About the Exhibition Automechanika Frankfurt is the world s leading trade fair for the automotive service industry. The trade fair takes place since 1971 and is held every two years, organized by Messe Frankfurt. 133,000 professional visitors from 170 countries attended the last show where 4,843 exhibitors presented their innovations, products and solutions. In 2018 Automechanika Frankfurt celebrates its 25th anniversary with many new topics such as Classic Cars and the co-located show REIFEN in the exhibition. The 25th Automechanika Frankfurt takes place from 11 to 15 September 2018 at the Messe Frankfurt fairgrounds. Automechanika Frankfurt is the leading trade fair for equip-

2 ment, parts, accessories, management & services. As an international meeting place for industry, workshop and trade, the fair is one of the most important platforms for technological and economic knowledge transfer. The German economy suffers with low level of investment and the government plans to invest around 15 billion Euros during , majorly in infrastructure to boost the private investment. Germany has moved from a budget deficit of 4.1% in 2010, 0.8% in 2011 to a budget surplus of 0.7% in 2017, due to lower spending and higher tax revenues. Germany s GDP has grown from 1.7% in 2015 to 1.9% in GDP is expected to grow in FY18, and will be largely driven by domestic consumption, investment, and exports with country s budget and trade surpluses are probable to remain high. India-Germany bilateral trade relations The India-Germany has a Strategic Partnership since 2001 which has been reinforced by Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC). The 4th Inter-governmental Consultation was held on 30th May, 2017 in Berlin where 12 cooperation agreements were signed in various sectors. Germany is the 7th largest foreign direct investor in India since January German FDI in India in 2016 was to the tune of US$ 1.1 billion. A Fast-Track System for German companies has been set up in DIPP, as agreed between the two sides at the 3rd IGC. India s total export of engineering goods to Germany is around USD 2.5 billion whereas Germany s import for the same is around USD 553 billion during India amounts to meager 0.4% of the imports to Germany for engineering products. Thus, India has a huge potential to tap the untapped market in Germany with respect to engineering goods. Germany s auto market Germany is recognized globally for its automotive industry as well as its excellence in engineering. It is the leading sales and production market in Europe; accounting for around 30% of all passenger cars manufactured and almost 20% of the all new registrations. In 2015, auto sector had a turnover of around 404 billion Euro (being one of the largest employers in Germany with a growth of almost 2% in workforce in 2015 in comparison to last year); which amounted to almost 20% of the total German industry revenue. Around 79% of the cars produced in Germany in 2015 were destined for foreign shores. Exports account for three quarter of all domestic vehicle production. It was the most significant exporter of passenger cars in 2015 ahead of Japan and South Korea. Germany s automotive sector is country s most innovative industry sector; accounting for around 35% of the total R&D industry expenditure which was around 57 billion Euro in They are responsible for more than 60% of R&D growth in Europe.
