1 THE PUGET SOUND ROCKET MARCH 2 Newsletter of the Puget Sound Olds Club An Official Chapter of the Oldsmobile Club of America August 2007 The 2007 Olds Nationals in Bowling Green, KY are history and what a great journey it was. Those attending from the Puget Sound Olds Club were Greg & Cathye Hinton, Erik & Vicki Martinson, Dave & Sherry Soball and Ed & Pam Konsmo. The Martinson s left a few days earlier in their new 2007 Buick Lucerne (it s as close to a new Olds as you can get today), the Soball s came by aircraft and the Hinton s and Konsmo s caravanned together pulling trailers. The 2007 Nationals was one of the largest in recent years with over 400 cars registered and a full swap meet field of more than 75 vendors. For the first time ever, the OCA hosted drag racing at a nearby race track. Last year the Board of Directors voted to offer $500 first place and $150 second place in three classes to OCA members who raced. It was a very successful event. The bracket concept was used and if you ran too fast, you lost even if you beat the other car! The drag racing family of racers was very pleased with the OCA supporting their event. It is a very rewarding experience. The dates are August so start planning now. Puget Sound Oldsmobile Club August
