6 INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONNECTING THE CHANNEL TO THE SUMP UNIT The sump unit does not show a male/female joint so as to increase the solutions for laying the element. Remove the female joint with appropriate tools (e.g. grinder) so as to place the channel alongside the sump unit (after cleaning) (Fig. 1) Move the channel alongside the sump unit by the male joint and proceed with the bonding steps as specified in the Gridiron technical sheets (Fig. 2) If a sump unit is used in the central position, the wall needs to be removed using appropriate tools (e.g. Grinder) on the knock-out section. If vibro base series sump units are used, you will find 3 sections corresponding to the various channel heights, whereas for R series sump units, there is only one knock-out section (Fig. 3) If it is necessary to hook up a channel in the side position (90 curve), which is only possible with the R series, proceed with the removal of the knock-out section in the side wall using appropriate tools (e.g. grinder). Complete the channel-sump unit joining as shown in the following points. (Fig. 4) Fig. 1 Fig Fig. 3 Fig. 4 INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONNECTING PIPES TO THE SUMP UNIT Gridiron sump units have a PVC sleeve fitted with lip elastomer seal and a special closure cap. If additional drainage points are required, the sump units have knock-out sections for connecting pipes Ø125 and more precisely: Sump unit VB100 = 1 knock-out section Sump unit VB150 = 3 knock-out sections Sump unit VB200 = 3 knock-out sections Sump units VB150 = 1 knock-out section Sump units VB210 = 3 knock-out sections Sump units VB265 = 3 knock-out sections LIST OF STEPS FOR JOINING A PIPE TO THE SUMP UNIT: Fig. 5 Fig. 6 1 Remove the cap from the sleeve (Fig. 5) 2 Check that the lip elastomer seal is positioned correctly (Fig. 6) 3 Lubricate the internal surface of the seal and the external surface of the pipe.
