3 Planned Transmissin System alngwith phased develpment fr upper part f Satluj Basin and Spiti Valley (Satluj Basin) SHPs : Establishment f 66/220/400 kv GIS Pling Statin at Wangt by Mid 2014 t match cmmissining f SHPs in Bhaba Khad (57 MW) and Sangla Valley (40 MW) + LILO f 220 kv Kashang- Bhaba D/c Line and LILO f bth circuits f 400 kv Karcham Wangt-Abdullapur D/c line at Wangt. Prpsed Implementatin thrugh STU. HPPTCL prpsed t implement this substatin by Mid 2014 and they have tied up the funds frm ADB. The switchgear rating and bus capacity etc. at Wangt substatin shuld be equivalent t 4000 Amps. Kashang-I (65 MW), Kashang-II (65 MW) and Tidng-I (100 MW) : During the meeting HPPTCL stated that Kashang-I is likely t be cmmissined by Fr evacuatin f pwer frm Kashang-I, HP is cnstructing a 220 kv D/c line frm Bgtu t Kashang. Accrdingly, pwer can be evacuated thrugh Bgtu - Bhabha 220 kv D/c line. HPPTCL stated that Tidng-I is under cnstructin and is likely t be cmmissined by December Since, Tidng-I (100 MW) is due fr cmmissining in December, 2014 and Jangi Pling statin may nt cme up by that time, Tidng-I pwer shall be temprarily evacuated by LILO f ne circuit f 220 kv D/C Kashang- Bhaba line at Tidng-I HEP. These wrks shall be carried ut by HPPTCL. Later n when Jangi P.S. is cmmissined, Tidng-I - Jangi line shall be cnstructed and als Kashang Jangi 220 kv D/c line with ingle HTLS cnductr shall be established. These wrks are prpsed t be carried ut by HPPTCL. HPPTCL further infrmed that wrks fr Kashang-II (65 MW) has als been awarded and cmmissining is expected by It was suggested that Kashang- II is als evacuated thrugh 220 kv system as Jangi pling statin may nt be available in that time frame, hwever sme cnstraints may be faced during cntingency f utage f ne circuit. POWERGRID stated that establishment f Jangi Pling statin may be taken up with further stages f Kashang. Shngtng Karcham : During the meeting it was infrmed that Shngtng Karcham HEP (450 MW) is likely t be cmmissined by Fr transfer f pwer frm this prject, fllwing is prpsed: Shngtng Karcham Wangt 400 kv D/c Line (Quad HTLS Cnductr Equivalent t abut 3000MW) 18 km - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS Switchyard Capacity etc. must be able t handle abut MW pwer planned in the upstream f the generatin prject. It is prpsed that the GIS switchyard may be designed with 4000 Amps switchgear. Hwever, the cable capacity frm Pt head yard t GIS switchyard may be augmented with generatin additin in the upstream prjects. Kashang-III (65 MW) & Kashang-IV (48 MW) and Tidng-II (90 MW) HEP: Evacuatin f pwer frm Kashang I (65 MW), Kashang II (65 MW) and Tidng-I (100 MW) is discussed abve. With the cmmissining f ther stages f Kashang and Tidng, the pwer shall be injected at Jangi pling statin. The

4 Jangi Pling statin shall be established by this time frame. 5 Direct injectin t Jangi Pling statin by a 220 kv D/c line - Prpsed Implementatin by generatin develper The generatin f SHPs in the area may be injected at Rpa Generatin Switchyard Other Prjects f Spiti Valley (Satluj Basin) The generatin f these prjects can be injected at Ka Dgri Pling Statin. Frm Killing Lara (40 MW), Lara (60 MW) & Mane Nadang (70 MW), a cmbined 220 kv D/c line can be cnstructed upt Lara Sumte HEP. Frm Lara Sumte HEP(104MW), a high capacity 220 kv line (with twin Mse cnductr) can be cnstructed upt Ka Dgri Pling Statin - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS except fr the generatrs belw 50 MW. Augmentatin f transfrmatin capacity wuld be required at Ka Dgri. Space fr 2 additinal ICTs f 315 MVA (105 MVA single phase units) wuld be required. These transfrmers can be prvided prgressively matching with the generatin additin. - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS