1 JUNE OFFICERS PRESIDENT Becky Field VICE PRESIDENT Nick DiSanti SECRETARY Alyce Ancell TREASURER JoAnn Martorano MEMBER and CAR OF THE MONTH TOM MARTIN Tom Martin is an obvious choice for Member of the Month this month since his excellent Chairmanship of the Mustang Round-Up Spring Show was a huge success. This is only one of the many things he has done for the club over the years. He has been President several times and chaired several shows as well as being a part of the Max Scholarship Committee and numerous other duties. Among the many other things Tom does, he plays Santa Claus at our Christmas Party each year and does a bang-up job of it. (S-h-h, don t tell the children!) Tom can be called upon to help in any way you need him. I, for one, count Tom as a friend as I am sure many other people do. He is always sure to recognize anyone who helps in his endeavors and does not take full credit for what he does as was noted at our May club meeting and at the Car Show as well. Tom had a silver Mustang convertible in the past and now has a copper colored Mustang II. Thank-you, Tom, for all you do! SGT. AT ARMS Sarah Talahongva talahongva05@yahoo.com Written By: Becky Fields

3 THE PARKING LOT WORD FROM YOUR PRESIDENT. Our Mustang Round-Up Car Show was a huge success. Word is we had 109 cars in the show. We added a spectator choice category and allowed spectators to vote for their favorite. The idea was to have one trophy. However, we had a four-way tie and four trophies were awarded. Congratulations to our winners! Hope everyone enjoyed the show as much as I did. Just to advise you, the club T-shirts are available for those who ordered them and I will bring them to the club meeting in June and the Ice Cream Social on June 25 th. I will also collect money from those who have not paid for their shirts. I do have a few extra shirts for those of you who wanted one and did not get around to ordering them. Call me at (480) to see if I have the one you wanted. As we move into the summer, things slow down. If you would like to plan an outing for the club to get us into cooler country, please contact me. I am willing to consider your suggestions. We are looking for someone to take charge of our Fall Show which is usually at the end of October. This is generally a judged show with a banquet and hospitality night for out of town guests and ideally is held in a hotel parking lot with special rates for rooms and the banquet is usually held at the hotel. All of us who have chaired shows in the past are willing to help whoever takes on this job, so please let me know if you would be interested in chairing. We need to start planning now as hotels tend to get busy in October. There is a list of winners from the car show included in this newsletter. Check to see if any of your friends won. I want to take this opportunity to thank those who helped make the Spring Car Show a resounding success. It takes all of us working together to obtain this goal. Becky Field President NEWS FLASH On behalf of the Board and Members of the Copperstate Mustang Club, we would like to extend our sympathy on the loss of Alyce Ancell s brother. May he rest in peace! Ford recently ran a Facebook campaign to find a name for the new performance package of the Mustang V6, and after sifting through 3,000 entries, the automaker settled on Mayhem. There are some hints on the Mustang News website that what is to come of the 2014 Mustang is looking like it will be the beginning of the next generation of the car. If you have any suggestions for articles or news that you would like to see in the Newsletter, please let me know. We want to hear from you. I can be reached by smaloley@solarconceptsaz.com

5 THE FAST LANE 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake By Jeffrey Ross It doesn t get any more high performance than 800 horsepower, and Shelby American teamed up with Ford Racing to unveil its monstrous Mustang at the auto show. The 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake will come standard with 750 horsepower from the supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 although a tuned version of the car will produce an even 800 hp an increase of 170 hp over the 2010 model. The 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake starts with a base Shelby GT500 that has been reworked by the Shelby crew and numerous Ford Racing parts. Acceleration, handling and braking were all improved on the new Super Snake including adjustable suspension, a Borla exhaust system, Baer brakes and much more. With a horsepower rating equivalent to cars well into the six-figure price range, the all-new 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake starts at under $100,000 including the donor vehicle. Looking to spend a little less than that? The2012 Shelby GTS was also unveiled with a starting price in the low $30,000 range (including the donor vehicle) Mustang Pace Car Kentucky Speedway The 2012 pace car Mustangs will come in white with black cloth convertible tops, special badging and the standard 5.0- liter V8 producing 412 horsepower. The Mustangs are numbered for collectible purposes and feature unique Official Pace Car badging along with NASCAR and Kentucky Speedway logos. Ford stores placed the one-of-a-kind convertibles on sale May 11. Convertibles are equipped with a 5.0-liter, 412-horsepower V8 engine, 3.5-inch mandrel-bent exhaust, coil-over MacPherson strut front suspension as well as a custom exterior package that delivers a pedestal spoiler, side scoops and a decklid face panel.

11 ON TRACK By Tom Martin Mustang Roundup on Saturday, April 30 at Berge Ford was terrific. More than 109 cars participated. There were at least 15 cars from the Southern Arizona Mustang Club of Tucson. We appreciate their support and need to plan to support their events. Twenty three classes of stock and modified cars were offered with 66 trophies awarded. There was a new addition of a Spectators Choice Trophy which was chosen by anyone not entered in the show. The show was a testament of teamwork and support. Berge Ford contributed money for trophies and the use of their facility. Several members stepped up big time with contributions of money, time and materials. Members contacted their suppliers for door prizes and give-aways. Members served on committees and entered their cars in the show to generate funds for charities. Flexibility was also an attribute in creating the show s success. Several situations occurred to change things from our plans. This was one of the few times that we didn t have vendors or T-Shirts for sale at the show. Show Shirts are available at our meetings for a $15 donation. See Joann Martorano for more information. A new event was offered called Mustang School for our younger members, spectators, and their parents. Kids picked up a Mustang School card at Alyce Ancell s Kid s Korral. They were to find four Mustangs with the school sign on the windshield. Then the owners, Chevie Neeper, Michelle Young, Bob Ancell, and Steve Naranjo, had a conversation with the kids about their Mustang. Owners gave out stickers which were redeemed for a Mustang Pop (a candy sucker). It was hoped that this effort would create future Mustang fans. Thank you to all those who helped make this show's success. Please forgive any omissions. THANK YOU TOM MARTIN for your leadership in orchestrating a successful event. THANK YOU BERGE FORD for your continuous support!
