY SYSTEM. DANGER! THE AIR SUPPLY SHOULD BE TO 20 CFM (.57 M³/ MIN.) AND 100 PSI (7 BAR). AIR SUPPLY SHOULD BE REGULATED TO A MAXIMUM OF 125 PSI (8.6 BAR) Refer o page 20 if insalling wih he Opional Rolling Bridge Jack Airline Ki. CAUTION! DURING THE START-UP PROCEDURE, OBSERVE ALL OPERATING COMPONENTS AND CHECK FOR PROPER INSTALLATION AND ADJUSTMENT. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RAISE VEHICLE UNTIL A THOROUGH OPERATIONAL CHECK HAS BEEN COMPLETED. 1. Make sure he Pump reservoir is full using 10-WT hydraulic oil. (See page 15 for fluid level/refilling insrucions) 2. Raise he Jack WITHOUT a vehicle o check for proper operaion of he Rolling Bridge Jack. 12

13 3. Depress he Pedal on he lifing end o raise he Jack hrough he full range of he Jack. (See Fig. 6.1) Fig Raise he lif up so ha he Safey is off he Safey Sop Pin. 2. Flip he Safey Handle up Off he Safey Sop Pin. (See Fig. 6.3) Fig. 6.3 Under cerain circumsances i may be necessary o prime he Air Hydraulic Pump Uni. Refer o he manual ha came wih he pump for hese insrucions. DANGER! VISUALLY CONFIRM THAT ALL PRIMARY SAFETY LOCKS ARE ENGAGED BEFORE ENTERING WORK AREA. Suspension componens used on his Jack are inended o raise and lower he Jack only and are no mean o be load holding devices. Remain clear of elevaed Jack unless visual confirmaion is made ha all primary Safey Locks are fully engaged and he lif is LOWERED ono he Safey Locks. Refer o insallaion /operaion manual for proper Safey Lock procedures and /or furher insrucion. 4. Lower he Jack ono he neares Safey Sop Pin. When he Jack is loaded wih a vehicle make sure he Jack is resing on he Safey Sop Pin prior o performing any work on he vehicle. (See Fig. 6.2) 3. Press he Pedal on he lowering end. Noe: he Pedal can lock in he lowering posiion o faciliae lowering of he Jack. ALWAYS keep a visual line of sigh on he Jack AT ALL TIMES. 13

14 STEP 7 (Operaion) 1. Load he vehicle on he lif following he manufacurer s insrucions. To raise vehicle on Rolling Bridge Jack: 2. Posiion vehicle ires in he cener of each runway. 3. Se parking brake or use wheel chock o hold vehicle in posiion. 4. Before raising vehicle, be sure all personnel are clear of he lif and surrounding area. Pay careful aenion o overhead clearances. Deermine he proper lif poins on he vehicle by referring o he manufacurer s specificaion or an approved lifing guide. 5. Check and keep clean he Uiliy Rail channels clean of debris, ools, or oher objecs ha may hinder he movemen of he Rolling Jacks. 6. Adjus he Rolling Jack Arms so ha he lif pads will make conac wih he appropriae lifing poins on he vehicle as specified by he manufacurer of he vehicle. (See Fig. 7.1) Fig. 7.1 DANGER! VISUALLY CONFIRM THAT ALL PRIMARY SAFETY LOCKS ARE ENGAGED BEFORE ENTERING WORK AREA. Suspension componens used on his Jack are inended o raise and lower Jack only and are no mean o be load holding devices. Remain clear of elevaed Jack unless visual confirmaion is made ha all primary Safey Locks are fully engaged and he lif is LOWERED ono he Safey Locks, Refer o insallaion /operaion manual for proper Safey Lock procedures and /or furher insrucion. 9. Afer vehicle is raised o he desired heigh, lower he jack ono he neares safey lock. ALWAYS ENSURE ALL SAFETY LOCKS ON LIFT AND JACKS ARE ENGAGED before enering work area. Sop raising he jack jus as he vehicle is raised off he lif runways. Confirm he vehicle is sable and properly seaed before lifing he vehicle o he final desired heigh. To lower vehicle on Rolling Bridge Jack: 1. Before lowering vehicle, be sure all personnel are clear of he lif and surrounding area. Pay careful aenion o overhead clearances. Ensure all ools and equipmen have been cleared from under he Jack. 2. Raise he Jack off of he Safey Locks by pressing he Raise end of he pedal of he Air Hydraulic Pump. Make sure you raise he Jack o allow adequae clearance for he Locks o clear. 3. Flip he Safey Handle up o raise he Safey off he Safey Lock Pin. (See Fig. 7.3) 14

