This 1969 Olds Delta 88, owned by Jim and Cindy Oberlanier from Bellingham, was a hit at the Second Annual BOP Show on Aug. 30. Even though we had some rain, they did not put the top up. When asked how the Delta 88 came to be painted in such a bright color of green, Cindy told us that the color was a mistake. The company that painted the car did not mix the correct paint code. When asked why they did not ask for the car to be repainted, Cindy replied, We liked it! So did the rest of the participants at the BOP Show. Despite the weather, the Buick and Pontiac Clubs brought a great selection of cars from their chapters. Photos of the cars that did attend the show are on pages 6 and 7. A record was set for the number of days over 80 degrees with 51 days including six straight days over 90 degrees. Hopefully, you were able to attend many car shows because of the great weather. With fall beginning this week, we will be planning events for the coming months. At our October 4 th meeting we will discuss the election of officers for 2016 and our Christmas dinner. Several sites are being considered for the Christmas dinner. Please try to attend this chapter meeting as your input is valued. Attendance at the BOP Show on Aug. 30 was lower than we expected due to the threat of rain that kept a number of member s cars at home. The 15 car show enthusiasts that did attend had a great time. We have reserved the last Sunday in August next year for the Third Annual BOP Show. Better weather would be great! This past Sunday, a number of chapter members visited the Museum of Flight Everett. We were treated to the knowledge of aircraft history and travel by Tom Cathcart, the museum curator. Tom s expertise brought airplane history to life. In 2016, the Museum of Flight will open a new 140,000 square foot building at the Boeing Field site which will house the original 727, the first 747 and a 777. We will plan a visit to this venue and you will not want to miss it! Shine your Olds and join us! We were pleased that the Buick and Pontiac Chapters had a number of cars in the show. Jose asked if we were planning to continue with a show in Of course we said yes and our Sunday in August 2016 is reserved. Jose said that he has a list of 10 or more clubs waiting for an open date. We are keeping ours!! October Chapter Meeting This meeting is important! We will need to nominate officers for 2016 for the election in November. We will also be discussing the Christmas dinner, time and location. Also, Ed Straw is checking with the owners of the Country Village. There is a possibility the property could be sold. If so, we might need to consider moving our Zone Show back to Edmonds. Ed will have information for us to make a decision. The October chapter meeting will be at the Newport Way Library on the 4 th at 1pm. September 20 Museum of Flight Visit This was a great tour. The knowledge and wit of Tom Cathcart, our host and museum curator made the afternoon a memorable event. Photos of the tour are in this newsletter on pages 12 and 13. 5
