Starting with a basic range f sft starters in the year f fundatin 2001, IGEL Electric has etended this niche cntinuusly and cmpleted with an entire range f prducts and services. With grwing develpment eperience, the prducts have becme mre cmple. In ur develpment department the slgan Cpy and Paste is abslutely frbidden. Each develpment starts with a blank sheet f paper. This was the basis fr develpment f the fi rst fully withdrawable medium vltage switchgear MV-CS. During Hanver fair 2011 IGEL Electric presented a medium vltage sft starter in 19 inch plugin technlgy. This sft starter prvides full MCC functinality and the smallest dimensins in the market. 6 SOFT STARTERS TECHNOLOGY CURRENT LIMIT, ANALOGUE, COMMUNICATION RS 485 CURRENT LIMIT The vltage increases linearly frm the Initial Vltage pre selected pint. If the adjusted Current Limit is reached, the vltage will stp ramping and remain at its level until the current is reduced belw the adjusted Current Limit level. In that case ramp up time is prlnged until the current has reduced belw Current Limit level. When a mtr starts with current limit, althugh the current is limited the mtr prvides suitable trque t accelerate the driven lad and reach End f acceleratin. If the mtr trque des nt eceed the lad trque the mtr will nt start. In these rare cases severe damages might ccur t the mtr and starter. Sftstarter utput vltage Current prfile The scillgram shws, that the sft starter prvides a smth and stepless current and vltage ramp t the mtr. Starting with the initial vltage which defines the starting current, the vltage ramps up until Current Limit is reached. After the mtr is at speed, the current will decrease, t the nminal mtr current. The scillgram shws a clear increasing vltage and current signal, thus, n spikes stressing the grid are present. 7 SOFT STARTERS TECHNOLOGY PUMP CONTROL, DIGITAL, ISA-D OPTIONS, BYPASS PUMPENSTEUERUNG CONTROL Our digital Sft Starters line f prducts ISA-D, ISA-DS and ISA-HD prvide an advanced micrprcessr based cntrl algrithm, enabling the sphisticated pump cntrl feature. The mtr trque is cntinuusly mnitred t eliminate peak trque frm stressing the mtr, pump and pipe system. These sft starters prvide three field selectable pump cntrl algrithms. The LEDs prvide a quick status indicatin. The pump cntrl enables selectin between three vltage ramp-up curves as well as trque curve t reduce peak trque. Current ramp is available fr special lads. Water hammer during stpping During sft stp, when vltage is decreasing, mtr trque may fall belw lad trque causing abrupt stalling instead f smthly decreasing speed t zer. This creates the water hammer phenmenn (resulting in a lud nise and damage t the pipe system). The pump cntrl algrithm enables selectin between three vltage ramp-dwn curves r trque curve preventing stall cnditin and eliminating water hammer. ISA-D OPTIONS Analgue ptin card Functin 1: Thermistr-input, PTC r NTC Functin 2: Analgue-utput, based n the mtr current, prgrammable frm 0 10 VDC, 4 20 ma, 0 20 ma r inverted Mtr insulatin ptin card This unique feature guarantees the availability f imprtant plant cmpnents, such as fire-etinguishing systems, redundant systems as well as submersible pumps. The system measures the mtr insulatin level while the mtr is nt in peratin. Tw prgrammable steps are available: Alarm-Level, adjustable 0,2 5 MOhm Start inhibit, adjustable 0,2 5 MOhm, avids mtr starting if the insulatin is belw the critical level. BYPASS The prduct lines ISA-B, -A, -A2P and -DS include an internal bypass. This reliable cmpnents bypass the pwer electrnics after the mtr is at speed. In additin the starters prvide an auiliary cntact, allwing signaling f a successful mtr start. (Many f ur cmpetitrs call these auiliary relays a bypass cntact!) The bypass functin reduces the heat dissipatin and eliminates the EMC lad f the system. As an ptin, ISA-DS series can be designed fr DOL-start (available frm ISA-DS 390). 7

CATHODIC PROTECTION Kathde IKS-D Schutzstrm Ande Cathdic prtectin effectively prevents crrsin f the prtected bject by active interventin in the electrchemical crrsin prcess. The structure-t-sil ptential can be measured and influenced, allwing the prtected structure t be set t a defined prtective ptential when cnnecting a rectifier current surce (IKS-D). The IKS-D will be builtin between pipe and ande (anitple). Then the current flws frm the ande thrugh the pipe insulatin faults int the pipe wall ut f steel.
