Cruisin Woodward 2014 As some of you may or may not know, for the past four years now, my dad and I have flown up to Detroit the third weekend in August to attend the Woodward Dream Cruise. It is much like the cruise on central a lot larger. About 40,000 cars can be seen in one day driving up and down Woodward Ave and some are parked on the side. This year was the 20th Anniversary of the show and the weather could not have been more perfect. It was partly sunny most of the days with highs in the low to mid 80 s and lows in 60 s. The number of people who walked around has not been released yet but over a million attended last year. Any year, make and model could be seen from new and classic Corvettes, Mustang, Camaros, Challengers, Packards, Vipers, Fiats, customs, hot rods, and more (including the new Challenger Hellcat). Like last year when there were several 2014 Corvettes running around before they were available for the public, there were about Mustangs that were being driven around. They were test vehicles as they had a test decal on the windshield. On Saturday the city of Ferndale held there annual Mustang Alley Car show where there were over 100 Mustangs on display. They had Mustangs on display including from what I could gather a Pre Production 2015 Anniversary Model as the dash plate was stamped PP07 / I hope one day some more members of the club could attend this event as a bucket list item. Enjoy some of the pics I took.

Greg Okolita s Ride430 Event For the past six years, the Free Wheel Foundation s RIDE430 team has ridden 430 miles in 4 days to raise donations for our wounded heroes. Many of these veterans have come home to only face new challenges. In six years the RIDE430 team has raised over $2,000,000 for our injured heroes. Today I would like to kindly ask for your support by sharing our RIDE430 mission with your associates. This year we have partnered with Jared Allen s HOMES FOR WOUNDED WARRIORS Foundation. The Free Wheel Foundation has allocated $100,000 to assist them as they build Army Ranger 1st Class Cory Remsburg a new home here in Gilbert, Arizona. In addition, our donations also help support the several other charities. The KNIGHTS of HEROES charity empowers children who have lost a parent during military service by providing positive adult mentorship, character development, and lasting friendships forged during an annual wilderness adventure camp. The MARSOC Foundation provides support to active duty and medically retired MARSOC personnel and their families, as well as to the families of Marines who have lost their lives in service to our nation. The foundation handles needs unmet by the government with an emphasis on building personal and family resilience and supporting the full reintegration of MARSOC Marines and Sailors following wounds, injuries and extended deployments. For more information about how you can help, please click on to my fundraising page Greg430 Thank you so much for your support, Gregory Okolita RIDE430 TEAMMATE

Fall Car Show Help ATTENTION!! Copperstate s Fall Car Show is NEXT MONTH!!! In order for the show to be a success we need your help. There are several different areas that you can assist in. From setup, to tear down, registration, judging, and getting companies to donate items for goodie bags. We are asking for your help if you can in order to make this show the best in order to honor the Mustang s 50th Birthday and the Club s 35th Anniversary as well. If you can help, please contact a board member with the area you would like to assist in. For those that would like to judge please contact me, Chris Valentino. I will be setting up some judging classes to go over some key points. And don t worry we will not be judging the undercarriage of the cars. Thank you!

Member of the Month Cont. Since this is Copperstate Mustang Club s 35 th Anniversary, it was suggested that we do some cars of the past to help celebrate. While I no longer have this car as it was sold in 1998, I will give you some background besides what is in the article from Mustang Magazine from I had a car accident in 1985 and sustained multiple injuries. One of those was a broken knee and subsequent difficulty driving a stick shift. This car is an automatic and it was love at first sight for me. It had a 351 Cleveland engine and the car was perfect as far as I was concerned. It was big and heavy enough to give me protection, small enough to maneuver and had the power to get me out of the way if something was coming at me. I miss it to this day.

Tech Talk - One Piece Headliner For those of you that have replaced or need to replace your headliner in your Mustang there is a new alternative. TMI, the interior people that provide us with upholstery for our seats, new consoles and door panels have designed a new one piece fiberglass headliner. These new headliners come in fabric covered, or vinyl covered. The beauty of this product is that you don t have to remove/re-install the front and rear windshields like you have to do with the old style factory headliner. The unit is one-piece fits into place being held up by the visor bracket/screws and mirror mount/screws in the front and clothes hook bracket/screws and rear window trim molding in the rear. You install wind lace around the sides and bring the rubber windshield gaskets over the front and rear of the new one-piece headliner. These one piece units do not look like the originals (at this time) and do not have the bow lines stitching going from left to right. This finish is either vinyl textured material, or a cloth like material that resemble a felt finish. Using this headliner gives you an additional inch, or so more head room. (Something the taller or vertically extreme people like to hear). This unit allows for installation of 3 point seatbelts. The cost for this unit is higher than the conventional unit, but installation cost is substantially less, and the fact that you gain that extra head room will appeal to some. These units are available for most year coupes/fastbacks on the early models. A great addition if your considering doing a custom or restomod interior. If you have any questions, please give me a call. Dan M. (Next month upgrading exterior lighting)
