1 EURO4M 2nd General Assembly Bucharest, Romania March Practical information- VENUE The National Meteorological Administration of Romania is pleased to host the EURO 4M 2nd General Assembly, to be held in Bucharest, Romania from 15 to 17 March 2011 at its headquarters. LOCATION The National Meteorological Administration of Romania is situated on the main road from the Airport Henri Coanda (Otopeni) to Bucharest, at about 5 Km distance (see the Bucharest map, attached). The succession interval of bus 783 is around 15 minutes. The last bus on Sunday is scheduled to leave the airport at around 22:30. You will have to get off bus 783 at Institutul Meteorologic (Meteorological Institute) bus stop (wherefrom you may easily notice the building of the National Meteorological Administration). In that very bus stop you will wait for bus no. 301, which passes every 5-10 minutes. Then you must get off at bus stop Apicola (the 4 th bus-stop, after an approximately 10-minutes trip). As you get off, you will readily see on your right, behind an OMV gas station, the massive building of the 4-star Phoenicia Grand Hotel. By taxi: From the Arrivals hall get out directly, at the same level. The official taxies are labeled with Fly Taxi and the price is 4.00 lei/km. The travel price is around 50 RON (~15 ). Sometimes problems can occur with foreigners, so we recommend asking the driver in advance about the travel price. ADMINISTRATION FROM PHOENICIA GRAND HOTEL As to exit the hotel, walk straight ahead and cross the road (which will very likely undergo repair at the time of the meeting). Approximately vis-à-vis the hotel is bus stop Apicola, where from you must take bus no. 301 and get off at bus stop Institutul Meteorologic (Meteorological Institute). As you get off, cross the road, walk briefly ahead, under the traffic passage, and make another cross. You will see, in front of you, the buildings of the National Meteorological Administration.

3 HOW TO REACH THE CLASS HOTEL FROM THE AIRORT price for this card is 7 lei/2 trips (~ 1,8 equivalent) and it has to be validated on the machines near the door. The succession interval of bus 783 is around 15 minutes. The last bus on Sunday is scheduled to leave the airport at around 22:30. You will have to ask the driver to stop at bus-stop POD BANEASA, which is not a usual stop. As you get off bus 783, follow the rounded turn right on the Constatantin Dobrogeanu Gherea. Cross the street and walk parallel to the lake; you will notice an indicator for Class Hotel. Turn left on Garlei Street and after some tens of meters you will find the hotel. By taxi: From the Arrivals hall get out directly, at the same level. The official taxies are labeled with Fly Taxi and the price is 4.00 lei/km. The travel price is around 50 RON (~15 equivalent). Cross the highway, turn left and you will find bus-stop POD BANEASA, almost vis-a-vis the place you have got off when you came from the airport. You can see a placard with the bus stop name and numbers on a post. Take either one of busses 148, 149, 304, any of them is suited, (1.30 lei for a single-trip ticket) and get off at INSTITUTUL METEOROLOGIC bus-stop (third stop from POD BANEASA ). As you get off, cross the road, walk briefly ahead, under the bridge, and make another cross. You will see, in front of you, the buildings of the National Meteorological Administration. Averescu, till you reach Euro Hotels International (marked on the map as.) If the bus stops and you get off after crossing the square, you have to walk backwards to the Arch of Triumph square. Then turn slightly to the left and walk briefly in a semi circle, till you reach Blvd. A Averescu. Walk the left-hand sine of Blvd. Averescu, till you reach Euro Hotels International (marked on the map as ). ADMINISTRATION FROM EURO HOTELS INTERNATIONAL As you exit the hotel, you walk on Blvd. A. Averescu towards the Arch of Triumph square. Then you encircle the square and you reach a bus stop at the entrance in a park. That bus stop is across the road, from the place you had got off when coming from the airport. PUBLIC TRANSPORT Magnetic cards are only for use in 783 express bus. For other buses you must buy different tickets from dedicated kiosks ( RATB ) generally located near the main bus stops. CURRENCY The Romanian currency is the LEU. The LEU underwent denomination on 1 July 2005, when four zeroes were cut from its former value. At present, the official exchange rate is around 4,30 Lei for 1. Private exchange offices operate slightly different rates. At the airport, we advice you to exchange only a small amount of money (10 Euros or so), especially for local travel tickets. When you reach the exit hall of the airport, you will notice guiding panels, showing you the way to the exchange office. There are also ATMs for currency exchange operations. Credit cards are generally accepted in the larger cities. Keep your receipts. You might need them when you return home. Banks are opened Monday through Friday

5 CLIMATE FEATURES In mid March Bucharest experiences an average air temperature of 3.5ºC, with mean maxima of 8 9ºC and mean minima of -1 1ºC and an average air moisture of 79%. It is noteworthy that snowfalls and snow layer accumulation are not exceptional events for Bucharest at that time of the year.
