Last year at this time I was wrking n thirteen (13) unpermitted prperties. VRBO/ Hmeaway/ Vactinrentals.cm : Currently n VRBO there are 580 (523 last mnth) rentals and Hmeaway has 523 (526 last mnth) as f 9/14/17. Of nte, there are nw multiple renal listings fr Htel, Mtel, Inns and B&B s which accunt fr the large number f increase in listings. Legislative Develpments: There has been a lt f activity n the Legislative frnt with the budget nearing cmpletin and the insertin f mtins that cntain legislatin that wuld have an impact n shrt term rentals and the cllectin/distributin f rm tax. It is a separate agenda item, but there has been a lt f activity in the Turism Zne ffice t track dwn infrmatin, write letters t lcal representatives, jint finance cmmittee members and municipalities. 4 There is nt the technlgy available per ur discussin with the Airbnb tax plicy team t remit rm tax back crrectly t municipalities. They use zip cde data t remit rm tax and as we all knw we have multiple zip cdes in each municipality. The wrding f the mtin seems t place the respnsibility n the ldging marketplace as ppsed t hw the Statute defines the respnsible party. During cmpliance and enfrcement prceedings we have been always able t dcket a judgment against a prperty. Hwever, the language in the mtin puts the respnsibility n the ldging marketplace. Finally, the lack f wrding t address Turism Znes is a cncern.
