3 Department of Energy Funding Opportunity for Smart Grid Investment Grant Program $3.4B Available Funds DOE will fund up to 50% of project costs Two Categories of Funding Small Projects Federal Share - $300K-$20M Large Projects Federal Share - $20M-$200M Letter of Intent due date July 16 Application Deadline August 6 3

13 Ameren Illinois Utilities Smart Grid Projects Rider mechanism for cost recovery Rider will be used to recover the unfunded part of DOE projects The ICC must first approve proposed projects prior to implementation and cost recovery Return of and on the investments will be part of the Rider mechanism Rider will recover associated incremental expenses Consumer protections included via annual reconciliations and Commission approval process 13
