Personal injury/ material damage due to electric sock in case of damage to te connection cable B C D E F G H Ceck te connection cable wit regard to damages before te first usage and ten at regular intervals. Do not mount cable to moving parts or friction points. If tis cannot be avoided, use spring coils respectively protective conduits. Personal injury/ damage to material due to spilled or leaked lubricant B C D F G H K Be careful wen filling te reservoir and wen connecting or disconnecting lubricant feed lines. Always use suitable ydraulic screw connections and lubrication lines for te stated pressures. Do not mount lubrication lines to moving parts or friction points. If tis cannot be avoided, use spring coils respectively protective conduits. Loss of electrical protective function due to faulty installation of electrical components after repair Reservoir wit follower plate is subjected to spring load G G After replacement of electrical components carry out an electrical safety test according to ISO/ EN Remove reservoir wit follower plate only wen te spring is quite released (i.e. te reservoir is empty). Provide adequate protective measure, e.g. fastening straps, wen loosening te reservoir. Do not work wit your ead directly above te reservoir. 17 2.Lubricants EN 2. Lubricants 2.1 General information Lubricants are used specifically for certain application purposes. In order to fulfil teir tasks, lubricants must fulfil various requirements. Te most important requirements for lubricants are: Reduction of abrasion and wear Corrosion protection Noise imisation protection against contaation or penetration of foreign objects Cooling (primarily wit oils) longevity (pysical/ cemical stability) economic and ecological aspects 2.2 Selection of lubricants SKF considers lubricants to be an element of system design. A suitable lubricant is selected already wen designing te macine and forms te basis for te planning of a centralized lubrication system. Te selection is made by te manufacturer or operator of te macine, preferably togeter wit te lubricant supplier based on te requirement profile defined. Sould you ave little or no experience wit te selection of lubricants for centralized lubrication systems, please contact SKF. If required we will be glad to support customers to select suitable components for feeding te selected lubricant and to plan and design teir centralized lubrication system. You will avoid possible downtimes troug damage to your macine or system or damage to te centralized lubrication system. 2.3 Material compatibility Lubricants must generally be compatible wit te following materials: steel, grey iron, brass, copper, aluium NBR, FPM, ABS, PA, PUR 2.4 Temperature caracteristics Te lubricant used must be suitable for te specific ambient temperature of te product. Te viscosity required for proper operation of te product must be adered to and must not be exceeded in case of low temperatures nor fall below specification in case of ig temperatures. Specified viscosities, see capter Tecnical data

18 EN 2. Lubricants 2.5 Ageing of lubricants After a prolonged downtime of te macine, te lubricant must be inspected prior to re-commissioning as to weter it is still suitable for use due to cemical or pysical ageing. We recommend tat you undertake tis inspection already after a macine downtime of 1 week. If doubts arise as to a furter suitability of te lubricant, please replace it prior to recommissioning and, if necessary, undertake initial lubrication by and. It is possible for lubricants to be tested in te company's laboratory for teir suitability for being pumped in centralized lubrication systems (e.g. "bleeding"). Please contact SKF. if you ave furter questions regarding lubricants. You may request an overview of te lubricants tested by SKF. w ly lubricants specified for te product (see capter Tecnical data) may be used. Unsuitable lubricants may lead to a failure of te product. Do not mix lubricants. Tis may ave unforeseeable effects on te usability and terefore on te function of te centralized lubrication system. Wen andling lubricants te relevant safety data seets and azard designations, if any, on te packaging ave to be observed. Due to te multitude of possible additives, individual lubricants, wic according to te manufacturer's data seets fulfil te necessary specification, may not, in fact, be suitable for use in centralized lubrication systems (e. g. incompatibility between syntetic lubricants and materials). In order to avoid tis, always use lubricants tested by SKF

35 4. Tecnical data EN 4.5 Functioning principle of te intermittent low-level indication Te intermittent low-level indication operates free of contact. Its main components are te following: firmly positioned magnetic switc (I) inside of te reservoir bottom flexible guide plate (II) connected to te stirring paddle wit a magnet (III) and a control cam (IV) 4 If te reservoir is filled wit a lubrication grease suitable for te intermittent low-level indication and te pump is operating, ten te guide plate (II) is deflected by te resistance of te lubrication grease. As a consequence te magnet (III) connected to te guide plate (II) is moved on its inner circuit and cannot trigger a pulse at te magnetic switc (I) wit its magnetic field. A control cam (IV) positively guides te magnet togeter wit te pivoted guide plate towards te outside during eac revolution. As soon as te guide plate leaves te control cam, te lubricant's resistance puses te guide plate togeter wit te magnet to te inside again. As soon as te lubricant inside te reservoir as fallen to tat level tat te lubricant's resistance is no more sufficient to furter deflect te guide plate (II), te magnet (III) remains on te outer circuit and triggers a pulse eac time it slides across te magnetic switc (I). If during an operating cycle te magnet (III) slides across te magnetic switc (I) six times, a low-level signal is sent by te control printed circuit board of te pump. For programg of te external control of te pump, see corresponding capter in tese instructions. 36 EN 4. Tecnical data 4.6 Limits of use of te intermittent low-level indication Te following lubricant consistencies ave to be complied wit in order to ensure te correct functioning of te intermittent low-level indication. Above te stated range of temperature a correct functioning of te intermittent low-level indication cannot be ensured. Te inferior temperature ranges require te suitability of te lubricant for te respective temperature range. Oterwise te too ig consistency of te lubricant may result in malfunctions, e.g. interruption of te lubricant supply, or in damages to te pump (e. g. bending of te stirring paddle). Te intermittent low-level indication is not appropriate for lubricants of NLGI class F C NLGI 0,5 NLGI 1,0 NLGI 1,5 NLGI 2,0-36 -

37 4. Tecnical data EN 4.7 Processing of te low-level signals in case of external controller and monitoring of te pump Te statements apply for pumps witout control pcb wit external control and monitoring by te operator. To avoid early low-level indication (e.g. caused by air inclusions or wave formation in te lubricant) in case of external controller or monitoring te following conditions ave to be fulfilled by programg te external controller accordingly. After eac operating cycle te pulses of te intermittent low-level indications ave to be deleted. 4 Pulses must never be added up over several operating cycles. Tis will result in an early low-level indication. Operating cycle 32 seconds: 'Eac operating cycle requires at least 6 signals by te magnetic switc.
