2 FOREWORD This most genuine sale of 26 Dairy Shorthorns on behalf of the Tunnicliffe family marks the start of the dispersal of the Quarnford Herd, the family having decided to cease milk production and go into Beef Shorthorns. The Quarnford prefix was established back in 1993 however the family have been milking cows for many years, Andrew being the 5 th generation to do so at Manor Farm. The herd is milked through an abreast parlour and is loose housed with management based on a low input system of clamp silage and hay with some concentrates fed in the parlour. It must be noted that the farm lies at over 1000 feet so these cows are certain to improve. The annual average for the herd is running at 6402kg 3.93%F 3.20%P with the latest bulk sample showing a quality of 3.73%F 3.15%P cc147. The herd is screened for Johnes with all cows in the sale in the green banding. The herd was TB tested on 21 st May 2018 and is on yearly tests.
