Any reference o a Vehicle Diagnosic Teser means VCDS sofware. NOTE Once he Caliper is removed he disc is only held on by a single bol so here is no procedure for removing his, jus follow he Caliper procedure.

3 Removing and insalling fron brake pads (RS 6) vw-wi://rl/a.en-gb.a00.5a60.02.wi:: xml?xsl=3 Page 1 of 4 Removing and insalling fron brake pads (RS 6) Always use brake pads from he same manufacurer wih he same ualiy for he wo wheels on he same axle. Removing Special ools and workshop euipmen reuired Pison reseing appliance -T Mark brake pads when removing hem if hey are o be reinsalled. Reinsall in heir original posiion o preven uneven braking. When insalling brake discs, noe direcion of ravel -indicaed by arrow on brake disc- and fiing locaion -lef or righ-. Raise vehicle. Remove wheels. Do no remove he brake caliper o remove he brake pads. Unplug elecrical connecor for brake pad wear cable. Unclip brake pad wear cable. Remove bol -9-. Pull reaining pin -3- ou of brake caliper. Press brake pisons wih brake pads insalled back wih pison reseing appliance -T To do so, posiion ool -T a backing plaes of insalled brake pads and carefully press brake pads back ino brake caliper. Before pressing he pisons back, draw off brake fluid from he reservoir wih a bleeder bole. Oherwise, fluid can overflow and cause damage, paricularly if reservoir has been opped up. WARNING Brake fluid is poisonous and mus NOT be sucked hrough a hose wih he mouh.

Make sure ha pain on brake caliper is no scrached or damaged. Cauion Pad reaining spring is under ension; hold your hand over he spring o avoid risk of injury. Use a suiable punch o press second pad reaining pin -8- inwards ou of brake caliper Make sure ha pain on brake caliper is no scrached or damaged. Take brake pads ou of brake caliper. WARNING Never press he brake pedal wih he brake pads removed. Clean brake caliper. Only use mehylaed spiris o clean he brake caliper housing. Insalling Before insering new brake pads, press pisons back ino cylinders wih pison reseing appliance -T Before pressing he pisons back, draw off brake fluid from he reservoir wih a bleeder bole. Oherwise, fluid can overflow and cause damage, paricularly if reservoir has been opped up. To do so, posiion ool -T a backing plaes of old brake pads (insalled) and carefully press brake pads back ino brake caliper. If fied, pull proecive foil off pad backplaes. Inser brake pads ino brake caliper.

The damper weighs poin owards he brake disc. Inser pad reaining spring Ensure ha pad reaining spring is seaed correcly. Press one pad reaining pin -8- hrough hole in brake caliper from inside o ouside. If necessary, use punch o press pad reaining pin as far as sop. The pad reaining spring is locaed under he pad reaining pin. The spring a he end of he pad reaining pin holds he pad reaining pin in place in he brake caliper. Make sure ha pain on brake caliper is no scrached or damaged. Press second pad reaining pin -8- hrough hole in brake caliper from inside o ouside. While doing so, press down pad reaining spring. If necessary, use punch o press pad reaining pin as far as sop. The pad reaining spring is locaed under he pad reaining pin. The spring a he end of he pad reaining pin holds he pad reaining pin in place in he brake caliper. Make sure ha pain on brake caliper is no scrached or damaged. Slide reaining pin -3- hrough brake caliper from ouside o inside.

The reaining pin mus be pressed hrough as far as sop. The pad reaining spring -10- is locaed above he reaining pin -3-. Renew bol -9-. Fi bol -9- and ighen o 30 Nm. Connec brake pad wear cable. Clip in brake pad wear cable. Fi wheels ELSA/ Wheels and Tyres Guide Rep. Gr.44. Afer insalling he brake pads, depress pedal firmly several imes wih he vehicle saionary, so ha he brake pads are properly seaed in heir normal operaing posiion. Check brake fluid level and op up if necessary.

Deaching Special ools and workshop euipmen reuired Torue wrench -V.A.G Rache -V.A.G. 1332/1- Pison reseing appliance -T Raise vehicle. Remove wheels. Unclip brake hose from reainer on wheel bearing housing. Unclip brake pad wear cable. I migh be necessary o press he brake pads back wih he pison reseing appliance -T To do so, posiion he ool a he backing plaes of he insalled brake pads and press he brake pads back carefully. Remove bols Carefully deach brake caliper wih brake pads insalled. Brake caliper mus no be dismanled. Do no loosen any bols on he brake caliper. Do no leave brake caliper and brake carrier hanging from brake hose bu secure hem o bodywork using a suiable cable ie or wire. Take care ha brake hose is no damaged by weigh of brake componens. WARNING

Carefully press brake caliper and brake carrier (wih brake pads fied) over brake disc. Always use new bols -1- ETKA. Secure brake caliper wih new bols -1- (196 Nm). Clip brake hose ino reainer on wheel bearing housing. Clip in brake pad wear cable. Afer insalling brake caliper, firmly depress

Afer replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several imes wih vehicle saionary so ha he pads are properly seaed in heir normal operaing posiion. To draw off brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir use a bleeder bole which is used only for brake fluid. Brake fluid is poisonous and mus on no accoun be sucked ou wih he mouh using a hose! Check ha he brake caliper moves freely by moving i from side o side. 1 - Bol 196 Nm 2 - Brake caliper Brake caliper mus no be dismanled. Do no loosen any bols on he brake caliper.
