PS25120 Primary Seeder Small Seeds Box Attachment Option When you see this symbol, the subsequent instructions and warnings are serious - follow without exception. Your life and the lives of others depend on it! Before You Start! CAUTION! The approximate weight of the front roller assembly is 825 pounds. Use mechanical assistance when moving the front roller to help avoid injury. 5. Refer to Figure 2. Remove 1/2-13 x 2 long bolts (#2). Replace front roller hub & stub shaft assembly with new front roller hub drive shaft assembly, see figure 3. Bolt into place using the same hardware removed earlier. 6. Raise front roller and bolt into place using 1/2-13 x 1 3/4 long bolts (#1) and hardware removed earlier. 7. Lower seeder. These option assembly instructions contain only information on assembling the attachment to the main unit. A detailed Operator s Manual was supplied with the main unit when it was purchased. For more specific information on safety concerns refer to the Operator s Manual. Also included in the Operator s Manual is important information on operation, adjustment, troubleshooting, and maintenance for this attachment (some of these sections do not apply to all options). A separate Parts Manual for replacement parts can be purchased from your dealer. Have model and serial numbers handy when placing an order. Manual Part Numbers: PS25120 Primary Seeder Operator s Manual M PS25120 Primary Seeder Parts Manual P General Information These option assembly instructions apply to the Small Seeds Attachment Option listed below: A PS25120 Small Seeds Attachment Starting on page 10 is a detailed listing of parts included in this kit. Use this list as a checklist to inventory parts received. Front Roller Removal & Installation Figure NOTE: If your seeder already has a Drive Shaft on the left end of the front roller, skip this section and go on to Box Removal & Spacer Installation. If your seeder does not have a Drive Shaft on the left end, you will need to contact your dealer to order a new Front Roller Hub & Drive Shaft Assembly. 1. Raise the seeder so the front roller can be removed easily. Secure seeder to prevent injury or damage to your unit.! CAUTION! Do not use front or end wheels for securing seeder in raised position. 2. Remove the chain guard on the right hand side of the seeder. 3. Remove the roller chain from the sprocket on the front roller. 4. Refer to Figure 1 and remove 1/2-13 x 1 3/4 long bolts (#1) on the left hand side, and using mechanical assistance lower the front roller. Figure Copyright 2006 Printed 2/20/ M 1

You will also need to order a replacement chain guard (part no S) and mounting brackets. On page 5 you will find installation instructions for the replacement chain guard. Box Removal & Spacer Installation For the following installation instructions, seeder must be in the lowered position and secured to prevent injury or damage to your unit. 1. Front and End Wheel Units - Disconnect hydraulic hoses from wheel cylinders. Free hoses from wheel brackets and box and keep handy for reassembly. 2. Removal of feed cup drive on right hand end: a. Ag Drive Units - see Figure 4 & Figure 5. Remove chain guard. Remove Chain A and add 8 chain links, included with kit. Remove Chain B, drive sprocket and idler speed change. Keep chain guard, chains and sprockets handy for later use. Figure b. Turf Drive Units - see Figure 6. Remove chain guard. Remove both chains and add 4 links, included with kit, to each chain. Remove drive sprocket. Keep chain guard, both chains and drive sprocket handy for later use Figure 6 Figure Refer to Figure 7: 3. 3-Point, Pull-type, and Front Wheel Units - Remove the parking stand from the left hand side (3-Point units only) and keep bolts, washers, nuts and stand handy for later use. Remove and save 3/8-16 x 1 long bolts (#3) and 5/16-18 x 3/4 long flange bolts (#4) and 5/8-11 x 1 3/4 long bolts (#5). 4. End Wheel Units - Remove and save 3/8-16 x 1 long bolts (#3) and 5/16-18 x 3/4 long flange bolts (#4). Remove 5/8-11 x 2 1/4 long bolts from end wheel mounts and place end wheels aside for later installation. 5. Using mechanical assistance, raise seed box off frame. 2 2/20/06

