1 ENDURALUME The Enduralume luminaire is an efficient, low brightness unit for lighting both industrial and commercial areas. Whether it be schools, food processing areas or warehouses, this is a great luminaire in terms of energy efficiency and safety. Energy efficiency is important in today s society. The Enduralume luminaire is available in MH, pulse start or HPS lamps and also with regular or low loss ballasts. Available MH wattages range from W; HPS wattages range from W. The enclosed and gasketed luminaire is available with either a prismatic glass or acrylic refractor. Both optics provide wide spread distribution. The reflector top combined with the prismatic bottom allows minimal uplight while still maintaining good, vertical footcandles. The fixture is C/UL/US listed. HL /02

The Enduralume luminaire combines a white painted highly reflective reflector with a spun on borosilicate glass or acrylic refractor. The reflector/ refractor combination results in a low brightness appearance providing an efficient blend of horizontal and vertical illumination. The luminaire may be installed in a wide variety of environments. Its appearance and ruggedness per-mit it to be equally at home in commercial as well as industrial applications. The Enduralume luminaire, with its enclosed optics, is suited for moderately dirty environments as well as clean areas. The luminaire will provide long life and easy maintenance as required by these applications. The unique prismatic glass or acrylic refractor offers a wide choice of HID lamp types and wattages. This combination allows the most efficient system to be chosen for a specific application. 3 ASSEMBLY AREAS MANUFACTURING WAREHOUSES FOOD HANDLING AREAS COMMERCIAL AREAS DAMP AND WET LOCATIONS Warehouse lighting The Enduralume luminaire s unique design of combining an alumin-um reflector with a drop prismatic glass refractor results in high vertical footcandles. ertical footcandles are essential in stack lighting where it is necessary to read labels on boxes. Also, by having the luminaire enclosed, it meets UL requirements of containing a MH lamp in case of non-passive lamp failure. This is usually important in warehouse areas where there is the potential for a damage if lamps are not contained properly. Food handling areas Similar to warehouse lighting, an enclosed luminaire is essential for safety in food handling areas. The acrylic refractor is a good choice for this application since it still provides uniform light and is impact resistant. Metal halide would probably be the lamp of choice since color is also an important factor when dealing with food. Besides the application benefits of the Enduralume luminaire, it is a structurally sound unit as well. A polyester powder paint is applied to the die cast aluminum housing to increase the resistance to corrosion. A relamp cable secures the reflector to the ballast housing when relamping. Gaskets are located at the reflector/ballast connection and at the reflector/refractor connection to minimize dirt entering the optical assembly. ENDURALUME 3 HOLOPHANE

Quickly installed mounting plate threads onto.75 conduit and provides secure attachment for the slide on housing. Wireway cover forms a fast-splice wiring chamber. Seven stage phosphate pretreatment of the housing and reflector is followed by a sprayed on polyester powder paint, cured and baked on at 218 C. This exceeds ASTM standards for hardness, humidity, impact, and salt spray resistance to prevent cross hatch creep, fading, cracking, and other weather related deterioration. Hardware is Sermaguard coated or stainless steel. Prewired, porcelain enclosed lamp holder with corrosion resistant, nickel plated lamp grip screw shell is factory set for optimum lighting distribution. Optics support casting with fiberglass filter has an EPT gasket which compresses when the optical assembly is attached, minimizing dirt entering the optical assembly. ibration tested at.5g. 6 ENDURALUME Complete luminaire shall be Holophane catalog number. The luminaire shall consist of two sub-assemblies: ballast assembly containing the electrical components and an optical reflector/ refractor. The complete luminaire shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. as suitable for use in damp location ambients of up to 55 C as standard, (0 C for 00W metal halide with acrylic refractor). Optional wet location luminaire shall be listed for 0 C. The die cast aluminum ballast housing shall be protected against corrosion by a seven stage phosphate and deionized water rinse pretreatment followed by a sprayed on white polyester powder paint, cured and baked on at 218 C; which exceeds ASTM standards for hardness, humidity, impact, and salt spray resistance to prevent cross hatch creep, fading, cracking, and other corrosion related deterioration. Mounting hooks and loops shall be self lubricating malleable cast iron and protected against corrosion with zinc plated chromate finish. All other hardware shall be stainless steel or Sermaguard coated steel for corrosion protection. The factory installed stainless steel reflector attachment latches shall have swingover locking springs, so as to prevent accidental dislodging. A stainless steel cable shall support the optics during relamping. No tools shall be required to unlatch the optics from the housing. The support casting shall contain a fiberglass filter and an EPT gasket which is compressed when the optical assembly is latched in place. Optical Assembly The optical assembly shall encompass a 508mm (20 ) diameter aluminum reflector with a 90% reflectance, white baked polyester powder paint finish combined with a spun on dropped prismatic borosilicate glass or acrylic refractor. The refractor shall be 121mm (.75 ) deep with precisely formed prisms producing a symmetrical light distribution. Light output shall be % in the 0 90 degree zone and produce a spacing criteria. Housing shall be balanced and suitable for support from hooks or loops. A slide on wireway cover shall enclose the wiring chamber which is suitable for 90 C building wire. N Non-Disconnect Pendant and Thru-way Wiring The die cast aluminum pendant and/or thruway integral wiring box shall contain provisions for both.75 conduit and direct ceiling mounting. It shall contain an integral hinge which connects with the die cast aluminum hinge pin on the housing to support the luminaire while electrical connections are made. It shall have the same corrosion resistant finish as the housing. It shall have two cast in side knockouts, four ceiling mount drill points,.75 conduit threaded top opening, and be capable of carrying five #10 AWG conductors for through wiring. The housing shall swing up and connect to the N box by latching the captive J bolt and wing nut. Q Quick-Disconnect Pendant and Thru-way Wiring The die cast aluminum pendant and/or thruway quick disconnect wiring box shall contain provisions for both.75 conduit and direct ceiling mounting. It shall contain an integral hinge which connects with the die cast aluminum hinge pin on the housing to allow the luminaire to hang free with electrical disconnect. It shall have the same corrosion resistant finish as the housing. It shall have two cast in side knockouts, four ceiling mount drill points,.75 conduit threaded top opening, and be capable of carrying five #10 AWG conductors for through wiring. The housing shall swing up and connect to the Q box by latching the captive J bolt and wing nut without use of tools. A dead front female receptacle shall be mounted inside the Q box which will make an electrical connection with the prewired male plug on the housing. The receptacle shall be C/UL/US listed for connection to lighting branch circuits which can then be energized before the housing is attached. It shall be listed per UL-1059 (Panel Board Accessory) and UL-98 (Enclosed and Dead Front Switches) permitting the fixture to be disconnected while under load to meet OSHA requirements for relamping. AERS systems utilize the standard Holophane luminaire, designed with a modified ballast and relay. The modified ballast can operate the lamp at two input wattages. Normal input and a choice of 35% or 50% of full input for HPS, normal 50% and of full input for MH. The relay is wired to some type of contact closure (such as a sensor) through a control module allowing the luminaire to be switched between the two input wattages. The relay signals the ballast, determining which input wattage to supply the lamp at any time. This capability allows the customer to reduce energy consumption in areas when they are not in use, and realizing potentially significant cost savings in the process.