NOTE : Present / Planned system beynd Wangt statin wuld be capable f handling abut MW f pwer (t be cnfirmed with the develpment f the generatin prejcts). One mre additinal high capacity line (400 kv Quad) frm Wangt twards Haryana/Punjab shall be required which can be cnstructed thrugh the right bank f the river. B Planned Tr. System alngwith Phased develpment fr Chandrabhaga Basin The ttal pwer in this area is abut 3850 MW (cnsidering 10% verlad). Out f these prjects, tw prjects namely, Miyar & Seli are expected t cme up by 2017 and three prjects Chhatru, Reli Dugli & Sach Khas are expected by The next prject expected in this area wuld be Jispa. The status and time frame f ther prjects are nt yet clear. Based n the prgress f generatin, availability f crridrs, severe R--W cnstraints near Seli, quantum f pwer, it was cnsidered prudent t develp tw transmissin crridrs, ne twards Hamirpur and the ther twards J&K. It is prpsed that the crridr t start frm Seli HEP wuld g twards Hamirpur and the ther crridr t start frm Reli Dugli wuld g twards J&K. The crridr capacity twards Hamirpur wuld be f the rder f 2500 MW and crridr capacity twards J&K wuld be abut 1500 MW. Keeping abve bservatins in view, fllwing transmissin system is prpsed which is matched with the sequence f cmmissining f generatin prjects: CHANDRABHAGA CORRIDOR-I

6 Seli HEP (400 MW): Earlier the Prject size was 320 MW, hwever with the detailed investigatins, the prject size is revised t 400 MW. 400 kv D/c Line (Twin HTLS-Adequate fr abut 2000 MW) frm Seli t the site f 400 kv Pling Statin near Sissu /Gramphu (Pling Statin shall nt be cnstructed during this time frame) - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS Frm site prpsed near Sissu/Gramphu Pling Statin Hamirpur 400 kv D/c (Triple HTLS adequate fr 2500 MW capacity) Fr this line sectin, Rhtang Pass is t be crssed. There is abut 8-10 feet f snw at Rhtang Pass during winters and wrking seasn is very less. Fr implementatin f verhead line, SASE and sme internatinal expert wuld have t be invlved. Special design with ple type twers may be required which can be firmed up during detailed engineering. - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS Miyar HEP(120 MW) : Step up f Miyar generatin at 400 kv level LILO f ne circuit f Seli Hamirpur (via Rhtang) 400 kv D/c line (Twin HTLS) at Miyar - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS Nte : During the meeting it was infrmed that Miyar wuld cme up earlier than Seli, the line frm Miyar t Hamirpur (cnfiguratin explained under Seli system) may be taken up initially and the same can be extended t Seli. Incase f space cnstraints at Miyar switchyard, a separate pling statin wuld be required.- Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS Tignet HEP (81 MW) Step up at 220 kv LILO f ne circuit f Pattam Miyar 220 kv D/c - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS Fr Pattam & Tignet HEP transmissin systems, it is assumed that Pattam wuld be cming up prir t Tignet. In case Tignet HEP materializes befre Pattam, 220 kv D/c line and prvisin f ICTs shall have t be matched with Tignet HEP. NOTE: (Additinal system beynd Hamirpur wuld be planned based n the requirement / cmmissining f new prjects.) - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS CHANDRABHAGA CORRIDOR-II It was prpsed that the generatin prjects in the dwnstream f Seli HEP i.e. Reli Dugli (420 MW), Sach Khas (149 MW), Purthi (300 MW) and Duggar (236 MW) may be evacuated thrugh Jammu regin as these prjects are clse t that regin, there are severe R--W cnstraints frm Seli t Reli Dugli and it may nt be feasible / reliable t evacuate full 3850 MW thrugh single crridr. Reli Dugli HEP (420 MW) & Sach Khas (149 MW): Bth these prjects are allcated t L&T and investigatins fr preparatin f DPR are in prgress. As per preliminary discussins, these prjects are expected t cme up by Fllwing transmissin scheme is prpsed fr evacuatin f pwer frm these prjects: Generatin step up at 400 kv level (fr bth prjects) Reli Dugli Kishtwar 400 kv D/c (Twin HTLS-Adequate fr 1500 MW) - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS Establishment f 400 kv switching statin at Kishtwar - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS

