4 3200 SERIES OWNER S MANUAL SAFETY GENERAL SAFE OPERATING PRACTICES ALWAYS inpect your crane daily, prior to ue, for malfunction, defect, or miue. ALWAYS keep the vehicle a level a poible while loading or unloading. ALWAYS et the vehicle emergency brake before beginning crane operation. ALWAYS keep the load a cloe to the ground a poible. ALWAYS tore the crane and hook when moving the truck. ALWAYS tore the controller ecurely to avoid unauthorized ue of the crane. NEVER wing a load that pae over people. NEVER operate the crane within ten feet of a power line. NEVER exceed the rated lifting capacity. Deduct the weight of any load handling equipment from rated capacity. NEVER leave a load upended in the air. NEVER ue the winch to drag a load into poition before lifting. NEVER operate the crane during an electrical torm or when high wind condition exit. NEVER ide load the boom by dragging a load from the ide. NEVER try to ervice or repair the crane while the crane i operating. NEVER place yourelf between the load and truck or other fixed object. NEVER move the truck while operating the crane or with a load on the crane. SAFETY CHECKLIST STRUCTURAL SOUNDNESS: Inpect the unit for damaged member and looe fatener. CONTROLS: Make a hort tet for proper control and operation of all function. REPAIRS: Fix all problem before uing your crane. LEAKAGE: Examine all of the hydraulic line for fray and bliter. Look for ign of lubricating or hydraulic oil leakage. HYDRAULIC OIL SUPPLY: With the crane in a tored poition, and all cylinder retracted, check oil level in the hydraulic reervoir. 4

Read and undertand each of thee decal before attempting to operate your crane. If any decal are miing or cannot be read, contact your ditributor for immediate replacement. 5

6 3200 SERIES OWNER S MANUAL OPERATION LOAD CAPACITIES MEASURED IN POUNDS CRANE RATING : 10,000 FT./LB. DISTANCE IN FEET NOTE: Load capacitie are baed on 85% of tipping when all outrigger are extended and have firm contact with a olid urface. Vehicle mut have proper axle load ditribution and crane mut be mounted in accordance with manufacturer intruction. 6

7 OPERATION 3200 SERIES OWNER S MANUAL REMOTE CONTROL The crane remote control plug into a receptacle. The blue line on the male plug on the remote control mut line up with the flat pot on the receptacle at the bae of the crane. Puh the male plug onto the receptacle while turning the errated portion of the male plug clockwie. Continue turning until the pin on the receptacle can be een through the hole in the male plug and a click i felt. There are five witche on the remote control. Each i labeled a to the function and direction. For example: To activate the winch, puh up on the witch to winch up ; puh down on the witch to winch down. 7

8 3200 SERIES OWNER S MANUAL OPERATION The 3200 crane i deigned to provide excellent ervice if operated within the maximum allowable load pecification tated on the unit Angle Indicator Plate located on either ide of the boom. A load chart i alo included on page 5. Load information chart hould be tudied before operating the crane. Exceeding the tated load limit can caue tipping or tructural failure. You hould familiarize yourelf with proper operation procedure to avoid overloading the crane. A an example: If a load of 3200 pound i lifted at an 11 boom length at 75, lowering the boom would caue an overload ituation. The 3200 crane i relatively imple to operate. Prior to field ue, you hould familiarize yourelf with the control and how the unit react to the control. Practice operation hould be performed with a light tet weight progreing to a heavier tet weight. LIFTING OVER 1,600 POUNDS A two-part line mut be ued whenever the load i 1,600 pound or greater. In order to two-part the line: Connect the winch cable eye to the pin on the bottom of the manually extendible boom ection. Inert cable through the natch block by removing the cotter pin and diaembling. Reaemble the natch block. Be ure to reinert the cotter pin in the natch block. You hould alo ue a two-part line for load under 1,600 pound if you want to low down the line peed of the cable. LOAD LIFTING It mut be undertood that all load rating are formulated on 85% of tipping. Tipping i defined a a tire breaking contact with the ground. Further, all load rating are dependent upon compliance with the following: The unit ha been correctly intalled in accordance with chai requirement and truck body manufacturer pecification. The intended operation i carried out on a level, olid urface with proper outrigger placement. 8

9 OPERATION 3200 SERIES OWNER S MANUAL TASK PERFORMANCE 1. Poition the 3200 crane a cloe to the job a poible on a firm, dry, and level urface. Avoid overhead obtruction on the work ide of the unit. 2. Set the parking brake. 3. Extend and lower the outrigger until firm ground contact i made. On oft ground, ue bearing pad to prevent inking or tipping. 4. Run the winch line out before extending the boom. 5. Make ure the connection to the load i ecure and will not come looe when lifting the load. OVERLOAD PROTECTION The 3200 crane i equipped with a counterbalance valve inide the lift cylinder to protect againt overloading. In an overload condition, the boom will not elevate. Attempt to winch the load will caue a downward feathering of the boom until the overload condition i reduced. The counterbalance valve will alo keep the boom from coming down in the unlikely event of a rupture to the hydraulic hoe that upply oil to the lift cylinder. A preure enitive witch i located in the lifting cylinder. It can ene an overload ituation. Thi caue a hutdown of the winch up, boom extenion out, and boom elevation function, and automatically reet after the crane ha been moved out of the overload poition. An anti-two block feature i provided on the LRX model, and optional on all other. RELIEF VALVES The 3200 crane ha a relief valve located on the hydraulic power unit. Thi i the main ytem relief. It i factory et at 2550 PSI. The main function of thi relief valve i to prevent overloading of the ytem if the boom i inadvertently rotated againt an immovable object, while one of the other hydraulic function i alo being ued. The relief valve would not normally require adjutment, but if the correct relief valve etting i upect, refer to the maintenance ection of thi manual for the proper adjutment and teting procedure. 9