Inser a dip-sick or piece of plasic ino he ank unil i his he boom. Remove he sick and measure he amoun. The oil level should be 3 3/8 o 3 ½ inches deep. 19 Safe Lif Operaion Auomoive and ruck lifs are criical o he operaion and profiabiliy of your business. The safe use of his and oher lifs in your shop is criical in prevening employee injuries and damage o cusomer s vehicles. By operaing lifs safely you can ensure ha your shop is profiable, producive and safe. Safe operaion of auomoive lifs requires ha only rained employees should be allowed o use he lif. TRAINING SHOULD INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Proper posiioning of he vehicle on he runway. (See manufacurers minimize wheel base loading requiremens.) Use of he operaing conrols. Undersanding he lif capaciy. Proper use of jack sands or oher load supporing devices. Proper use, undersanding and visual idenificaion of safey lock devices and heir operaion. Reviewing he safey rules. Proper housekeeping procedures (lif area should be free of grease, oil, ools, equipmen, rash, and oher debris). A daily inspecion of he lif should be compleed prior o is use. Safey devices, operaing conrols, lif arms and oher criical pars should be inspeced prior o using he lif. All mainenance and repairs of he lif should be compleed by following he manufacurer s requiremens. Lif repair pars should mee or exceed OEM specificaions. Repairs should only be compleed by a qualified lif echnician. The vehicle manufacurer s recommendaions should be used for spoing and lifing he vehicle. LIFT OPERATION SAFETY I is imporan ha you know he load limi. Be careful ha you do no overload he lif. If you are unsure wha he load limi is, check he daa plae found on one of he lif columns or conac he manufacurer. The cener of graviy should be followed closely o wha he manufacurer recommends. Always make sure you have proper overhead clearance. Addiionally, check ha aachmens, (vehicle signs, campers, anennas, ec.) are no in he way. Be sure ha prior o he vehicle being raised, he doors, runk, and hood are closed securely. Prior o being raised, make sure here is no one sanding closer han six fee from he lif. Afer posiioning he vehicle on he lif runways, se he emergency brake, make sure he igniion is off, he doors are closed, overhead obsrucions are cleared, and he ransmission is in neural. Double check ha he auomaic chock devices are in posiion and hen when he lif is raised, observe he chocks Pu pads or adapers in he righ posiion under he conac poins ha have been recommended. The lif should be raised jus unil he vehicle s wheels are abou one foo off he ground. If conac wih he vehicle is uneven or i appears ha he vehicle is no siing secure, carefully lower he lif and readjus. Always consider poenial problems ha migh cause a vehicle o slip, i.e., heavy cargo, undercoaing, ec. Pay aenion when walking under a vehicle ha is up on he hydraulic lif. 19

20 DO NOT leave he conrols while he lif is sill in moion. DO NOT sand direcly in fron of he vehicle or in he bay when vehicle is being loaded or driven ino posiion. DO NOT rock he vehicle while on he lif or remove any heavy componen from vehicle ha may cause excessive weigh shif. DO NOT lower he vehicle unil people, maerials, and ools are clear. ALWAYS ENSURE ha he safeies are engaged and lowered on o he safey ladders before any aemp is made o work on or near vehicle. Some vehicle mainenance and repair aciviies may cause he vehicle o shif. Follow he manufacurer s guidelines when performing hese operaions. The use of jack sands or alernae lif poins may be required when compleing some repairs. READ AND UNDERSTAND all safey warning procedures before operaing lif. KEEP HANDS AND FEET CLEAR. Remove hands and fee from any moving pars. Keep fee clear of lif when lowering. Avoid pinch poins. ONLY TRAINED OPERATORS should operae his lif. All non-rained personnel should be kep away from work area. Never le non-rained personnel come in conac wih, or operae lif. USE LIFT CORRECTLY.
