Developed for the industry, it interates technoloy and quality to improve the performance and safety of your applications. The breaker has a stored-enery mechanism with pre-chared sprins. Those sprins are manually chared with the front lever or electrically chared with a motor, supplied as an accessory. 7 Operation System The ABW circuit breakers operate by means of a sprin system, which can be manually chared with a front lever or electrically chared with a motor (supplied as an accessory). When the sprins are chared (situation in which the chare indicator displays CHARGED), the circuit breaker is able to be locally operated with the ON and OFF buttons. Remote operation is also possible by means of the closin and openin coils, supplied built-in the breaker. The closin coil has anti-pumpin circuit, which prevents multiple breaker closures. There is also a front indicator of the circuit breaker state: ON or OFF. OFF Button ON Button Charin lever ON/OFF Indicator Sprin Chare Indicator Reardin the installation, the circuit breakers can be supplied as fixed-mounted or withdrawable; the second version is recommended for applications in which the occasional replacement or maintenance should be done as quickly as possible. These circuit breakers can be positioned at three distinct points in the withdrawable rack: Inserted: in this position both the power and control circuits are connected. The position indicator shows CONNECTED. Position indicator Test: position in which only the control circuits are connected. The indicator shows TEST. Withdrawn: both circuits are disconnected. 14 Openin Coil This coil allows remote openin of the circuit breaker throuh electric control. This accessory is supplied as standard at voltae 250 V ac/v dc. The operation beins immediately after the circuit breaker opens and, at the end of this process, an auxiliary contact indicates that the sprins are chared. Even if the motorized drive is installed, it is also possible to chare the sprins manually throuh the front lever. The standard circuit breaker allows charin the sprin in the ON position. 15 Chared Sprin Auxiliary Contact It is supplied incorporated to the motorized drive. This auxiliary contact sends a sinal when the motor is chared. It has two open contacts: 1 used for communication in eneral, and the other used for sprins chared indication. Undervoltae Release It automatically disconnects the circuit breaker in cases of undervoltae or phase loss. 21 Communication Module The communication module is an optional item that has an I/O unit, enablin the circuit breaker remote operation. All ABW circuit breakers, with protection units A and P, are able to communicate via network, allowin the user to verify the status of the circuit breaker and operate it throuh a Modbus or Profibus-DP network. The communication module can be installed either on the circuit breaker withdrawable rack (withdrawable version) or on a DIN rail. 1. Modbus/RS485 communication: two types of Modbus communication are available for the ABW circuit breaker: Readin: for an only-readin communication, the ABW circuit breaker must be installed as slave, and another device as master; it is not necessary to purchase the ABW-CM accessory (supplied as an optional item). Control/writin: for a control Modbus communication, it is necessary to install the ABW-CM accessory (supplied as optional item). 2. Profibus-DP communication: for a Profibus network communication (readin or writin), it is necessary to install the ABW-CP accessory (supplied as an optional item), which allows the user to check the circuit breaker status and operate it. 22 Zero Arc Space (ZAS) The zero arc space is an accessory used to increase the application safety. It extinuishes the electric arc enerated to the external environment. 23 Installation of the External Current Transformer The external current transformer must be connected around the circuit breaker power supply conductors. Both output sinal conductors of the external current transformer secondary must be connected to terminals E1 and E2 of the ABW circuit breaker command connector. The current transformer has a 5 A secondary, and a conductor must be provided to connect the CT sinal to the circuit breaker considerin such current. 24 Protection Units The ABW-OCR microprocessed electronic protection units perform the protections. The ABW-OCR AZ1 unit is supplied as standard for the ABW circuit breakers, and it offers protection aainst overload (L), timed short circuit (S), instantaneous short circuit (I) and round fault (G), which are set throuh the front dials. Other models are supplied as optional accessories, allowin network communication, voltae measurement, earth leakae protection (external CT required - supplied as optional accessory) and other protections. 40 Installation Recommendations Busbar Connections Cable Connections Make sure there are no excessive mechanical forces applied to the circuit breaker back terminals. Input Busbar - Connection to the General Busbar The connector bars between the circuit breaker and the eneral busbar must be supported by insulators, avoidin the transfer of its own weiht to the circuit breaker terminals. In the fixation of these busbars to the circuit breaker terminals, tihten the M12 screw with 50 Nm torque. A Maximum Safe Distance A The forces resultin from short circuits must not be absorbed by the circuit breaker terminals.
