Te Solis LEDs deliver several watts of total output power from a ligtweigt, vibrationfree package. Tey provide igpower illumination tat can be coupled directly to te epiillumination pat of a microscope. Ligt from te LED is collimated troug a large Ø48.3 mm aperture tat can be attaced via an adapter (available below) to te epiillumination pats of many industrystandard microscopes suc as Olympus, Nikon, Leica, and Zeiss, as well as te sixcube epiillumination pat available on many of Torlabs' Cerna Microscopes. To install, select one of Torlabs' microscope port adapters (available separately below), screw it onto te end of te ousing, and secure te LED to a compatible microscope. Te ligtweigt design features passive cooling instead of an internal fan in order to eliminate vibrations tat normally degrade image quality in a microscopy setup. Eac LED is mounted to a eatsink inside of a mm x mm x 99.5 mm (5.03" x 5.03" x 3.92") vented ousing to efficiently dissipate eat. s an added level of protection, te integrated internal memory is programmed to trigger an automatic sutdown if te LED internal temperature reaces 95 C, preventing damage from overeating. Te LED will restart after it as cooled to a temperature below 95 C. In addition to a collimating lens, eac Solis LED also includes a diffuser plate (Item # DG201500), wic can be used to make te output profile of te LED more uniform. Installation instructions are provided on te Diffuser Install tab. Te DC2200 driver (available separately below) as an intuitive, toucscreen interface tat supports easy plugandplay operation of te Solis LED ead. Te driver allows te LED output power to be set as a fraction of te maximum desired brigtness or controlled by setting te LED drive current, supporting a range of applications. For users tat require additional control, te driver also includes modulated and pulsed modes tat use internally programmed functions, as well as te ability to control te LED output via an external signal. Furter details on te driver functions are provided on te LED Driver tab. Wile typical applications involve mounting te LED directly to a microscope port via a microscope adapter, a 1/4"20 (M6) tapped ole is provided at eac corner on te back of te ousing for custom mounting applications (see te DIY Mounting tab for details). Te lens tube can also be easily removed to adjust te lensto LED distance if necessary; lens tube removal is described on te Diffuser Install tab.

For cases were two LEDs are connected simultaneously, te front panel of te driver can be used to select wic LED receives te drive current. Te driver can eiter be controlled locally via te device front panel, as sown in te screensot below, or from a PC using te USB 2.0 port on te back of te device and te included software package. Te main menu of te front panel's touc screen display allows te user to select between operating te LED in constant current mode or brigtness mode, internally or externally pulsed modes, and TTL modulation. In addition to reading data stored in te EEPROM memory of LEDs wit tis feature, te driver can also initiate a test procedure to measure te LED forward voltage, from wic it can determine te maximum current limit. In addition to te USB 2.0 port and LED connection terminals, te back of te ousing includes an SM input for te external modulation signals, an interlock circuit tat can be connected to a usersupplied emergency off switc, and grounded jack tat can be used wit ESD protection equipment. LED Driver Display and Operating Modes Constant Current and Brigtness Modes Tese modes allow te LED to be driven at a constant current eiter entered directly by te user or calculated as a percentage of te total LED brigtness. In bot modes, te driver will automatically detect te factory set LED current limit. lternatively, a lower, userdefined current limit can also be entered. In Brigtness mode, 100% brigtness corresponds to te current limit. Pulse and Modulation Modes: Internal and External Te DC2200 offers several metods for generating pulsed or modulated LED output, eiter driven internally by te DC2200 or controlled by an external signal over SM. Eac mode uses a different set of user inputs, allowing te LED driver to be easily adapted to different applications. Te five options are outlined below. Main Menu Screen of te DC2200 LED Driver Pulse Widt Modulation (PWM) Mode (Internal): Tis mode generates a train of rectangular pulses to modulate te current supplied to te LED. Te driver current wen te LED is switced "ON", frequency, duty cycle, and pulse count are all user selectable. Pulse Mode (Internal): Tis mode operates using rectangular pulses to modulate te drive current, but allows te user to specify a different set of te LED parameters tan in PWM mode. Te pulse caracteristics are controlled by a userselected LED brigtness, ON time, OFF Time, and Pulse Count.

6 Internal Modulation Mode (Internal): For applications requiring more tan simply switcing te LED on and off, tis mode allows te LED current to be modulated using eiter a sine, square, or triangle waveform. Bot te minimum and maximum LED currents can be set. Modulation frequencies from 20 Hz to 100 khz are supported in tis mode. External Modulation Mode (External): For more demanding applications, an external modulation signal can be applied via te SM connector on te rear panel of te driver, wic accepts input from 0 to 5 V. Tis terminal supports up to 250 khz modulation of te LED current for sine wave functions tat do not exceed 20% of te full current scale. TTL Modulation Mode: Tis mode allows simple ON/OFF modulation of te LED to be integrated wit signals from oter equipment in te lab via te SM connector on te rear panel of te DC2200.
