General terms To ensure that the device works properly and will have a long service life, you have to comply with the information given in this instruction manual as well as with the operating conditions and permissible data specified in the data sheets of the control unit for process valves. When planning the application of the device, and during its operation, observe the general technical rules! Installation and maintenance work may only be carried out by specialist staff using the proper tools! Observe the relevant accident prevention and safety regulations applicable for electrical equipment while operating and servicing the device! Always switch off the electrical power supply before carrying out any work on the system! Note that piping or valves must not be removed from a system that is under pressure! Take suitable measures to prevent unintented operation or impermissible impairment! Following an interruption of the electric or pneumatic supply, provide for a defined and controlled restart of the process! Welding instructions In general, it is recommended to avoid welding work in process plants if the control units are already installed and electrically connected. If welding is absolutely necessary, switch off power in the complete network and always earth the devices in the welding area. Always ground the welding torch close to the welding point. Remove the cable of the control unit from the welding point so that the magnetic field around the welding arc does not enter the cable and damages the electronic parts..3. Connecting terminals To connect cables with the terminals at the electronic module only use short wire end ferrules without plastic collar!.4. Guarantee This document does not contain any guarantee commitment. We refer to our general terms of sale and delivery. 7 APV UK APV_CU3 ValveNet DeviceNet_UK3_0807.indd 3. General description The control unit consists of an electronic part which scans the position of the valve and provides the information as signals. For further information please study the Programners Guide for CU3 ValveNet DeviceNet. The solenoid valve is arranged in the control unit. The solenoid valve which is electrically activated, controls the compressed air. The solenoid valve is equipped with a throttling system for supply and exhaust air which provides for the reduction of the opening and closing speed of the valve. The control unit for DELTA DE3 / DA3+ double seat mixproof valves is available with solenoid valve and with 3 solenoid valves. The control unit is equipped with LEDs which ensure quick visual indication of the valve position, solenoid status and service messages. Please see chapter 6. LED indication! Connections for air and power supply are installed in the control unit together with a valve which cuts off the air supply for removal of the control unit. The control unit can be removed by release of a quick coupling. This permits fast servicing of the valve. The complete control unit is encapsulated, and all cable passages and air supplies are sealed so that the control unit complies with the requirements of IP Description of the electronic module ValveNet DeviceNet The solenoid valve and feedback signals are controlled and transmitted by an electronic module. The sensors for the upper and lower valve position consist of two Hall effect sensors or of two external proximity switches for DA3+ and DE3 double seat mixproof valves. DeviceNet General Information DeviceNet is a lowcost communication link to connect devices/ nodes to a network and eliminate expensive hardwiring. Device Net provides improved communication between devices as well as important device level diagnogstics. DeviceNet is a simple networking solution which reduces cost as well as time to wire and install industrial automation devices, while providing interchangeability of similar components from multiple vendors. DeviceNet is an open network standard. For further information please see DeviceNet Standard. Note: A thin cable can be used as a trunk. The maximum distance is 00 meters, regardless of data rate. 11 APV UK APV_CU3 ValveNet DeviceNet_UK3_0807.indd 4. Cable and power supply 4.4. Solenoid valve The solenoid valve is equipped with a manual override. The override handle cannot be locked. Two throttling seat valves provide the facility to change the opening and closing speed. Please note that the seat valve controlling the inlet air must never be completely closed. An airfilter inside the tower protects the solenoid valve. See paragraph 5.8, 5.9 and 5.0 for more details. Air supply for solenoid valves Air pressure: 6 8 bar Important: see chapter technical data 4.5. NOT element The spring force of the air actuator can be increased by the compressed air by installing a logical NOT element which directs the compressed air to the spring side of the actuator. For correct positioning. See paragraph Adapter The complete control unit consists of a control unit top and an adapter unit. The adapter unit has an adaptor and an actuator screw. These are different from valve to valve. Since the control unit can be installed on different types of valve, different adapter units are necessary. Paragraph. shows which adapter unit is used with which valve. The adapter shown in fig. is fitted with two air connectors for 6x mm air hose. It is equipped either with one (for APV DE3 and DA3+ with one solenoid valve) or with three air connectors (for APV DA3+ with three solenoids). If fitted with one air connector pos. 4 and 5 are closed with a blind plug. Setup of DeviceNet communication Definition of DeviceNet communication The DeviceNet behaviour is described in the EDS file (Electronic Data Sheet). ValveNet DeviceNet complies with the DeviceNet specification of Group only devices. The ValveNet DeviceNet supports: Poll Explicit messaging Poll data: Default baudrate: Vendore ID: 686 Device type: 0 Product code: one byte output, one byte input 5 Kbps. Revision: 3. Product name: APV ValveNet DeviceNet 5.6. Setup of slave address DeviceNet address can be set by a terminal connect to the service port on the CU. 17 APV UK APV_CU3 ValveNet DeviceNet_UK3_0807.indd 5. Functional description a b c 5.7. LEDs (pos. ) There are four LEDs which have the following functions: a) Valve position. The LED lights up for valve in activated position (a) and valve in notactivated position (a). This is used to provide information during operation and to set the position sensors. Please see 4.5. b) Lights up when there is a signal to the solenoid valve. a c) Status information 5.8. Throttling function (pos. 3a and 3b) The throttling function consists of two small seat valves placed on the base console next to the solenoid valve. Their function is to make the valve open and close more slowly. This is an advantage if there is a risk of pressure surge or if it is required for other reasons. Please note that the seat valve controlling the inlet air must never be completely closed. pos. 6. pos. 6. pos. pos. 3a Air in pos. 3b Air out pos. 4 pos Manual activation of the solenoid valve (pos. 4) The solenoid valve can be activated manually by turning the handle placed on the top of the solenoid valve. This is used to adjust the Hall sensor or to bypass the control system to activate the valve Removal of control unit from valve (pos. 5) The control unit is released by turning the ribbed ring from the lock to the unlock symbol. Then the control unit can be easily lifted off. Removal of the control unit shuts off the air supply. 5.. Adjustment of feedback indication (pos. 6) After dismantling of the control unit, check if the Hall sensors are properly adjusted. The procedure is as follows: The Hall sensors must be adjusted to transmit a signal for activated position and notactivated position valve respectively. In this case it is an advantage to use manual activation (pos. 4). pos. pos. 5 pos. 7 Turn the adjusting screws (pos. 6) up/down until the correct LED just lights up. Check if it is in fact the correct LED that lights up. To allow for small fluctuations, turn the adjusting screws two revolutions in the direction in which the LED remains lit. The Hall sensor for notactivated position is fitted on screw in groove marked pos. 6. Pressure relief valve (pos. 7) The pressure relief valve ensures that pressure does not build up in the cap Removal of the electronic box (pos. ) The electronic box can be removed by loosening two screws. One screw is placed between the two guides of the Hall sensors, and the other one is placed on the right side of the electronic box. Remove the cable (plug) from the solenoid valve. During assembly it must be ensured that the wires of the Hall sensors are not tangled, preventing them from sliding up and down unobstructed in the wire tracks Removal of solenoid valve (pos. 8) Remove the cable (plug) from the solenoid valve. Loosen the screws which are fixing the solenoid valve, manifold and gasket. During assembly it must be ensured that the gasket is positioned very precisely between the edges at the manifold.
