2 Wednesday in Newark We are currently running Pre-movement Exempt Markets/ Red on alternate weeks for Cull Cows, OTMs, Young Bulls and Clean Cattle. PRE-MOVEMENT EXEMPT MARKETS Cattle presented on the Pre-Movement Exempt days can move to an approved EFU as well as AFU, or direct to slaughter only. 3 TB Regulations from Jan 1 st 2013 ANNUAL TESTING PARISHES FAT CATTLE can be moved to a Red slaughter only markets where the 6 Day Rule does NOT apply and pre-movement exempt markets where the 6 Day Rule DOES apply. Both markets WITHOUT premovement testing. STORE CATTLE must be pre-movement tested and the 6 Day rule applies (Pre-movement test lasts 60 days) 4 YEAR TESTING PARISHES Cattle can move to any market without pre-movement testing WEDNESDAY MARKETS are RED and PREMOVEMENT EXEMPT MARKETS on alternate weeks FEEDING COWS, STORE AND BREEDING CATTLE, SHEEP AND PIGS will be held on SATURDAYS We believe that this will be in everyone s best interest and look forward to continuing to provide a complete marketing service to all our clients. The market is licenced to accept cattle from TB Restricted Herds, ie. Herds that have had a TB breakdown in our Red (Slaughter only) markets subject to the following conditions: The animals being presented for sale must have had a negative TB test in the previous 90 days and it applies to all holdings under TB2 restrictions, whether one or four yearly testing parishes In order for you to bring your stock here you will need to obtain a licence (TB24B) from your local Defra Animal Health Office. Obviously there will be many concerns and questions that you may have, we will continue to update you in this publication or better still ring anytime *** SHEEP EID The following applies to movements made from for sheep indentified since 1 st January 2010 Lambs/Hoggets destined for slaughter before they reach 12 months of age and identified with a single tag bearing flock mark (electronic or manual) These sheep can be recorded on movement documents as a batch. There is NO requirement to list all the flock numbers, even when a batch within batch consignment is moved. Lambs/ Hoggets (Stores) must be double tagged and must be electronic These sheep MUST be individually identified on the movement document, unless they are moving to Newark or any other approved CPRC (Central Point Recording Centre) where the tags will be read and recorded on behalf of the keeper. Keepers using the CPRC facility must populate their Holding Register with the read information within 48 hours of the sheep leaving their holding Holding Registers: ALL sheep moved MUST be recorded in the keepers Holding Register Keepers include: farmers, dealers, markets, abattoirs etc. This has been a requirement since 31 st December The recording requirements include: All individual numbers, if full EID has been applied All flock numbers, if single slaughter tags have been applied

Today we saw a good consignment of Store Lambs at a brisk trade, it makes you start to wonder whether they are better cashed in the Stores, and without any Levy?! Today best Continentals sold from 90 to 127. Best Suffolks 88 to 108. Heavy mules sold from 72 to 82 and leaner sorts found homes to feeding men at 48 to 62. Trade again dearer on the week for all breeds, weights and qualities with black and whites looking a marvellous trade.
