4 Product description Wen creating a conventional concrete frame construction consisting for example of walls and slabs, te traditional metod of ensuring reinforcement continuity between te two elements requires complicated, time consuming and ultimately expensive site-adapted formwork. Rebar connection systems, sometimes known as continuity strips, provide a fast, elegant and cost effective solution wic allows formwork to be quickly erected and te concrete cast. Once te formwork is stripped, te reverse of te continuity strip can be removed, exposing te captive rebar stirrups wic are ten rebent out to form te starter laps for te next element. Because of tese benefi ts, it is now diffi cult to imagine a modern concrete construction witout tese connection systems. Among te various types available, te FRANK Stabox represents te State of te Art. Its market-proven combination of micro-profi led seet steel wit a dovetail or trapezoidal box sapes ensures a strong ancorage in te concrete, meaning tat Stabox satisfi es te igest design requirements for transverse and longitudinal force transmission in te joint. 9 Manufacturing options In order to keep case dimensions to a reasonable size, stirrups are overlapped inside te case as sown. 12 Installation and use Fixing instructions Stabox rebar connection system is fi xed in place by eiter nailing it to te formwork (timber formwork) tying it to te reinforcement (sliding formwork) riveting it to te formwork (metal formwork) Rebending Please make sure tat only suitable tools are used for rebending (refer to cart): Lift rebar sligtly and bend up to an angle of max. 20º from te case. Using te FRANK rebending tool, gradually straigten te rebar until it is perpendicular to te case. After eac incremental movement, readjust te rebending tool so tat it seated as close to te apex of te bend as possible. Te recommended maximum rebent kink dimension according to te DBV data seet is d s /3. Do not carry out rebending at temperatures below -5 ºC. Take care not to overstraigten te rebar as furter bending to correct tis may cause microscopic cracks in te bar and weaken te joint. 13 Installation and use Opening te rear cover Once te formwork is stripped, pierce te rear cover close to te edge wit a claw ammer and lever it out of te case. Fixing to curved formwork Te lateral webs may be cut wit an angle grinder in order to reduce te longitudinal rigidity of te element. Two to Four cuts will normally be enoug depending on te radius to be acieved and te element can ten be curved to follow te radius of te formwork. Please note: Te interior rebars must not be damaged. Remove cover (as described above) and rebend steel rebars according to te instructions given on page 12. Te reinforcement is installed, te formwork is erected and te 2nd concrete pour can take place. 22 Coupler Product description Te simple rebar connection system tat gives 100% of calculated load transmission suitable for bot static and dynamic loads. Te coupler is designed as a treaded reinforcememt connection for formed concrete construction joints. Reinforcement work is normally carried out on bot sides of te construction joint using lap joints or one side is ancored. Tis acts against cracking and guarantees optimum interlocking between bot concrete pours. Te joint between socket and bar is terefore not positioned in te construction joint plane were cracks are likely to occur, but embedded in te concrete. Tis ensures tat tis joint is protected against corrosion to te best possible extent.
