5 3. Descriptin f the MANIAC II The MANIAC II RGBA LED MOVING HEAD FOGGER is tw machines in ne. Intelligent mving light fixture with a fgger built right in. It utilizes a ttal f 24 5W LED lamps in Red, Green, Blue, and Amber fr rapid clr changing alng with dimmer, strbe and clr mixing functins. This machine can be used with its fg and lights, lights nly r fg nly. Its adjustable fgging effects are amazing when used in cnjunctin with the LED lighting r withut. The MANIAC II s instant stp technlgy allws fr bursts f fg withut any wispy fg escaping when yu dn t want it. The full 540 degree pan takes apprximately 2 secnds t cmplete, while the 270 degree tilt nly needs abut ¾ secnd, s yu can get the fg and light t where yu want it, quickly! This machine can perate n a flat surface r hung verhead using the included hardware and c-clamps. 4. 6 4.1 Unpacking & Handling Precautins Please check the shipping cntainer fr any damage which may have ccurred during shipping. If the bx appears t be damaged, inspect yur machine thrughly fr any signs f damage and make sure all equipment necessary t perate the machine has arrived intact. Remve fam spacer befre peratin! If shipping yur MANIAC II reinstall fam spacer t prevent damage during shipping. Befre perating, please take the time t fully read and understand all the infrmatin prvided in this manual. 5.1 Selecting The Lcatin 5. Operating the MANIAC II Secure a level, dry lcatin fr the MANIAC II t rest slidly n the flr r hang suspended. Yu can find the steps within this sectin n hw t cnvert the MANIAC II frm flr peratin t hanging peratin. Make sure that yur MANIAC II is pinted in a directin that leaves an pen area ut in frnt s that the fg can escape withut restrictin. Ensure the frnt f the machine is nt directed twards anything that culd cause a hazardus r unsafe envirnment. 5.2 Electrical Pwer Requirements The MANIAC II requires a grunded 120V circuit fr peratin. The MANIAC II uses a 15 amp breaker fr 120V. If yu have any dubts abut the capacity r grunding f yur existing circuits, cnsult a qualified electrician. 5.3 Hking Things Up Remve the fluid cap n the fluid tank in the base f the machine. Only fill until yu reach the line marked MAX n the tank. Use nly CITC apprved fgging fluid. LARGER FLUID CNECTI: By using the supplied 42 tubing and adapters, it is pssible t supply yur MANIAC II frm a larger external fluid surce, instead f the 1.2 Liter n-bard cntainer. CITC SmartFg fluid is available in 1-galln bttles r 5-galln Cubitainers, as well as 55-galln drums. T draw frm the Larger Fluid Cnnectin, use the fllwing set f instructins: The MANIAC II s n-bard pump can draw up t 6 feet vertically, and 25 feet in a hrizntal run. Lnger distances r heights can cause pump damage. The fluid cntainer shuld never be lcated in a psitin that is higher than the MANIAC II. This culd result in siphning r fluid leakage. It will als prevent the fluid return frm functining crrectly, which may cause damage t the MANIAC II. If yu are using fluid tubes f greater length than the 42 sectins included, the pump may take lnger t prime. Fr best results, the pump shuld be primed befre shw peratin. 5

7 Lcate the fluid cnnectins n the left frnt f the MANIAC II (see belw). Carefully discnnect the 2 brass quick-cnnect fittings leading t Liquid Input and Liquid Output. Clip the black zip ties n the quick-cnnect fittings and detach the tubing leading t the n-bard cntainer. Install the Larger Fluid Cnnectin tubing nt the fittings. Make sure that the tube marked Input is n the Liquid Input fitting and the tube marked Output is n the Liquid Output fitting. Tighten new zip ties arund the tubing and fittings. Clip ff ends. Reattach the brass fittings t the Liquid Input and Liquid Output. Insert the ther ends f the tubing int the 1-galln r 5-galln cntainer. Make sure the ends f the tubing are as clse t the bttm f the cntainer as pssible. Screw the white cap nt the 1-galln r 5-galln cntainer. Yu shuld nw be able t use the Larger Fluid Cnnectin. Check the fittings fr leaks and tighten if necessary. T return t the n-bard fluid cntainer, reverse this prcess. In and Out are indicated n the black cntainer cap. Attach the pwer crd by inserting blue cnnectr int the receptacle n the machine. Twist t lck in place. The MANIAC II can accmmdate 3-Pin r 5-Pin DMX. Install DMX cables accrdingly. 6

