Vehicle n Tracks There were tw days, March 1 and 4, with a vehicle n the tracks that caused train delays. Mechanical Delays In March 2018 there were 515 minutes f delay due t mechanical issues cmpared t 408 minutes in March Trespasser Strikes There was ne trespasser strike n March 5, resulting in a fatality. February: The February 2018 OTP was 93.7% cmpared t 93.8% fr February Special Event Train Service Services Perfrmed: San Jse Sharks The San Jse Sharks hsted six hme-games in February. Ttal pst-game Sharks fans and regular riders, barding at San Jse Diridn statin, was 2,058. Ttal year-t-date pst-game Sharks fans and regular riders, barding at San Jse Diridn statin, is 10,428. There were eight SJ sharks regular seasn hme games in March. The Sharks hsted three regular seasn ice-hckey games in April. The last regular seasn game was n Saturday, April 7, Page 1 f 5

2 Giants Baseball The Giants held tw exhibitin games against the Oakland A s at AT&T Park n Mnday, March 26 at 7:15 p.m. and Tuesday, March 27 at 6:05 p.m. Caltrain prvided 2 extra pst-game trains. The Giants regular seasn hme pener against the Seattle Mariners was n Tuesday, April 3 at 1:35 p.m. Caltrain prvided tw extra pre-game trains departing frm SJ and ne extra pst-game train. Mexican Natinal Sccer Team vs. Iceland On Friday, March 23, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. the Mexican Natinal Sccer Team and Iceland team played at Levi s Stadium. N additinal service was prvided, but ridership was mnitred. Services Scheduled: San Jse Sharks The Sharks are cntenders fr the playffs. Caltrain will be tracking pst-game service ridership fr all regular seasn and pstseasn hme games. Specials Service fr the playffs will be determined at a later date. Giants Baseball The Giants will hst thirteen seasn hme games in April. Fr Weekday Day games Caltrain will prvide ne extra Pre-game train departing frm SJ and ne extra pst-game train. Fr Weekday Evening games Caltrain will prvide tw extra Pst-game trains. Fr Weekend games Caltrain will prvide tw extra Pre-game trains departing frm SJ and tw extra pst-game trains. New fr the 2018 seasn, visual message signs will identify special scheduled nrthbund trains when appraching the platfrm labelled with an S (i.e. S01, S03). All pst-event trains will prvide lcal service (the Belmnt Express will n lnger be in service). In additin, fr Weekday and Saturday games, there will be n extra service after 12:05 a.m. in the event that a Giants game ges int extra innings. Capital Prjects Additinal service infrmatin is available in the Giants Baseball Brchure placed nbard the trains and n the Caltrain website: This infrmatin is current as f March14, 2018 San Francisc Highway Bridges: Replace three bslete verhead vehicular bridges lcated in San Francisc at 23rd Street, 22nd Street, and Paul Avenue. Cnstructin started in March 2015 and was substantially cmpleted in May Specialized materials, in rder t reslve a Buy America issue with Caltrans related t the City f San Francisc fire hydrants, were received n March 10. 3 Installatin f these materials is scheduled fr the weekends f March and March Reslutin f this Buy America issue is a precnditin f Caltrans befre reslving funding issues fr the prject. Staff is als cntinuing discussins with Caltrans, City f San Francisc, and third-party utilities t secure additinal funding and reimbursement fr additinal incurred csts assciated with their prtin f wrk. PG&E has reimbursed the PCJPB fr their assciated csts. Discussins regarding cst reimbursement frm the City f San Francisc fr their Auxiliary Water Supply System (AWSS) cntinue. The AT&T relcatin reimbursement request was cmpleted by staff and is still under review by legal cunsel befre transmittal t AT&T. San Mate 25th Avenue Grade Separatin Prject: Raise the elevatin f the alignment frm Hillsdale Bulevard t suth f the Highway 92 Overcrssing in the City f San Mate. The prject creates a grade separatin at 25th Avenue, relcates the Hillsdale Statin t the nrth, and creates tw new east-west street grade-separated cnnectins at 28th and 31st Avenues in San Mate. Cnstructin f the elevated rail alignment and the new Hillsdale Statin will be phased t limit impact t the perating railrad. During the past mnth, wrk cntinued n the cnstructin f Brel Creek Bridge, the Pedestrian Underpass structure between 28th and 31st Avenues, signal system mdificatins at the 25th Avenue grade crssing, and fabricatin f Mechanically Stabilized Embankment (MSE) wall panels. Schedule delays in 3rd party fiber ptic utility relcatins have impacted prgress at the 28th and 31st Avenue bridges. The temprary clsure f the Hillsdale Statin, t allw cmpletin f the prject, is frecast t ccur in late During the temprary clsure, enhanced bus and shuttle service t the Belmnt Statin will be prvided t minimize the temprary incnvenience. Overall cnstructin is expected t cmplete in early Suth San Francisc Statin Imprvements: Replace the existing side platfrms with a new centerbard platfrm, cnstructin f a new cnnecting pedestrian underpass t tw new plazas in dwntwn Suth San Francisc t the west and the shuttle area t east. Upn cmpletin, the hld-ut rule at this statin that currently impacts the verall system peratinal efficiency will be remved. During the past mnth, the cntractr cmpleted administrative requirements and the Ntice t Prceed was issued. The cntractr had been wrking under a restricted Limited Ntice t Prceed that nly allwed shfly trackwrk cnstructin t prceed that is required t build temprary statin platfrms that allws the pedestrian underpass t be cnstructed. Cntract cmpletin remains scheduled by mid Third party utility relcatins, except fr Kinder- Mrgan fuel lines, are still awaiting the City f Suth San Francisc s acquisitin f an encrachment permit frm Caltrans. An Air Space Lease Agreement that is als needed fr utility relcatins and ther cnstructin is being executed between the City f Suth San Francisc and Caltrans. The Electrificatin cntractr has mved ut f its wrk staging area just nrth f the Suth San Francisc statin thereby eliminating the access cnflict between the tw Page 3 f 5