10 3200 SERIES OWNER S MANUAL MAINTENANCE Proper maintenance on a regular chedule i eential to keep the unit operating at peak efficiency. LUBRICATION Maintenance and proper lubrication chedule will vary with climate condition and the amount of uage the unit receive. The lubrication chart below i intended to erve for a normal workload and moderate weather variance. Period of heavy ue horten ervice interval. For operation in below freezing temperature, ue a hydraulic fluid having a vicoity of 3000 SSU. Operating temperature of the hydraulic fluid hould be within the range of 120 F 160 F (49 C 82 C). NOTE: Arctic condition preent pecial requirement and conideration. Conult your oil upplier for the proper fluid for working under thee evere condition. In addition to meeting the vicoity requirement, hydraulic fluid ued in the ytem hould contain the following additive: Anti-foam inhibitor Antioxidant inhibitor Anti-wear additive Rut reitant additive 10

11 MAINTENANCE 3200 SERIES OWNER S MANUAL PURGING AIR FROM THE SYSTEM Air that i trapped in the cylinder will caue an erratic bumpy condition. To expel the air, hold the affected control open after the function ha bottomed out. Move the function in the oppoite direction and again hold the control open. Attempt to operate the crane in a normal manner to determine if the air ha been purged. When purging i complete, reevaluate hydraulic fluid level and add fluid if neceary. REMOTE CONTROL The remote control i ubject to corroion and mut be checked at leat twice a year and more often if operated in evere, wet condition. To check for corroion: 1. Remove the cover plate and inpect for lack of luter. Metal hould appear bright and untarnihed. 2. Spray the inide of the box with an ignition ealer uch a Krylon. 3. Check all connection to make ure they are tight. 11

14 3200 SERIES OWNER S MANUAL MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS! CAUTION! Improperly mounted crane can injure people or damage property. Thee intruction decribe intallation of a crane on a typical ervice body. Contact the dealer for other ervice body/truck chai combination.! CAUTION! The truck chai mut be capable of afely upporting the entire chai, body, crane, other equipment and the maximum capacity of the crane pound crane mut be intalled on a truck chai with a GVWR of at leat 8000 pound. The GVWR mut exceed the curb weight of the complete vehicle by at leat the rated load of the crane (3200lb). The curb weight i the total weight of the chai, body, crane, and other equipment. (See example below.) GVWR = 8800LBS CURB WT. = BODY WT. (1200 LBS) + CRANE WT. (800 LBS) + CHASSIS WT. (3500 LBS) = 5500 LBS GVWR (8800 LBS) CURB WT. (5500 LBS) = 3300 LBS > 3200 LBS! CAUTION! Never attach, change, or ue unauthorized component on your crane. Thi could reult in failure of the crane and/or poible injurie and void any warranty or liability.! CAUTION! MOST SERVICE BODIES ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO MOUNT A CRANE! You mut reinforce the compartment and floor before you mount the crane. Get help from the truck dealer or ditributor if the 3200 crane i intalled on a non- body, in another body/chai combination or in a different location. It i recommended that a crane body and outrigger be ued with the 3200 crane. Conult the ditributor for the proper body required for your application. 14

15 MOUNTING INSTRUSTIONS 3200 SERIES OWNER S MANUAL 1. Layout the mounting hole on the mounting urface (refer to figure below). Drill four (4) 0.56 diameter hole and flame cut the two inch (2 ) diameter hole. 2. Lift the crane into poition. Make ure the power lead i fed through the two inch (2 ) diameter hole. 3. Bolt the 3200 crane to the mounting urface with four (4) 0.50 grade eight bolt and four (4) grade eight lock nut. Torque the 0.50 bolt to 100 foot pound. Ue of other than 0.50 grade eight bolt and lock nut may reult in the crane breaking looe from the mounting urface when in ue. Additionally, tar waher hould be ued between mounting bolt and crane mounting plate to enure crane i grounded to body. 4. It i neceary to upport the boom in the tored poition. The boom upport hould alo have a place to ecure the hook in the tored poition. The figure below how a typical boom upport. 15

16 3200 SERIES OWNER S MANUAL MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS! CAUTION! -DISCONNECT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE BEFORE PROCEEDING- 5. Run the power lead to the front of the truck. Locate the lead o that it will be protected. Intall cable clamp to hold the wire ecurely in place. 6. Connect the power wire to the poitive terminal on the vehicle battery. A 250-amp in-line circuit breaker i required near the battery to protect harne from electrical hort. 7. Reconnect the negative battery cable. The 3200 crane i elf-grounding and doe not require an additional ground cable.! CAUTION! IF THE POWER WIRE IS ROUTED SO THAT IT PASSES THROUGH ANY BODY OR CHASSIS SHEET METAL, A GROMMET MUST BE USED TO PROTECT WIRES FROM BEING CUT. IF THE POWER WIRE COMES INTO CONTACT WITH A GROUNDED SURFACE, A DEAD SHORT WILL OCCUR POSSIBLY CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE CRANE, VEHICLE BATTERY OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. 16

30 ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY COVERED PRODUCTS: Crane One (1) year from the date of purchae by the original owner of record for part including the tructural integrity of the crane boom aembly, turret aembly, and bae plate weldment. Product() not made of galvaneal teel are warranted to the original owner of record for 180 day from the date of purchae. Should the warranted product rut through will cover labor and material to replace and/or repair defective material and/or intall new material (olely at the dicretion of ) The foregoing collectively contitute the Warranty. ELIGIBILITY.
