2 Application areas for MANN+HUMML fuel filters Te rapid development of diesel tecnology as made te filtration of diesel fuel before it reaces te injection system a top priority. Badly filtered diesel causes particle erosion, corrosion, and can lead to damage in te injection system. Te contamination of fuel wit particles and water occurs during production, transportation, in storage, wen te fuel is delivered, and wen te tank is filled. Tis contamination as to be removed in a reliable way. Te MANN+HUMML product range as te rigt filter for all types of injection systems. 3 MANN+HUMML Fuel filter media Modern diesel and petrol injection systems require te igest fuel quality and terefore set ever iger standards for te filtration of fuel. Te newly patented MANN+HUMML multigrade media were developed for diesel and petrol engines and meet today's igest requirements for fuel filter elements. Multilayer tecnology ensures tat sensitive injection systems are protected from even te finest particles. In comparison to oter media available on te market te multigrade media offers a performance increase in dirt olding capacity of up to 00% wit te same ig initial separation efficiency. Te family of multigrade media represents an important milestone in te field of fuel filtration. Tese media are used in all our ig performance filters. On page of tis catalogue you will find MANN+HUMML spin-on filters wit te multigrade media HC (ig capacity wit water separation), H (ig filter fineness) and H+ (igest filter fineness). Tis range economically covers all te requirements of modern fuel filtration. Te MANN+HUMML multigrade media guarantee te protection necessary for te sensitive injection systems of today. 4 MANN+HUMML Spin-on fuel filters MANN+HUMML spin-on filters are used for te filtration of fuel in a number of applications. MANN+HUMML as been a leading manufacturer of spin-on filters worldwide for many years. Te filters are distributed under te MANN-FILTR brand and under a variety of customer brands. Depending on te application, te spin-on filter can be equipped wit various components suc as a different filter medium, non-return valve or bypass valve, etc.. Te liquid to be filtered enters te cover plate troug te concentric inlet openings, flows troug te filter element and te cleaned liquid ten leaves troug te central connection. Te filter cover plate as an undetacable seal wic ensures secure sealing to te outside under all operating conditions. Maintenance Te time for maintenance is usually defined by te engine or macine manufacturer. Maintenance simply requires replacement of te complete spin-on filter. 10 MANN+HUMML In-line fuel filters Te range of MANN+HUMML in-line fuel filters starts wit te PreLine preliminary filter for te separation of water and includes te main fuel filter wit single or duplex versions, rigt up to duplex filters wit cangeover. Te filtration caracteristics are mainly defined by te spinon filter used or te filter media. 11 Fitting and maintenance Te filter is fitted in te pipeline, wereby te flow direction as to be observed. Tis is indicated by arrows on te connection treads. Te time for maintenance is usually defined by te engine or equipment manufacturer. Maintenance simply requires replacement of te complete spin-on filter. Te spin-on filter can be easily removed using te respective MANN+HUMML filter wrenc (see page 05). Te in-line filter allows various combinations between te spin-on filter and te filter ead. Tis catalogue only lists te basic types. If you do not find an in-line filter suitable for your application, please get in touc wit your MANN+HUMML contact partners. Tey will be appy to advise you on te appropriate in-line filter consisting of a filter ead, spin-on filter and accessories. It is optionally available wit a manual pump and eater. Single ead Page 80 Te universal ead for fuel filtration to reduce weigt and save space. In te orizontal plane tere are tree usable inlet openings and one outlet in te vertical plane. Te ead is equipped wit a vent screw. Single ead wit flange Page 8 In one plane tere are respectively two inlet openings for fuel on te raw side and two outlets on te clean side. Te ead is suitable for fitting to a vertical mounting surface. Tere is a venting possibility. 6

13 Overview of fuel filter eads Duplex wit cangeover Page Bot eads are manufactured in cast aluminium. Tey allow a cange of filter during operation. Using a cangeover lever it is possible to direct te flow troug a single filter or troug bot filters in parallel. If necessary a MANN+HUMML service switc or service indicator can be fitted (see pages 06-0). Bot eads are equipped wit venting. Duplex wit cangeover in speroidal grapite cast iron (N-GJS-400-5) Page 84 Tis duplex filter is classified according to prevailing regulations in te marine field suc as SOLAS * and GL ** and is predestined for use in marine applications on sips. 14 In-line fuel filters PreLine preliminary filter for te separation of water Increasing pressures in injection systems ave in turn considerably increased te requirements for fuel filtration wit regard to te separation of water and particles. Te injection pump manufacturers ave terefore drawn up a list of requirements. MANN+HUMML filters more tan completely fulfil te requirements. Our PreLine preliminary fuel filter series reliably meets te required water separation efficiency of at least % acc. to ISO 4020 tanks to te specially developed meltblown medium. Te standard version as a manual pump and manual drain. Oter versions are available wit an electrical diesel eater and water sensor. 24 MANN+HUMML Fuel filter elements MANN+HUMML filter elements for fuel are equipped wit a star-pleated bellows and feature an ideal surface for te retention of dirt particles wit a correspondingly longer service life. Design Maintenance Te filter element consists of te two end caps wit te filter medium fitted in te middle. Depending on te type of element, end caps are available in metal or metalfree versions. Te end caps are fitted wit seals wic ensure reliable sealing between te raw and te clean side. Depending on te application, filter elements are available wit element protection troug an integrated andle. Te flow of liquid troug te element takes place from te outside to te inside. Te time wen maintenance is required is usually defined by te engine or macine producer. Maintenance simply requires replacement of te used element. 88
