2 FOREWORD This most genuine dispersal of this Entire Herd on behalf of the Waller family at Blaze Farm results from Mr & Mrs Waller seniors decision to take life a bit steadier and for Marshall to concentrate on the families other farming enterprises which includes a thriving tearoom and ice cream business. The sale comprises 50 Cows and Heifers In-milk and In-calf together with 12 In-calf and served heifers and 15 youngstock. The herd was established well over 50 years ago and initially milked black and whites. A breeding decision was taken 5 years ago to switch to cross breeding and the herd today whilst still having Holstein Friesian consists mainly of Montbeliarde, Norwegian Red and Dairy Shorthorn X with breeding policy geared towards the three way cross. The family have also been producing A2 milk with all milkers being A2 genotype. The herd is cubicle housed and milked via a herringbone parlour with management based on a relatively low input system of grass silage and meal with concentrates fed in the parlour. Milk recorded with NMR the herd is maintaining a creditable average of 7508kg 4.42%F 3.19%P Rolling CC 140 The most recent bulk sample shows an excellent milk quality of 4.09%F 3.28%P cc129 This is a really genuine herd of lasting cows that will be sure to do good wherever they go. Attendance and inspection is thoroughly recommended on Tuesday 13 th March.

3 GENERAL NOTES Directions to Leek Market From Leek Town Centre take the A520 Cheddleton Road. At the first set of traffic lights turn right into Junction Road. Proceed through the houses and the entrance to the Market lies on the left hand side just before the Pride of the Moorlands Public House. The Market is clearly sign posted on the A53 Newcastle to Leek Road and the A520 Leek to Cheddleton Road. Method of Sale All cattle will be sold in the pound and settlement of all accounts shall be made in full immediately at the close of sale. The herd will be sold under Farm Sale Rules a copy of which can be obtained from the Auctioneers. Refreshments Refreshments will be available from the Leek Market Cafeteria. Cheques/Payment Intending Purchasers not known to the Auctioneers must produce, prior to bidding, an acceptable Banker s Reference. Under new regulations introduced by the Banks, such references are now obtainable by the Bank s customers themselves and have to be obtained by them direct from their Bank. Unless an acceptable Banker s Reference is produced Payment is strictly Cash. Persons unknown to the Auctioneers and who pay by cheque will have their goods impounded until cheques have cleared and the Auctioneers reserve the right to refuse the bid of any potential unknown customer. Health Status The herd passed its last TB test on the 20 th February 2018 and is on 6 monthly tests. The herd is vaccinated for Leptospirosis, BVD and IBR. All Milkers are A2 genotype. The herd is screened for Johnes.
