4 1 INTRODUCTION The SW01 is a ROV Umbilical Spooling System that consists of 2 major assemblies knownn as Tensioner and Spooler. 2 TENSIONER SET UP OVERVIEW The Tensioner is basically a winch that integrated a drum barrel which coupled with a pair of Planetary Reduction Gearbox at both end of drum flange. Each of the gearbox is attach with a bent axis fixed displacement motor that been synchronized to work together. The entire drum assembly is subsequently mounted onto a pair sturdy pedestal whichh in turn attached onto the Tensioner base frame. Figure 1 Tensione er & Control Stand The Tensioner come with a control stand which holds the character to control the operation of the Tensioner. Control interface of the control stand have a pair of pressuree gauge (C1 and C2) which illustrated the A, B lines pressure of the Bent Axis Fixed Displacement Motors. Besides, there is a also a Remote Pressuree Regulator mount on the control interface. It is used to remote control the working pressure that relate to the tension force equire during the spooling process. 4 P age

5 Underneath the Control Stand interface, there is a manifold namely Constant Tensioner Manifold. The Constant Tensioner Manifold serves as the main brain that regulate the hydralic system of the Tensioner. This manifold willl become very hot during operation, thus it is designed to get water to flow thru inside the manifold to cool it down. During operation, the Control Stand need to be connected to an external hydraulic power unit via the Constant Tensioner Manifold. Brake releasing port on both gearbox have to be pressurized to at least 26 bar by using a handpump. Refer to next page for the detail connection setup of the Tensioner. 7 3 SPOOLER SET UP OVERVIEW The Spooler consists of a main base and Drum Roller Support at 4 corners of on the main base. Each of the Drum Roller Support comes with a pair of spring which allows compensating if there is any shock or vibration occur during the spooling process. This will help to secure the drum always in place. Rollers help the drum to rotate easily while paying out the umbilical. The Spooler has integrated 4 lifting pad eyes whichh ease the transportationn of it. Figure 4 Spooler Assembly During the setup of Spooling System SW01, the drum with the ROV umbilical will be place on top of the Spooler. A pair of Rotational Wheel to be mounts at 2 sides of the drum. These rotational wheels provide an extension of the drum which enables it to connect to the Spooler base via Polyester Round Sling and Chain Block as illustrated in the figure below. Port thatt near to the Umbilical Winch end should always be C2. C2 C1 5 wrap of umbilical on the Tensioner Drum To Umbilical Winch Do not connect C2 and C1 in C2 C1 Umbilical from Spooler entering the rounded surface of drum barrel reverse. 9 5 MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES Gear Oil shall be change after first 100 working hours when it is new. Subsequently, it should be changed every 2000 hours or once per annum whichever comes first. Oil changes for internal brakes are unnecessary since brake and gearbox share the same oil; the oil is changed when the gearbox oil is changed. 1. Prepare 20Litre of Shell Omala S4 GX 220. Figure 8 Shell Omala S4 GX Place a tray underneath the gearbox drain port to collect the waste oil. **Change the oil when the gearbox is still hot as this makes it easier to empty the oil completely, avoiding the formation of oil foots. 3. 10 4. 5. Wait a few minutes until all the oil has drained offf and then screw the Drain Plug back on. Use a small funnel to top up gear oil through the filling port. While filling in the gear oil, observe the Oil Level Plug. Stop when Oil Level Plug is filled up half. Figure 10 Topping Up of Gear Oil Screw the Breather & Filling Plug back. Perform step 2 to 6 at another gearbox of Tensioner. Check the oil level thru Oil Level Plug monthly, top up gear oil thru Breather & Filling Plug if necessary. 10 P age
