3 Revised 6/01 Flexible Sewer couplings are the result of many years of experience with sewer pipe connections. Today's couplings are made of specially formulated elastomeric PVC with high tear and shear strength and are highly resistant to caustic chemicals. Saddles Sewer service saddles provide accurate, economical and fast installation of sewer lines. The newer stainless steel strap-on type saddle eliminates the need for bolting and drilling, while insuring watertight seal. Saddles are available in 45 and 90 angles and are made for all types of sewer lines. O.D. 5 K-2 Caps and Manhole Adapters Flexible Cap Concrete Manhole Adapters Fast, easy installation Permanent or temporary cap For underground or above-ground use Low cost and reusable Caps offer a quick, easy way to cap pipe ends, cleanouts and open test pipes. Made of flexible PVC, they're suitable for either above ground or underground use on cast iron, steel, copper or plastic piping. Caps are designed to fit all drain, waste and vent pipe materials in a given nominal size. The convex face allows the cap to withstand greater pressure for testing purposes and minimizes ballooning. To install, simply place over open end of pipe and tighten to 60 inch lbs. torque. Concrete Manhole Adapters (CMA) help eliminate leaks around pipe entering manhole walls, yet are flexible enough to permit lateral pipe movement without destroying seal integrity. It is particularly useful for pipe to which concrete will not adhere, such as plastic pipe. The CMA is made of elastomeric PVC, is corrosion proof and is unaffected by acid or alkali. Because the CMA may be subjected to various conditions beyond the manufacturer s control which can affect its ability to seal, discretion must be used in its application and installation. Due to the various factors that can influence the CMA s effectiveness as a seal, (high water tables, quality of grout, workmanship and field conditions) Fernco does not warrant this product as a positive water seal. 6 K-3 Flexible Sewer Saddles Flexible Sewer Saddles Features: The flexible sewer saddle's elastomeric construction will allow one saddle to fit pipe diameters of 4" through 12" thus eliminating the need for an inventory of various sizes of rigid PVC saddles. The flexible sewer saddle is available with a 4" or 6" inlet. The flexible sewer saddle is tightened onto the pipe with stainless steel series 300 clamps. Steel reinforced edges prevent distortion when torque is applied to the stainless steel bands. Inlet range from SCH-40 pipe down to SDR-35 pipe which includes standard weight soil pipe. Available in Tee or Wye configurations. 7 K-4 PVC Inserta Tee Inserta Tee is a three-piece service connection that is compression fit into the cored wall of the mainline or manhole. Inserta Tee is easy to install and is used on all gravity flow pipe currently on the market. Inserta Tee consists of a PVC Hub, Stainless Steel Band and Rubber Sleeve, for side services of 4" (100mm) through 12" (300mm) and fits all mainline diameters. Features: New and Rehab Installations: Inserta Tee allows easier grading of mainline and ensures side services are installed exactly where they need to be. Tapping Existing Lines: Install Inserta Tee without disturbing the bedding while eliminating: 1. Glues, epoxies, grout and specialized gaskets. 2. Specialized tooling. 3. Tightening & retightening bands. HIQ/Sur-Loc Ultra Rib Culvert Installation Procedures: 1. Make sure bit is perpendicular to mainline. Core the proper size hole. Feel inside hole and clear any remaining material. 2. Insert the rubber sleeve into the cored hole with the gold vertical line on the rubber sleeve facing to the side of the mainline. The upper segment should be on top of the wall or rib and the lower segment (PVC, Ribbed & Polyethylene pipe only) should be on the inside of the pipe. Feel inside to be sure lower segment is flat against inside wall. 3. Apply the Inserta Tee solution supplied to the inside of the rubber sleeve and to the outside of the PVC hub adapter spigot. WARNING! Using pipe lube may result in Hub adapter popping out! 4. Place the PVC hub adapter into the rubber sleeve. Make sure that the red vertical line on the pvc hub adapter is in line with the gold vertical line on the rubber sleeve. Push hub adapter in as far as possible by hand. Make sure hub adapter is perpendicular to mainline. Forcing hub adapter through at an angle may cause damage to rubber sleeve or hub adapter. 5. Place a 2 x 4 board onto the top of the PVC hub adapter. 6. The red horizontal line at the top of the hub adapter is a depth mark. This tells the installer just how far to drive the adapter into the rubber sleeve. Drive the PVC hub adapter into the rubber sleeve to where the horizontal red line on the PVC hub adapter meets the top of the rubber sleeve. 7. Place the stainless band around the top of the rubber sleeve and tighten down. 8. Install sideservice pipe in normal manner. NOTE: Inserta Tee construction varies with pipe type and size. It provides a flexible, watertight, environmentally safe joint that exceeds ASTM C923 specifications. A specially formulated EPDM rubber compound offers superior resistance to weather, ozone, oils, acids, alkalis and animal/vegetable fats. Both the Korband and the pipe clamp are nonmagnetic series 304 stainless steel to achieve maximum corrosion resistance.
