1 ALAMO INDUSTRIAL Specifications Versa Series, 17 Mid-Mount Articulated Boom It is the purpose of this specification to describe a mid-mounted, articulated, hydraulically powered boom mower for cutting grass and brush along roadsides and other areas that are not accessible to conventional mowing equipment. The unit bid shall be the manufacturer s current production that meets or exceeds the following minimum specifications. Only a standard production machine can be bid on these specifications and a supplier will not be allowed to modify his standard production unit in order to meet these specifications. The unit bid must have been in production a minimum of 4-years and a user list shall be furnished upon request. Vendor Specs. FRAME: The main frame shall be mounted between the front and rear wheels of the tractor and braced to the front axle housing and rear axle. The frame shall be capable of interchanging with the boom, side mower, and side ditcher. HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR: The hydraulic reservoir shall have a minimum capacity of 60-gallons. Counterweight shall be a minimum of 1300 lbs. FILTER: The suction line filter shall be a minimum of 100-mesh. The main in-tank filter shall be 10 micron, 95 GPM full flow with restriction gauge. KING POST: The king post shall be a minimum of 4 shaft, made of 1020 steel with a yield strength of 48,000 lbs per square inch. The bearings shall be tapered roller, 3 I.D. and greaseable. The bearing basic load rating shall be 26,000 lbs. The turning arm shall have replaceable bushings. 17 BOOM ARM (Two Piece): Inner boom shall be 6 x 6 x ¼ wall. Outer boom shall be 5 x 5 x ¼ wall. Both pieces shall be square tubing with a yield strength of 50,000 lbs. per sq. in. The horizontal boom swing shall be hydraulically operated and capable of swinging 120- degrees. Units with less than 120-degree swing, and are unable to swing 105-degrees to the front or rear for transport, will not be accepted on this spec. BOOM REACHING CAPABILITIES (With 60 Boom Axe Head): Minimum reach up: Minimum reach out: Minimum reach down: 8 9 The mower shall be capable of mowing even with the rear tractor tire. Measurements based on 96 (outside measurements) tire spread with 18.4 x 30 tires. The unit shall have four-bar linkage to the head allowing 220-degree rotation. HYDRAULICS: The hydraulic pump shall use steel gears. Hydraulic flow shall be 51 GPM at 2400 RPM. The driveshaft assembly shall be rated at a minimum of 242-ft. lbs. torque. (Rear PTO pump drives available.) The suction line shall be 1-1/2 in diameter. The motor circuit hoses shall be 1-1/4 in diameter. Boom lines shall be 1-1/4 in diameter and made of steel. The inner boom shall have metal lines fastened to the outside front of the boom. HYDRAULICS Continued: The valve (to mower head) shall be two-position, controlled by an electric solenoid with direct acting relief valve, 1-1/4 porting and 2500 PSI. The outer boom shall have metal lines fastened to the inside of the boom for greater protection against being damaged by brush. 2 VALVE (Cylinder Controls): The valve shall be 4-spool, open center, tapered positive metering type, with adjustable main relief valve. Boom movement cylinders (lift, swing and dipper) shall have individual work port relief valves to give individual breakaway protection. SAFETY CAGE: A safety cage shall be installed on the right side and top of the operator s position. This protective screen shall be constructed of expanded metal and permanently mounted to the tractor. BOOM REST: A boom rest shall be installed on the rear axle or mower frame to cradle the boom when it is placed in the transport position. The boom rest must take the pressure off of the cylinders while in transport. WARRANTY: Warranty shall be a minimum of one-year for parts and labor. Non-governmental users are subject to a modified policy. 60 BOOM ROTARY BRUSH CUTTER DECK: The width of the deck shall be a minimum of 60 The deck shall be constructed of 10-gauge steel with 3/8 sides. Reinforcement of the top deck shall be made with 3/8 x 2-1/2 flat bar X-frame with reinforced spindle mount plate ½ x 12 x 20 long and bottom plate of ½ x 9 x 9. Full-length and replaceable skid shoes shall be used. DECK ROTATION: The rotation of the deck shall be 220-degrees. SPINDLE: The spindle shall be 4-1/2 x 9 alloy steel. It shall be splined, annealed 4140 alloy, and have a yield strength of 60,500 lbs./sq. in. Bearings shall be tapered roller, 2 I.D. top and 2-5/8 I.D. bottom, in oil bath. The housing shall be of 1030 cast steel unibody. MOTOR TO SPINDLE DRIVE: The motor to spindle drive shall be splined, direct drive, and enclosed. This specifically excludes chain or flexible couplers. BLADE BAR AND BLADES: The blade bar shall be three-leaf, stacked and bolted. Bottom leaf shall be 41-3/4 x 5 x 7/8 T-1 steel. Center leaf shall be 29-5/16 x 5 x 7/8 steel. Top leaf shall be 16-7/8 x 5 x 7/8 steel The blades shall be full swinging, 360-degrees. They shall be double edged and made of tempered steel with a hardness of Rc. The blades shall be 5/8 x 5 x 14-5/8 Blade bolts shall be heat-treated, 1-1/8 x 3, shouldered, grade 8 with castellated nut, lock washer and roll pin. HYDRAULIC MOTOR: The hydraulic motor shall have steel gears with a maximum rating of 90 HP, 2500 RPM, and 2500 PSI. SAFETY SHIELDS: The front shield shall be angle frame with a metal, hinged shield. The rear shield shall have 3-ply, full-length, rubber belting.
