Working with Oc Via, Colas Rail is responsible for the design and construction of the line, and ensuring its running, upkeep, maintenance and renewal programmes until km/hour is the latest world speed record performed on an infrastructure installed by Colas Rail, on LGV East European Line. As early as 1972, Colas Rail worked on the Rheda station site during the first concrete track experiment. In 2002 Colas Rail completed the Cologne-Frankfurt line, and went on to produce concrete tracks in the UK and France. Colas Rail has always been involved in discussions and improvements on one of the world s highest-performance systems.

3 East-European high-sp DESIGN Performance, System Integrity and Safety Colas Rail has a long established design process that has resulted through its vast experience in high-speed Lines (TGV) with the knowledge of different technologies. This allows Colas Rail to develop detailed designs that fully integrate the various subsystems with physical and functional interface management down to individual components. Colas Rail has developed simulation tools (overhead catenary pantograph current collection ) and computer-aided design programmes that not only ensure that safety and required performance is achieved, but also allow the application of standards and components to produce systems that are specific to a particular country. For example the design of ballasted and non-ballasted (concrete slab) track. CONSTRUCTION Precision, Logistics and Methodology Track and overhead catenary are installed with great precision to tight tolerances to achieve performance and safe operation. Proven construction methods use road and rail supply systems for handling major bulk and high volume products (ballast, sleepers, stanchions, long welded rails ). These can require complex site facilities such as railheads for storage capacity, preassembly workshops and train marshalling. Methods and staging of the work to optimise construction logistics such as, laying signalling cables in troughs before the installation of overhead catenary stanchions. 4 COMMISSIONING Verification, Testing and Validation The testing from individual components to a full transportation system with many trains running is carried out by phasing the commissioning of the various sub systems and a ramping up of capacity. 5 SAFETY Safety is paramount while operating the high-speed line during the construction and commissioning phases (25 KV electrification and train management) and requires a robust construction & commissioning set of rules. Marocco high-speed line RENEWALS Brittany-Loire high-speed line Fast Removal and Renewal. Specialised plant and equipment allows highly mechanised and rapid renewals of the High-speed Lines. The use of high output track renewal trains optimises short possessions for the total replacement of the track with hand back of a fully operational railway. Renewal of contact wires and overhead catenary uses dedicated specialised engineering trains.
