METRIC SERIES Can be solvent cemente to each other an to pipes in the same material type an size provie that the tolerances are in accorance with the stanars on page 3. A strong, ense type of solvent cement recommene especially for large iameter fittings where the clearance may be tight ue to the ovaling effect. Such tolerances anyhow, in orer to guarantee a perfect seal shoul never excee 0.6 mm using ense-type solvent cement an 0.3mm with a flui-type solvent cement. In orer to obtain a perfect joint, it is recommene that the manufacturer s instruction are strictly followe. Suggeste metho of jointing using solvent cement. a. Cut the pipe square an chamfer the ens at 45º. Remove all traces of grease, oil an irt. Clean both pipe an fittings using a clean cloth an iluents (methyl ethyl ketone) b. Mark the epth of entry on the pipe an using a suitable size brush apply solvent cement to both the fitting an the pipe c. Immeiately insert the pipe into the fitting an hol securely for a minute to allow etching to occur. Clean away any excess solvent cement from the newly jointe fitting an pipe surfaces e. It is recommene that the newly jointe fittings are not subjecte to any internal pressure or movement for at least 24 hours to allow curing of the joint to take place THREADED SERIES Fittings in rigi PVC of the threae series or of the aaptor series can be screwe to each other or to pipes an other threae parts. In orer to obtain easy screwing an perfect seal, the use of high quality PTFE tape is recommene. The use of hemp, tow an lint, usually employe for metal fittings, is to be absolutely avoie. Such materials, contrary to what happens with PTFE, are not rejecte by coupling even when use in excess, cause female fitting to expan in such a way as to cause breakage both uring the assembly an later uring operation.
