4 How does it work: We take a standard Common Rail Diesel Engine We add a hydrogen injector housing to the inlet We take control of the engine electronics We use the pilot injection function as the ignition source Hydrogen supply line Hydrogen Injectors and injector block We control the engine load using H2 quantity We use EGR, Boost pressure, and Diesel fuel to control the NOx 4

8 WHY HYDROGEN Hydrogen offers a low carbon renewable Fuel It is the most abundant fuel that s available on or off the planet It is an inherently safe fuel Using H2 in the internal combustion engine over comes many barriers CO2 Renewables generation Range Offers 200mile + Diesel Range Re charge time 1 to 3 minutes Fuel Cell better Yes, but this is a enabler for FC Value Lower cost than electric and much lower cost than Fuel Cells Offers a low carbon solution and makes sense if you have a value to carbon

15 Fuel Consumption Summary Average fuel consumption with Full Vehicle Performance 49.1 miles/kg of H2 and 88 mpg Diesel Average fuel consumption in ECO mode 51 miles/kg 144 mpg Diesel Total energy use in performance mode 4367 kj/mi (56% H2) Total energy use in Eco mode 3535 kj/mi (70% H2) Comparative energy use in Diesel 38.3 mpg and 47.3 mpg Average speed 31 mph
16 Economics of H2 Use In the short term, if your overriding need is Pence/mile STICK with DIESEL! Low Carbon is still Low Volume!!!!!!!! If you have a need to reduce your carbon emissions, a commercial advantage from reducing your carbon foot print or a strong moral drive, then H2 makes sense Electrolyser can provide H2 at ~ 6.00/kg, dispensed. This is equivalent to the Diesel price. Or industrial grade H2 can cost a lot less but would need to be purchased in high volumes. There is a vehicle on-cost, but when viewed in terms of the full operating cost of a vehicle the additional capital outlay is acceptable, if you have a commercial need to reduce carbon