Duggar HEP (236 MW): Fllwing is prpsed fr transfer f pwer frm Duggar Generatin step up at 400 kv level LILO f ne circuit f Reli Kishtwar 400 kv D/c at Generating statin - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS Generating Switchyard capacity t be kept fr 1500 MW at Pwer Huse. Nte: Initially sme margins may be available beynd Kishtwar, hwever system strengthening wuld be required depending n the generatin additin. - Prpsed Implementatin as ISTS Rabi basin Majr prjects existing in Rabi Basin are Chamera-I (540MW) and Chamera-II (300MW).Fr evacuatin f pwer 400 kv D/C line frm Chamera-I t Jullendher and 400kV S/Cfrm Chamera-I t Kishenpur LILOed t Chamera-II are existing. Chamera-III (231MW)and Budhil (70MW) are under cnstructin and Kuther(260 MW), Bijli hli (200 MW),Bara Bengal (200 MW), Burmur (45 MW), Hudsar (60 MW) and Kugti (45 MW) are planned. Fr evacuatin f pwer frm the prjects upstream f Chamera-II, a 400/220kV pling statin is planned near Chamera-II which is required matching with Budhil HEP with wuld be the next prject in the valley. This pling statin wuld be cnnected tchamer-ii thrugh a 400kV S/C line and t Jullundhar thrugh 400kV D/C line. The line t Jullundhar wuld be needed with the next generatin prject which is Chamera-III. A 220kV pling statin at a suitable lcatin upstream f Chamera III is als prpsed where pwer is prpsed t be pled and transmitted t Chamera-II 400/220kV pling statin thrugh three numbers f 220kV D/C lines with 1xMse cnductrs. These wuld be ptimum slutin fr phased develpment. Hwever, if there are physical cnstraints in cnstructing three f 220 kv D/C lines thrugh the valley, it may be required t built tw ns. f 220 D.C lines with 2x Mse cnductrs

9 Beas Basin The existing majr prjects in Beas basin are Malana-I (87MW) and Larji (126 MW). Pwer frm bth these prjects is being evacuated thrugh 132 kv HPSEB system. The ther majr prjects in Beas/Parbati basin are Allain Duhangan (192 MW), Malana-II(100MW), Kldam (800MW) Parbati-II (800 MW), Parbati III (501 MW) and Sainj (100 MW).Evacuatin frm Kldam, Parbati-II and Parbati-III is planned thrugh 400kV system. The transmissin lines are: Kldam-Nalagarh 400kV D/C Quad cnductr Parbati-II-Kldam 400kV 2xS/C Quad cnductr Kldam-Ludhiana 400kV D/C Triple cnductr With Parbati-III, a pling statin at Panarsa is prpsed and Panarsa-Amritsar 400kV D/C twin Mse line has been planned. The Panarsa 400/220kV pling statin was required in the time frame f Allain Duhangan and Malana-II. Hwever, as the time schedule did nt match, a direct 220kV D/C line frm Allain Duhangan t Nalagarh has been taken-up fr cnstructin by ADHPL. This line with 1xZebra cnductr has a capacity f 400 MW thrugh which Malana-II pwer can als be evacuated. Pwer frm Sainj is prpsed t be evacuated thrugh 400kV via Parbati-III. Fr this, either Sainj may adpt direct step-up t 400kV r have its wn 400/132kV substatin. The 400/220kV pling statin at Panarsa wuld still be needed t pl the pwer t be received frm Tandi 220kV pling statin prpsed in Chenab basin. As the line frm Tandi wuld be at high altitude, and there may als be need f cables in sme prtin,220kv line wuld be a better ptin rather that 400kV. The 220kV lines wuld have t be with higher cnductr specificatin say 220kV D/C line with quad Mse cnductrs.
