12 installation and operation recommendation switchgear ageing withstandinanmv substation depends on 3 main factors H The need for proper implementation of connections: the new cold slip --- on and retractable technologies offer ease of installation, thereby promoting withstand over time. Their design enables operation in polluted environments with harsh atmospheres. H Theinfluenceoftherelative humidity factor: installation of heating resistors is essential in climates with high relative humidity and large temperature differences. H Ventilation control: the grids must be sized according to power loss in the substation. These grids must only be placed near the transformer, so as to prevent air circulating on the MV switchboard. operation We strongly recommend that you carry out at regular intervals (at least roughly every 2 years) afew operating cycles on the switching devices. Outside normal operating conditions (between -- 5 C and 40 C, absence of dust, corrosive gas, etc.), we recommend that you contact our Groupe Schneider Electric service centre in order to examine the measures to be taken to ensure proper installation operation. Our service centre is at your disposal at all times: H To conduct an installation diagnosis. H To suggest the appropriate maintenance operations. H To offer you maintenance contracts. Remove the knock-outs. Cubicle equipped with an LV cable trough. (option) Proceed in the same manner after removing the trough top plate. Refit the LV compartment cover, respecting the indications of each of the cubicles. fitting the earth bars Bag S1 : Connect the earth bars together. (HM8 x 30 bolts) Earth the substation frames in either of these two ways EN revision : 01

18 storing the operating lever Fix the operating lever clamp on the wall at a convenient location. (screw not supplied) fitting fuses in a QMB cubicle Reminder : Check the condition of the fuses before fitting them. Lift the cover of the upper field distributor with the top of the fuse. Insert the bottom of the fuse all the way into the lower annular contact Nota : -- When changing a fuse, change all 3 fuses. -- Do not re--used fuses that have already been used. Then fit the top of the fuse in the upper contact and check that the field distributor cover is properly closed. We advise against holding the fuse in the middle EN revision : 01 17

19 with the grain assembly Fit striker type fuses that actuate the opening of the switch when they blow. Percuteur Striker pin Schlagstift Percussore The striker end of the fuse is marked. Thefusecharacteristicsand direction of mounting are printed on the fuse. Turn the fuse so that the label is in front. (striker at the top) transformer protection Fuse ratings for SM6 protection units such as the QMB depend, among other things, on the following criteria: H service voltage. H transformer rating. H fuse technology (manufacturer). Different types of fuses with medium loaded striker may be installed: ---Solefuse fuses as per standard UTE NFC Fusarc fuses as per IEC recommendation and DIN dimensions Example: for the protection of a 400 kva transformer at 10 kv, select either Solefuse fuses rated 43 A or Fusarc fuses rated 50 A. 22 start up instructions checks before energising H check that nothing has been left in the connection compartment. H for all phases, check that the fuse has been properly fitted and that the field distributor covers have been properly closed. Refit the front panel, and the nylstop screw. operating test before energising See operating instructions section. Operate the earthing switch and the switch several times. energising the lower busbars As soon as the busbars have been energised, the voltage indicator lamps should go on EN revision : 01 21

25 fuse indications on the cubicles Fuses OK. (white indicator) One or more fuses not OK. (red indicator) padlocking Padlocking of motor mechanism. (option) Lock out the motor mechanism using a padlock before opening the switch. The motor mechanism can be locked in or out using the padlocks. Padlock the switch in open or closed position using 1, 2 or 3 padlocks. (dia. 8 mm) Padlock the earthing switch in open or closed position using 1, 2 or 3 padlocks. 28 maintenance instructions preventive maintenance, cleaning instructions and power --- up If necessary: contact the Schneider Electric group service centre. We strongly recommend that you carry out at regular intervals (at least roughly every 2 years) afew operating cycles on the switching devices. CAUTION Never lubricate the disconnector operating mechanism. If necessary: contact the Schneider Electric group service centre. In normal operating conditions (temperature between C and40 C) no special maintenance is required. CAUTION Never use solvents and alcohol. We recommend that you inspect each compartment (cable, fuse, busbar)* at regular intervals according to environmental conditions. If the insulating parts are dusty, that you remove the dust using a dry cloth. example : In harsher conditions (aggressive atmosphere, dust, temperature less than C or greater than 40 C) consult the nearest Schneider Electric service centre EN revision : 01 27

29 corrective maintenance Replacing the fuses: H the cubicle must be de-energised. H the switch must be open. H the earthing switch must be closed. H Unscrew panel nylstop screw. H open the front panel for access to the fuses. Important: standard IEC states that all three of the MV fuses should be changed whenever one of them blows. First remove the top of the fuse. Then lift the fuse out of its bottom support and remove it completely. To fit the new fuses, refer to the sectiononfittingfusesinaqmb cubicle. replacing a voltage indicator block Pull out the voltage indicator block. the switchboard can remain energised options (please consult us) H H H H H keyed interlocks. release coils. auxiliary contacts. motor mechanism. 50 W heating element. H enlarged LV compartment or additional LV enclosure. H contact for fuse blown indication. H undervoltage or shunt type opening release EN revision : 01

30 trouble-shooting chart H voltage indicator not illuminated H check that the incoming cables are live H H H H check the voltage indicator block check that the switch is closed check that the fuses have been fitted check that the fuses are in working order H front panel cannot be opened or closed H check that the earthing switch is closed H check that the panel nylstop screw is unscrewed H earthing switch cannot be operated H check that the switch is open H switch cannot be operated H check that the earthing switch is open motor mechanism (option) (*) operation is guaranteed for rated voltage ± 15%. H electrical operation impossible H check the LV fuses (CIP2) S13 = switch lever insertion hole S14 = earthing switch lever insertion hole H (*) manual operation impossible following an electrical closing cycle for a voltage level less than ---15% rated value H (*) insertion of lever impossible following an electrical closing cycle for a voltage level greater than +15% rated value H check electrical interlocks S (lever insertion) H check that the earthing switch operating shaft has reached its end position H check that contact S14 has not disabled the power supply and re-adjust if necessary H check the configuration of the CIP1 subassembly (see diagram) H use the operating lever to apply a torque in the closing direction until the end position is reached; manual operation should now be possible H if possible, carry out an electrical operation, using a backup power source if necessary H to allow insertion of the operating lever, push the back of the switch shaft in the closing direction using a large screwdriver; (for safety reasons, remember to first lock out the electrical operating mechanism; if necessary, push up and hold the locking blade that actuates contact S13) spare parts H fuses ( UTE or DIN ). 31 recovery of SF6 gas at end of life for disconnector cubicle The SF6 must be removed before any dismantling operation can be carried out in compliance with the procedures described in IEC and according to the following instructions. The gas must be treated in compliance with IEC H volume of gas to be recovered: 35 litres H internal gauge pressure: 40 kp A NB : SF6 gas recycling at the end of circuit-- breaker life, refer to its instruction for use. Remove the cover (A) from the control cabinet. control cover access B Remove the control cover (B). Remove the 3 screws retaining the operating mechanism. Cut the wiring to remove the operating mechanism. Drill 2 holes in the filler valve safety cap 4 mm, centreline 20 mm, max. depth 4 mm EN revision : 01

32 CAUTION pump the gas for at least 15 minutes. C Using a spanner wrench, remove the safety cap from the valve. Connect the special pumping equipment (C) EN revision : 01 31
