5 Assembly Instructions: (All Hardware & Small Parts in Hardware Bag Unless Otherwise Specified) 1. Installation of Rotor Bars: Remove contents from carton. Place hopper upside down with cam gauge facing you as shown in Step #1. Unsnap snap latches on hopper (three each side). Remove 5/16 wing nut and washer from each bearing retainer and remove bearing retainers. Remove both bearings from hopper. Remove bottom from hopper. Unwrap rotor bars, making sure one washer stays on each long end of rotor bar. Install rotor bars (short end of rotor bar) into center bearing. Slide bearing onto rotor bar (long end) up to hopper, making sure washer is still on rotor bar. Install bottom back onto hopper the same way it was removed. Cam gauge will be on same side as the 5/16 threaded stud. Making sure bearings are pushed into bottom, re-snap all six snap latches to hold bottom in place. Reinstall bearing retainers so the rods are on the opposite side of the cam gauge. Reuse the 5/16 washers and wing nut to hold in place. Do not tighten. 2. Spread Plate Assembly: Spread plate ( ) attaches to rods on bearing retainers. Remove one bearing retainer from hopper and slide rolled edge (side without bend as shown) onto bearing retainer rod. Reinstall bearing retainer (one that was removed) to spread plate and hopper. Adjust bearing retainers so spread plate can pivot freely. Tighten 5/16 wing nuts securely. 3. Attaching Wheels: Connect wheels (R ) to rotor bar shaft ends using the 3/16 x 1-3/4 clevis pins (C ) and 3/32 x 3/4 cotters pins (C ). Pin wheel to the hole closest to hopper; Each side. 4A & 4B. Assemble Parking Stand/Shutoff Lever/Handle: Thread the 90 bent end of shutoff lever ( ) upwards through lever guide tab on parking stand ( ) until lever guide tab rests against embossed stops on shutoff lever. Slip same 90 bent end of shutoff lever upwards through lever guide tab on handle ( ) as shown. Fasten handle to parking stand using the two 1/4 x 2 hex bolts, (four) wrought washers and nylon lock nuts as shown. Attach hook mounting bracket ( ) to hole closest to hopper on parking stand as shown. Tighten hardware securely. 5. Attaching Handle Assemble: Locate 5/16 stud on cam gauge side of hopper. Remove 5/16 whiz flange nut from stud (This will be reused). Attach flat bent end of parking stand/handle assembly (assembled in step# 4) to 5/16 stud on hopper using the 5/16 whiz flange nut. Do not tighten nut until Step# 6 is completed. Note: Be sure shutoff lever is in slot on hopper bottom. 6. Installing Brace: Turn spreader up right. Attach handle brace ( ) to hopper ends using the 1/4 x 1/2 hex bolts and whiz flange nuts. Secure center of brace to top of handle with 1/4 x 1-1/2 hex bolt, wrought washer and nylon lock nut. Tighten hardware from this step and previous step securely. Note: Brace has center U-indentation upward. 7. Install Lift Handle: Attach lift handle ( ) to hopper using the 1/4 x 5/8 hex bolts and whiz flange nuts. Tighten securely. 8. Attaching Grips: Push yellow grips (J ) on handle ends. Yellow cap (J ) on parking stand end. Small black grip (J ) on shutoff lever. 9. Sash Chain Assembly & Spread Plate Adjustment: Connect Sash Chain ( ) to hole in spread plate (assembled in Step #2). Fasten sash chain as shown using the 3/16 x 1-1/4 cotter pin (C ). Bend long end of cotter pin far enough so sash chain will not slide off cotter pin. Pull sash chain trough hole so cotter pin rests against spread plate. Spread Plate Adjustment: Place hook of sash chain in hole of hook mounting bracket on handle. Adjust spread plate to desired level depending on rate of application and product weight to produce a sheet-like flow. If application without spread plate is desired, swing spread plate to front of spreader and position hook over lip of hopper. 10.