Redwd City Grade Crssing Imprvements: The scpe f this prject is t imprve the safety devices at three grade crssings within the city f Redwd City at Whipple Avenue, Main Street, and Bradway. The prject will imprve the Whipple Avenue crssing with new vehicular and pedestrian gates, new sidewalks and ramps, new pavement markings and striping. At Bradway, new pedestrian gates will be installed and new pavement markings will be added. At Main Street, new fencing, pedestrian gates, and pavement markings will be installed. The design and cnstructin schedule f this prject has been crdinated with the City s imprvements in the same area. During the past mnth, directinal undergrund bring fr cnduits crssing beneath the railrad tracks and street pavements at all three sites were cmpleted. Wrk in prgress during March includes undergrund electrical and installatin f crssing panels at Main Street, undergrund electrical at Bradway, and cnstructin f the fundatins fr the future traffic signal cantilever at Whipple Avenue. Cnstructin is expected t be substantially cmplete by July FY16 Grade Crssing Imprvements Prject: The scpe f this prject is t imprve the safety at 10 grade crssings alng the crridr. Wrk items included are the installatin f signals, fences, gates, curbs, lighting and signs. The existing grade crssing warning devices will be retrfitted t meet the latest Califrnia Public Utilities Cmmissin standards. The crssings t be imprved include 16th Street in San Francisc, Bradway in Burlingame, Peninsula and 4th Ave. in San Mate, Ravenswd in Menl Park, Alma and Charlestn in Pal Alt, Rengstrff and Castr in Muntain View, and Mary in Sunnyvale. The cnstructin cntract als includes the installatin f medians at five crssings in Santa Clara Cunty. The scpes f tw prjects were cmbined int a single cnstructin cntract t imprve cst and administrative efficiency. These medians are required by the FRA and are intended t create a barrier that discurages vehicles frm driving arund dwn crssing gates. The five crssings are Churchill and East Meadw in Pal Alt, Sunnyvale Avenue in Sunnyvale, and Auzerais and West Virginia in San Jse. The Limited Ntice t Prceed was issued n March 1, 2018 and the prject is currently in the 60-day administrative perid befre site cnstructin can begin that is expected t cmmence in May. Overall cnstructin is expected t cmplete by February Sunnyvale Statin Rehabilitatin Prject: Replace the surface pavers in the statin platfrm with clred cast-in-place cncrete and the relcatin f the nrth pedestrian crssing t the nrth by apprximately 83 feet. Sme f the surfaces f the platfrm pavers have becme uneven and this prject will create a smth and even platfrm surface. The relcatin f the nrth pedestrian crssing will help t clear the suthern crssing that is currently partially blcked Page 4 f 5

5 when nrthbund 6-car cnsists arrive at the Sunnyvale Statin. The Ntice t Prceed was issued and cnstructin began n March 12th. Cnstructin is phased s that nly apprximately 200 feet f platfrm is clsed fr surface replacement at any ne time. Passenger and bicycle barding patterns will be temprarily reruted due t cnstructin. The first area f cnstructin is at the suthern end f the platfrm. Cnstructin is expected t cmplete by the summer f Inward Facing Cameras: Install cameras n lcmtives and cab cars that will vide and vice recrd the train peratrs during revenue peratins. Currently there are utward facing cameras n lcmtives that recrd the right-f-way frm the vantage pint f the peratrs. The inward facing cameras are recmmended by the Natinal Transprtatin Research Bard and assists in pstaccident investigatins. Inward facing cameras are already in service n Metrlink in Suthern Califrnia and by railrads such as the Unin Pacific and Burlingtn Nrthern Santa Fe. Installatin and testing f the cameras began n March 5th and is expected t be apprximately 50 percent cmplete by the end f March. Cmpletin f installatin f all cameras is frecast by the end f April HVAC Imprvements at the CCF Cmmunicatins Equipment Rm: Imprve the cling systems in the electrnics equipment rm at the Central Cntrl Facility in San Jse. The amunt f electrnic equipment has greatly increased which has resulted in verlading f the existing cling system. With the additin f newer systems such as CBOSS/PTC, ROCS/PADS, and upgrades t cmmunicatins systems; the capacity f the existing cling system is inadequate t maintain a sufficiently cl temperature. Equipment failure t critical systems such as dispatching and cmmunicatins due t verheating is an unacceptable peratinal risk. Currently, this prblem is being temprarily addressed by using rental cling systems that are inadequate fr future expansin and is cstly. This prject will address current and future cling capacity by adding and replacing current cling systems with newer and mre efficient cling equipment. Site cnstructin was expected t begin in late March fr the cnstructin f fundatins fr the new Air Cling Equipment t be added. The prject is expected t cmplete by the summer f Page 5 f 5
