2 CNG Fuels Who Are We? CNG Fuels aspires to be the UK s leading owner and operator of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refuelling infrastructure Owns the UK s two highest capacity CNG stations, located in Leyland and Crewe Recently opened the UK s first Bio-CNG station that is connected to the high-pressure (LTS) grid in Leyland (J28/M6) with biomethane supplied by Barrow Shipping via Green Gas Certificates Multiple additional LTS-connected CNG stations in development CNG supplier to Brit European s off-grid daughter station located close to Scunthorpe CNG Fuels Ltd Page 2

3 Why Bio-CNG and Not Bio-LNG? Methane as a vehicle fuel can either be dispensed in a liquefied state as LNG (-161 C) or as compressed natural gas (CNG) Whilst both fuels are made up of methane, the two supply chains vary greatly in complexity, cost and operational flexibility 12-20% energy loss in liquefaction process 3-4 full time staff required to operate a large public access LNG station, same full time personnel can look after LTS CNG stations Bio-LNG Supply Chain Less Energy Efficient and Costlier Gas Production (& Distribution) Liquefaction Distribution LNG Station Dispensing Bio-CNG Supply Chain More Efficient and Economical Gas Production & Distribution Bio-CNG Station Dispensing CNG Fuels Ltd Page 3

7 Launching the CNG Price Index There is unfortunately a lack of industry transparency on the pricing of methane as a road fuel. In many cases you need a secret handshake to get reliable and updated pricing data Lack of transparency is slowing down vehicle adoption rates as there is a widespread misconception that the recent drop in diesel prices means methane is an uneconomic fuel CNG Fuels is today launching the CNG Price Index. This will be updated 5-10 days after the end of each month and will be published on our website and tweeted CNG Fuels Ltd Page 7

9 Decarbonising the UK HGV Sector There is currently no credible long-term plan in place to reduce CO2 emissions from the 400,000 vehicles making up the UK HGV fleet 100 LTS stations would cover more than 90% of typical UK trunking routes and can refuel at least 50,000 HGVs/day with Bio-CNG or CNG A small part of HGVs make up an outsize share of CO2 emissions 1 TWh of renewable gas distributed through natural gas grid and supported by GGCs can refuel 1,500 high-mileage HGVs, which would cut CO2 emissions for entire UK HGV fleet by 1-1.5% CNG Fuels Ltd Page 9

10 Summary LTS-connected Bio-CNG stations are the greenest and most economical way of dispensing renewable fuel via GGCs to the UK s HGV fleet Even in a low diesel price environment HGVs running on Bio-CNG can achieve pence/mile savings of more than 30% compared to diesel By focusing efforts on initially refuelling a relatively small number of high-mileage trunking HGVs with Bio-CNG, it is possible to achieve a disproportionally large reduction in HGV CO2 emissions CNG Fuels Ltd Page 10
