Over the years the club has grown to the be the largest chapter of The GTO Association of America. The Cruisin Tigers is a not for profit club and is dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Pontiac s ultimate muscle car, The GTO. The club acts as a source of information to its members through monthly meetings, a tech advisory staff and club website. The club welcomes anyone with stock, modified or an interest in The Pontiac GTO to join. Ownership of a GTO is not a membership requirement. Club meetings are held the third Saturday of every month and start at 4:00. Members are encouraged to bring their cars to monthly meetings. Club Events: In addition to monthly meetings; the club sponsors cruises, annual picnics, and the club s annual car show, The Indian Uprising. Members and their families can enjoy organized activities with other GTO enthusiasts. Membership: Membership dues are paid annually and collected April 1st. Dues are $30.00 and are subject to a prorated amount for new members. Membership in the GTOAA is not required... but strongly encouraged. Tiger News: Members in good standing receive the club s monthly newsletter Tiger News. In addition to free classified ads, members are encouraged to submit articles, tech columns and club event pictures. Deadlines for all submissions to the newsletter are the thirtieth of the month. 4 Tiger Tales By Ken Smith So what s new? Summer s gone, Autumn is here and nasty old Mr. Winter is not too far away. Has everyone started putting their toys away or do you still feel there is time to get some last minute cruisin in? Come on now, it s only September, so there is plenty of time left. Why you could probably go for a fun-filled, windows down Halloween run and who knows what better way to work off a big Thanksgiving meal than to heat up your rear tires for dessert! I personally feel that you can cruise until the first fluffy white snow flake lands on the pavement (in front of your own garage). By the way, have you ever noticed how much more performance your car can give you when it gets to breathe some really cold air? I have and it s really fun! Maybe what we need to do is set up a fun event Since we are a non-profit organization with some very strong ties to charities though out Chicagoland and we have some club members that have been going though some medical issues, I felt that I could mention an upcoming event that will raise awareness and money to fight Cancer. Jennifer Kindstrom is club members Doug & Sharon Rudisuhle s daughter and has written the following request for support. On Saturday, November 1, 2008, I will participate in the 6th Annual Lung Cancer Walk & Rally benefit LUNGevity Foundation and I am asking you to support my efforts. I am walking in celebration & honor of my Mom, Sharon Rudisuhle. She was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in April Every dollar that you contribute to the LUNGevity Foundation brings us one step closer to finding a cure for lung cancer. In fact, due to our unique relationship with our partner organizations that requires them to match our research funding, each dollar that LUNGevity grants will fund more than $1.25 of the most promising research at the top research facilities. Founded in November, 2000, by lung cancer survivors and their families and friends, the LUNGevity Foundation is the leading private provider of research funding for the number one cancer killer. It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make your tax-deductible donation online by simply going to this address personal&fr_id=1510&et=dbl5nlti7xiclsdopf-gow..&s_tafid=3381 Thank you for supporting this important cause. Please share LUNGevity's important message with your friends and family and remember, Every Second Counts. This Month s Cover By Ken Smith Cover by Paul Weinstein Car by Roger & Judy MacZura. It s a 1966 platinum GTO hardtop with blue interior and a 389/4- speed combination. This car has air, power steering, power brakes, and a 3:23 Saf-T-Trak differential. Over the years has won gold concourse at both the GTOAA & POCI Nationals and a 1st in class at the Ames Tri-power Nationals. It s a beauty and deserves recognition on our cover. If you would like to see your car on the cover of this publication, send digital photos to Paul with some interesting facts about your baby. Who knows, you may end up with a cover that you may want to frame for your home.

Presidents S Page Jim Stern T A Y T U N E D Presidents Page - Jim Stern Sept. / 2008 CRUISIN SEASON ENDS? Why is cruisin widely understood to mean driving to a location, parking & sitting in a folding chair? Seems to me cruisin can also be driving around aimlessly and enjoying your ride alone or with friends. Cruise on! AUGUST ISSUE - OUR UPRISING SHOW COVERAGE: Ken Smith did a marvelous job of presenting our show in picture form within this publication last month. Making this possible were the much appreciated contributions of our Show Photographer, LeeAnn Goodwin and the hundreds of additional pictures submitted by Judy Danalewich, Mark Grimmenga and Mark Theriot. This month, elsewhere in this issue, we turn the spotlight on our show staff, major sponsors and the many individual financial contributors. Our show was what it was because of them. AUGUST ISSUE - CONTRIBUTORS: I also want to make sure that I once again thank those who submitted written content for publication last month: Clay Novak - Brakes!, Randy Ray - Power Tour Recap, part 2 and Randy again with How To Caravan. I am very encouraged by the noticeable increase in contributions. Please, consider contributing. NEEDY FAMILY SELECTION BEGINS: Our annual show success again this year enables us to continue expanding our giving in benefit of children s causes. Over the last several years this effort has grown to where it gives our club a sense of purpose and direction. Earlier this year member, Paul Weinstein, coined the phrase Tigers For Kids to describe our overall charity efforts. Immediately following this years show a $5,000 check, made out to The United Cerebral Palsy s Reedswood Day School, was presented to Director Sam Mancuso. In addition they received $750 won by member Ann Micetic in the 50/50 drawing and a huge table full of donated items. Now we turn our attention to our Holiday Season giving to needy families with children. This involves seeking out families, interviewing them to determine their particular needs, shopping for and purchasing the items, gift wrapping them and finally delivering them. It sure would be great if you would volunteer to help! ELECTION TIME APPROACHES: I opened the nomination process and discussed the election rules at both our July and August meetings. This year there are two Board of Director positions and two Officer positions involved. At this time candidates have been nominated, seconded and have accepted nomination to all four positions as follows: Rick Last - Board (incumbent) Steve Lucas - Board (incumbent) Sylvia Heidlauf - Secretary (incumbent) Bill Nawrot - 1st V. P. (currently held by Bob Zeiger who decided not to run again) I will open the floor at the September meeting for opposing nominations and then close the nomination process. If there are no additional candidates, the above will be appointed by acclamation and there will not be an election. Support your Club - contribute, shop with our sponsors, attend meetings & STAY TUNED! Send Comments, Criticisms & Suggestions To: president08@cruisintigersgto.com

