In 2011, it is developing soundly, relying on a three year in advance order book. 24 Intermodal transport in China? Sea-rail connections need much effort from many sides ; generally it is not the focus today : Few rail tracks on the port terminals Poor port-rail links in general Complex operations and pricing However, some tentative : Qingdao, Ningbo Initiative comes from ports competing for hinterland

25 Conclusion Rail container transport, and more particularly sea-rail transport, has a lot of room for development in China It is sorely needed for inland economic growth Infrastructure is being developed before traffic Reform of the Chinese railways would be helpful