8 5.4 Unlcking the X and Y Axis Lcks The MANIAC II is shipped with its X & Y Axis Lcks engaged. YOU MUST UNLOCK THE X / Y LOCKS BEFORE TURNING OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE! Between the mving yke and the statinary base f the machine yu will see a small lever. Slide the lever t release the first lck. The secnd lck is fund up higher between the yke and mving head. Slide this lever as well t release the lck. These levers allw yu t lck bth the X and Y axes in many different psitins fr shipping and/r strage. It is recmmended that yu always lck this machine when transprting t prevent damage. 5.5 Operatin Once the MANIAC II is in a safe and secure lcatin and unlcked, flip the pwer switch t the psitin. The MANIAC II will begin its 5 minute warming up prcess. During this prcess it will als perfrm diagnstics which may cause the LED lights t cme n and the head may spin. RED LEDs illuminate the fluid tank while the machine is warming up and turn BLUE when the Maniac II is ready t emit fg. The MANIAC II is designed t prduce shrt bursts f fg. Running the fg fr an extended amunt f time will cl the heating element used t prduce the fg. This will cause the MANIAC II t mmentarily stp fgging t heat back up t perating temperature. The pan/tilt and LED lighting functins are nt affected during reheat. During peratin yu may ccasinally ntice a very brief stutter in the peratin f the unit. This des nt affect the perfrmance f the MANIAC II, and it will catch up with the shw prgram almst immediately. Fg Operating Times Times are an apprximatin. The MANIAC II was designed fr quick fg blasts, nt cntinuus fg peratin. 7

9 5.6 DMX Cntrl After the MANIAC II is receiving a DMX signal via its 3-pin r 5-pin panel, the LCD screen will nly display the DMX-512 address settings page. Yu can adjust the DMX address by pressing the UP r DOWN buttns. The DMX channel that yu pick will use that channel and the nine fllwing channels t cntrl the MANIAC II. 10 5.7 Wireless Remte The included wireless remte has already been synced t wrk with yur new MANIAC II. If yu need t reprgram yur wireless remte yu must g t the LCD menu display and scrll t the REMOTE SETUP page. Make sure it is displaying the wrd. Turn the machine ff fr 6 secnds and flip back n. This will allw yu t prgram the included remte. Pressing any buttn n the remte in the first 15 secnds will cause the LCD display n the MANIAC II t flash twice. Yu can nw use this remte t perate the machine. The wireless remte included nly cntrls the fg and functin f the MANIAC II. The buttns bth wrk the same. They turn the fg n when depressed and ff when released. 5.8 System Menu MENU: This buttn allws yu t scrll thrugh all 6 menu pages. UP: Increase value. DOWN: Decrease value and VOLUME buttn fr turning / fg in manual mde. ENTER: IN / OUT and the STOP buttn fr turning fg in manual mde. 11 5.9 Hanging / Flr Operatin T switch frm flr peratin t hanging peratin, discnnect the 2 brass quick-cnnect fittings frm the Fluid Input and Fluid Output. Open side tank dr and slide tank ut f the inner chamber lcated in the base f the machine. Set aside. Lck X and Y axis lcks. Gently place MANIAC II n its side s the bttm f the machine is accessible. Attach the included hanging brackets by lining up the tabs n the brackets with the hles n the base f the machine. Spin bth screw handles clckwise until they snap in place. If need be, use a wrench t make certain they are nt under tightened. Repeat fr remaining hanging bracket. Attach munting clamps (c-clamp) rated fr the apprpriate weight capacity t the hanging bracket. Yu must use tw munting clamps t munt the MANIAC II. Make certain that the structure r surface nt which yu are munting this machine can supprt the weight. Munt the MANIAC II securely t a rigging pint, such as an elevated platfrm r truss alng with a safety cable. Reinstall fluid tank (nw inverted) int the inner fluid tank chamber. Unlck X and Y axis lcks befre perating Cleaning and strage It is recmmended that after 40 hurs f cntinuus use r befre this machine is put int strage, yu run a 95% distilled water and 5% distilled white vinegar mixture thrugh the machine. Run a small amunt f distilled water thrugh machine and turn ff. When machine is unplugged and cled dwn, use a vacuum (r dry cmpressed air) and a sft brush t remve dust cllected n the air vents and external surfaces. T prevent damage, d nt spin any f the cling fans using cmpressed air. WARNING: T prevent damage, d nt stre, transprt r ship with fg fluid inside! 10