June Chapter Meeting Minutes By Sylvia Heidlauf The meeting started at 4:08 at Mr. Beef & Pizza in Mt. Prospect, IL. There were 22 people in attendance. The treasure s report shows that as of the end of this month the club has a rather large kitty. This month s issue of Tiger News should be arriving soon (as it was to our printer 8 days before this meeting). We now have a total of 223 members that have renewed. If you have not renewed or know of people who would like to join the club, please get some applications from Ken Smith to pass out. Our Uprising was a huge success. There were 312 cars in attendance. On Saturday evening, Ronnie Rice performed and after that Betty Last and Jane Lucas provided an outdoor movie. Sunday proved to be a very warm and sunny day, with many a visitor. On Saturday the races were on at Byron. Rich ran in the Summit Series. He went approx. four rounds. As for our Cruisin' Tigers grudge races, we had 16 racers. The winners were: Pete Stamm (third place), Pete Pulizze (second place) & Steven Heidlauf (first place). Congrats go out to all of the racers that day. From members in magazines, Brandon Goodwin's car was in Muscle Car Enthusiast. The pictures were taken at the Nationals last year in Columbus, Ohio. Elections are coming up and the positions that are up are as follows: Board of Directors (two positions) Secretary First Vice President Two incumbent board members (Rick Last and Steve Lucas) wish to continue in their positions both were nominated and they both accepted. The Secretary incumbent was nominated and accepted by Sylvia Heidlauf First Vice President was nominated and accepted by Bill Nawrat. Two T-Shirts were given away. One went to Jane Lucas and the other went to Brandon Goodwin. The 50/50 was at $41.00 and was won by Nick Spensieri. The "You Gotta Be Here drawing was for $ The name picked was Walter Miller #540. He wasn't there, so it will roll over into next month. Internet Find By Paul Weinstein Found this while trolling the net... It is clearly a 66 A-Body. Take notice that it is some sort of demo/proto model. GM license tag , side of car has all the LeMans trim like the front fender louvers. It also clearly has Sprint strips and GTO front grilles and hood.

2008 Woodward Dream Cruise Photos By Bob Zeiger Based on Bob s input this outing sounds like a lot of fun! The people, the cars, the weather yes sir, sounds like a five star outing! Also, word has it that Rick Last walked away with one of the Top 10 awards. I ve seen that car and it could have won a Top 1 award! Maybe some day I ll get another turn on Woodward Avenue. (I can still smell the burning rubber from my last visit.) Thanks for the pictures, Bob. You guys (and ladies) are having way too much fun and that s the way it should be! BR

2008 Indian Uprising Statistics By Ken Smith Every year we look at the list of participants and award winners and see what we can do to our annual event to make it better. First, let s see of the 312 vehicles on the show field what kind of Pontiacs made the trek to St. Charles for the weekend excitement. Also, not all owners gave all their car s information, so it will fall in the (?) count: Year of car: Model of car: Body Style: 1 = (?) 3 = (?) 22 = (?) 1 = = = 2-door Sedan 1 = = Bonneville 3 = 4-door Sedan 1 = = CanAm 68 = Convertible 1 = = Catalina 6 = Coupe 1 = = Chieftain 187 = Hardtop 1 = = Fiero 10 = Post 2 = = Firebird 3 = Station Wagon 3 = = Firehawk 12 = T-Tops 1 = = GrandAm ============ 2 = = GrandPrix 312 TOTAL 4 = = Grandville 5 = = GTO 6 = = Judge 20 = = LeMans 23 = = Pontiac 29 = = Star Chief 38 = = T = = Tempest 25 = = TransAm 31 = = Ventura 8 = 1971 ============= 6 = TOTAL 11 = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = 2006 ========== 312 TOTAL I was going to do a breakdown based on the exterior color, but that would have taken another two pages in this publication. How do you breakout the differences between orange and carousel red? What about tan verses beige verses little brown? Aquamarine verses turquoise verses teal? Gray verses platinum? Then I would have to factor in the different colors for vinyl tops, convertibles tops, two-tones cars, etc. etc. Let s just say we saw a lot of vehicles, from a lot of years, in This year s Top Five winners were: Bill Cole s 65 red GTO hard top, Rich Fields 61 red Ventura, David & Denise Armstrong s 69 red Firebird convertible, Paul Dehnert s 62 burgundy Catalina Super Duty hard top & Tom Wood s 64 white GTO post. Congratulations to you and remember that next year your cars will be in the Winner s Circle.
