1 BAKEWELL MARKET REPORT FOR MONDAY 8 th OCTOBER OTM CATTLE overall average 49.6p (Auctioneer Alastair Sneddon) Not as many as anticipated and a very moderate sample with a great many plain sorts on offer. It took a reasonably well meated cow to top 60p and the best on offer sold as follows:- 83.5p 628kg Fries TJ Storer, Longnor Here SR Hinchley, Ashover Bel Blue JD Brown, Bonsall Lane Lim X Theakston Farms, Yorkshire Sim JL&M Haynes, Cossall Road Fries G&M Limer, Taddington Lim X SJ Buckley, Doveholes Bel Blue SR Hinchley, Ashover Fries TJ Storer, Longnor Holst SJ Walker, Dronfield and Gross prices For 696kg Bel Blue X JD Brown, Bonsall Fries TJ Storer, Longnor A Angus JL & M Haynes, Cossall Road Fries G&M Limer, Taddington Holst SJ Walker, Dronfield Bel Blue SR Hinchley, Ashover Here SR Hinchley, Ashover Lim X AS Chapman, Theakstone Fries Chatsworth Settlement, Stud Farm Fries T&CJ Hadfield, Tideswell Breed Report OTMS 3 Lim X From 61.5p to 68p Ave 65.5p 7 Bel Blue X 66 to Sim 2 Jersey 29 to Ayr 50 to Here 53 Black & Whites from 17p to 83.5p ave 47.1pence This is not so much an indication of trade as an illustration of the number of very plain cows in the entry. It would appear that producers may be holding back better cows until the Export Market returns. Much uncertainty still surrounds this and it may not produce immediate benefits. 143 FINISHED CATTLE overall average 104.5p(Auctioneer Alastair Sneddon)
2 A much sharper trade overall but difficult to detect from the figures because quality cattle were in very short supply and most of those on offer were moderate sorts. There seems to be a shortage of under 24month well finished inside fed cattle and several buyers were unable to fill their orders. 55 Young Bulls overall average 104.9p A useful trade throughout with some good results for both Continentals and Black & Whites. 130p For 592kg Lim X J&J Spillane, Buxton Bel Blue K Harrop, Alport Lim X J&J Spillane, Buxton Lim X Dexter & Patton, Mickley Lim X P Ritter & Sons, Peak Forest Lim X Dexter & Patton, Mickley Lim X J&AM Battye, Ringinglow Lim X R Bradbury, Middleton by Youlgreave A Angus H Holland, Conksbury Lane Lim X Dexter & Patton, Mickley And gross prices: For 824kg Lim X Clark Farms, Ringinglow Lim X J&J Spillane, Buxton Bel Blue AT Turner, Hatton Lim X Dexter & Patton, Mickley Lim X AT Turner, Hatton Lim X J&J Spillane, Buxton Lim X Dexter & Patton, Mickley Lim X J&J Spillane, Buxton Lim X J&J Spillane, Buxton Lim X J&AM Battye, Ringinglow Breed report:- 20 Lim X From 89p to 130p Ave 115.4p 7 Bel Blue 99 to Angus 116 to Here 64 to Char 108 to Black & Whites:- 10 Friesians from 58p to 111.5p ave 100.3p 7 Holst 50.0p to 96.5p ave 77.2p There were some exceptional Friesian bulls which sold very well indeed with most in the 100p to 110p range. 32 Steers overall average 105.8p Just a few better sorts which sold as follows:-