3 12975 Figure 7 6. Refer to Figure 8. Remove 3/8-16 x 1 long flange bolts (#6). Remove right and left hand box supports (#7 & #8) and replace with right and left hand box supports (#9 & #10) supplied with kit. Remove hose guard (#11) from old box support and move to new box support. Figure Refer to Figure 10 and install a y-tube (#13) and clamp (#14) to the bottom of each seed tube hose attached to feed cups Figure Figure 8 7. Refer to Figure 9. Install right and left hand small grass seeds spacers with 3/8-16 x 1 long bolts (#12) supplied with kit. 9. Carefully lower box onto the frame making sure the y-tubes fit into the holes on the seed deflector. 10. Refer to Figure 11. Bolt seed box to spacers with 3/8-16 x 1 long bolts (#3) and 5/16-18 x 3/4 long flange bolts (#4) that 3

Install spacer plate (#15) on each end of seeder with 5/8-11 x 2 1/2 long bolts (#16) using 5/8 flat washers (#17) for spacing between the seed box and the spacer plate. Reattach parking stand (3-point units only). Figure b. Turf Drive Units - see Figure 15 & Figure 16. Drill two 9/32 holes, see Figure 15. Relocate the Latch Keeper Bracket and the two Chain Guard Brackets as shown in Figure Figure Relocation for drive chain guard brackets: a. Ag Drive Units. Drill four 9/32 holes, see Figure 13. Relocate the Latch Keeper Bracket and the two Chain Guard Brackets as shown in Figure Figure /20/06

5 Figure Reassemble chain(s) to feed cup drive on right hand end, making adjustments as necessary. Install chain guard. 14. Front and End Wheel Units - Route hoses through box supports and wheel bracket hose retainers (see your Operator s manual for detailed instructions on hydraulic plumbing.) Installation of Replacement Chain Guard 1. Remove three chain guard brackets (#1), see Figure Figure Figure 19. Install two new latch keeper brackets and three new chain guard brackets (#2) using 1/4-20 x 3/4 long bolts, and 1/4 flange nuts. Figure Figure Drill four 9/32 holes on bottom right hand end plate and two 9/32 holes on the box right hand end plate as shown, see Figure Bushel Box Hole Locations Refer to Figure 20: 1. Eight 11/32 diameter holes will be required for mounting your Small Grass Seeds Box. These hole locations can be made off existing holes as shown. Mark and drill the holes using the dimensions shown. 2. The four holes marked Center Mounting Holes will be used to mount your Small Grass Seeds Box. You will need to remove the four 5/16-18 x 3/4 long flange bolts. Keep hardware to be used later. 30 Bushel Box Hole Locations Refer to Figure 21: 1. Ten 11/32 diameter holes will be required for mounting your Small Grass Seeds Box. These hole Location can be made off existing holes as shown. Mark and drill the holes using 5

