2 ABOUT THE OPEN HOUSE Overview: A CENTENNIAL CELaEBRATION: The 2017 Selfridge Open House will feature the world famous U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. There will also be world class military and civilian air acts and ground displays of aircraft and equipment from all branches of the US Military, DHS, police, fire, and EMS. The show offers outstanding family oriented entertainment as well as terrific corporate hospitality options and extraordinary media coverage. We are pleased to be able to bring world class entertainment to the Greater Detroit area marks a very special year at Selfridge Air National Guard Base as it celebrates 100 years in service to our nation! Selfridge ranks among the ten oldest military air fields in the United States. Since the first military unit Company G, 33rd Infantry of the Michigan National Guard -- arrived at the air field in Macomb County s Harrison Township and the first Curtiss JN-4 Jenny wobbled into the air in the summer of 1917, Selfridge has time and time again been the location from which America s sons and daughters have answered their nation s call.
