5 Overhead Contact Line ADIF C-350 Technology jointly developed among ADIF and Spanish companies following the Energy Subsystem Technical Specification of Interoperability (TSI 2008) as well as the UIC and EN applicable norms. EC certified according to Energy Subsystem TSI

6 Main Features: Overhead Contact Line ADIF C-350 Contact wire: Cu-Mg 0.6 / 150 mm2. Tensioning 31,5 kn - Cu-Mg alloy is harder and more wear resistant than electrolytic Cu - Excellent power collection at high speed. Catenary wire: Cu /95 mm2.tension 15,45 kn Dropper: Bronze /16 mm2. Equipotentials Y dropper: Bronze / 35 mm2 Able to run up to 350 kph 6

7 Overhead Contact Line ADIF C-350 Distinguishing Elements Cilindrical foundations of reinforced concrete built by piling machines which allow an efficiency increase and improve control and tolerance of the execution. 7

8 Distinguishing Elements Overhead Contact Line ADIF C-350 High speed aerial catenary points (220 kph for diverted track), specially designed for an up to down wire contact slide movement over the pantograph (never laterally). This movement allows the system s adjusting and improves its safety and reliability. 8

11 Energy Supply Developments Standard implementation of IEC Adif has been pioneer on implementing the IEC communication norm in electrical facilities in Spain in the Madrid-Valencia HS line (8 substations and 44 autotransformers) Adif has developed there own functional specification for the 2x25 kv rail supply system. Adif has performed a R & D project to develop a Electrical Substation Simulation Platform (PSISE) to test distributed control system against a simulated substation. In this way control systems from different suppliers can be tested and approved in this platform. 11

12 Energy Supply Developments IEC Distinguishing issue Specific development of this norm for a system integrating data transmission between collateral substations and substations with their autotransformer associated centers (2x25 kv). In a near future Adif intention is to reduce the cabling installation by using field buses, allowing the communication and data transfer among all the substations and self transformers centers components(voltage and current measurement transformers, control units, protections, etc ) 12

13 Energy Supply Developments Improvements on defect isolation and Smart reconnection system ADIF s functional specifications, applied to all HS lines in commercial service. Able to detect a short circuit position with 750 m precision. It will allow in an AUTOMATIC WAY the short circuit section isolation and the reestablishment of the other track supply in 15 seconds. 13