6 Great Plains Mfg., Inc. the dimensions shown. 2. The two holes marked Center Mounting Holes will be used to mount your Small Grass Seeds Box. You will need to remove the two 5/16-18 x 3/4 long flange bolts. Keep hardware to be used later. Slow Moving Vehicle Bracket Mounting Refer to Figure 22 & Figure 23. Remove 5/16-18 x 3/4 long flange bolts (#1) and install slow moving vehicle bracket (#2) in the proper hole locations for your size seed box using the 5/16-18 x 3/4 long flange bolts. 7 Small Seeds Box Mounting Refer to Figure 23: Center Small Seeds Box and fasten using the 5/16-18 x 2 long flange bolts (#3), spacers (#4), 5/16 flat washers (#5) and 5/16 flange nuts (#6) in the four center holes positioning the reinforcement plate (#7) against the Small Seeds Box. On the ends bolt the box to seeder using six 5/16-18 x 1 long flange bolts (#8) and adding the reinforcement strap (#9) to the inside of the seeder box. At the bottom hole on the end plate use two 5/16-18 x 1 1/4 long flange bolts (#10) and position the short reinforcement straps (#11) as shown. Using the bottom hole of the shorter reinforcement strap as a pilot, drill a hole through the seeder box and fasten using 5/16-18 x 1 1/4 long flange bolts (#10). Install Slow Moving Vehicle Emblem to bracket using 1/4-20 x 1/4 long screw (#12), 1/4 lock washer (#13) and 1/4 nut (#14). Small Grass Seeds Hose Installation Refer to Figure 24: Clamp the small seed hose (#1) to the small seed cup with a small hose clamp (#2) and route to the proper y-tube (#3) using another clamp to fasten. 8 Great Plains Mfg., Inc. Small Seeds Drive Instructions If your seeder already has the Agitator Option, skip this section and go to page 9. Drive Mounting Holes On the left hand end of your seeder: 1. Eight 9/32 diameter holes will be required to install brackets for the small grass seeds drive guards. Mark and drill these holes using the dimensions shown in Figure Figure Figure One 17/32 diameter hole will be required for an idler. Mark and drill these holes using the dimensions shown in Figure Figure Two 13/32 diameter holes will be required for sprocket assembly. Mark and drill these holes using the dimensions shown in Figure 27. Drive Installation Refer to Figure 28: 1. Attach latch keeper bracket (#1) and drive guard brackets (#2 & #3) as shown with 1/4-20 x 3/4 long flange bolts (#4) and 1/4 nuts (#5). 2. Install idler assembly-short (#10) with a 1/2-13 x 1 1/4 long carriage bolt (#12), idler spacer (#11), 1/2 lock washer (#13) and 1/2 nut (#14). Leave hardware loose for now. 3. Install sprocket assembly (#6) with 3/8-16 x 1 1/2 long bolts (#9), 3/8 flat washers (#8), spacers (#7) and 3/8 nuts (#15) as shown. 4. Install 23 tooth drive sprocket (#16) to roller left end drive shaft with 1/4 x 1 long key (#17), aligning with the 40 tooth sprocket on the sprocket assembly (#6). NOTE: The 38 tooth sprocket on the sprocket assembly (#6) is used only for the Agitator Option. 5. Attach jack shaft assembly (#18) leaving the two 3/8-16 x 1 long bolts (#19), 3/8 flat washers (#20) and 3/8 nuts (#21) loose for now. 6. Jack shaft sprocket assembly: a. Install speed change sprocket (#22) using a 3/16 x 1 long key (#23) and two 1/4-20 x 1/4 long set screws (#24), aligning either 48 tooth or 16 tooth sprocket (depending on high or low range) with the 23 tooth sprocket on sprocket assembly (#6). b. On the opposite side of the jack shaft assembly, install the 19 tooth sprocket (#25) with a 3/16 x 1 long key (#23), aligning with either the 15 tooth or 48 tooth sprocket (depending on high or low range) on the small grass seeds cup drive (#26). Install idler assemblies (#27) as shown with 1/2-13 x 1/ 4 long carriage bolts (#12), 1/2 lock washers (#13) and 1/2 nuts (#14) leaving hardware loose for now. Refer to Figure 29: Bushel Box Seeder - place the 90 pitch chain (#1), the 72 pitch chain (#2) and the 63 pitch chain (#3) as shown and check alignment of sprockets. Realign if necessary Bushel Box Seeder - place the 90 pitch chain (#1), the 72 pitch chain (#2) and the 63 pitch chain (#3) as shown. To chain #3 add an extra 4 links supplied with kit. Check alignment of sprockets and realign if necessary. 8 2/20/06

9 12994 Figure Refer to Figure 28 and adjust idler assemblies (#10) and (#27) as needed to tighten chains. Tighten all hardware making sure sprockets stay aligned and chains remain tight. 10. Install two safety decals (#28) on locations shown. 11. Position chain guards (#29), (#30) and (#31) as shown on chain guard brackets and fasten with rubber latches. Seeders with Agitator Option If your seeder already has the Agitator Option, follow Drive Installation on page 8 steps 5 through 8. Add 10 chain links, included with kit, to agitator chain. Install a safety decal (#28) on the small seeds box as shown, see Figure 28. Replace your agitator chain guards with the small seeds chain guards and fasten with rubber latches. Figure
