All personnel must be instructed to remove any malfunctioning equipment. 2. Ensure that all employees who use this tool are trained in the proper use of this tool and are aware of the dangers that may arise if they do not follow procedures outlined in this brochure. 3. Enclosed are four (4) copies of NOTICE TO OPERATORS, MAINTENANCE AND CLEANUP PER- SONNEL. Post one copy on the employees bulletin board; give one copy to the operator(s); give one copy to the maintenance foreman; and give one copy to the sub -contract cleanup / internal cleanup foreman. Additional copies will be provided upon request. 4. The tool is designed and intended to be powerful. This fact should be obvious to your employees, but you must emphasize it to them. 5. Never make modifications or alterations to the tool. Replace any missing or illegible labels. 6. Ensure that proper procedures are established in accordance with OSHA s lockout/tagout procedures (29 CFR ) to prevent accidental startup or release of stored energy. 7. Follow our installation and maintenance instructions for proper installation and care of the tool. 8. Avoid injury. Do not permit the tool to be misused. 9. If you resell or distribute a Jarvis product, you must provide the purchaser with the appropriate safety sheets and tool brochure. Additional copies of safety sheets and tool brochures will be provided upon request.

SAFETY MESSAGES TO OPERATORS, MAINTENANCE AND CLEANUP PERSONNEL REMOVE ANY MALFUNCTIONING TOOL FROM SERVICE REPORT ANY PROBLEMS TO YOUR SUPERVISOR 1. Disconnect the air hose in accordance with OSHA s lockout/tagout procedures (29 CFR ) before sharpening blades. 2. Disconnect the air hose in accordance with OSHA s lockout/tagout procedures (29 CFR ) before performing any repair or maintenance. 3. Disconnect the air hose - or have the air hose disconnected - in accordance with OSHA s lockout/tagout procedures (29 CFR ) before performing any cleanup. 4. Disconnect the air hose when the tool is not being used. 5. Never put fingers, hands or other parts of the body on the cutting edge, in the cutting path or in the path of the moving links. 6. Test the tool prior to use or daily. Depress each trigger separately and the blades should not close. Depress one trigger, then pause one second and depress the other trigger and the blades should not close. Repeat this procedure reversing the triggers. Depress both triggers simultaneously and the blades should close. With the blades closed, release one trigger and the blades should open. Continue holdingthedepressedtrigger andthendepresstheother trigger. The bladesshould not close. Repeat this procedure holding the other trigger. If the tool malfunctions, remove it from service and report or repair it immediately. 7. Never depress the triggers unless you want to use or test the tool. 8. Jarvis part number is available. 2 Suspend the air control circuit in a convenient location using the supplied bracket (item 52). 2.1 Install air control circuit in a horizontal position. 2.1 Make sure that the compressed air supply is at the proper pressure and that the lubricator is up to the full mark. (Use Jarvis Air Mist Lubricators Oil; if using a conventional air mist lubricator: set the feed rate at 8-10 drops per minute; if using a micro fog air mist lubricator*: set the feed rate at 100 drops per minute). *Almost all air mist lubricators are micro fog air mist lubricators. 2.2 Make sure the dual anti -tie down control handles (the main and the side handles) are working correctly. Depress each trigger separately and the blades should not close. Depress one trigger, then pause one second and depress the other trigger and the blades should not close. Repeat this procedure reversing the triggers. Depress both triggers simultaneously (within one half second of each other) and the blades should close. With the blades closed, release one trigger and the blades should open. Continue holding the depressed trigger and then depress the other trigger. The blades should not close. Repeat this procedure holding the other trigger. If the tool malfunctions, remove it from service and report the problem to your supervisor immediately. 3 Make the necessary air connection. 3.1 The required compressed air supply is ft 3 (3.6 L) at 90 psi (6.2 bar) per cycle. 2.3 Make sure that the TBC moves freely on the balancer. 3 Making the cut: 3.2 An air regulator must be installed in the air supply line. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS 1 Connect the air hose. 3.1 Place the TBC around the hyoid bone. 3.2 Depress both triggers simultaneously to close the blades. 3.3 Release either or both triggers to open the blades.

7 maintenance instructions page 7 of 8 MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT: ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE AIR HOSE IN ACCORDANCE WITH OSHA S LOCKOUT/TAGOUT PROCEDURES (29 CFR ) BEFORE SHARPEN- ING, INSTALLING, OR REMOVING BLADES. ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE AIR HOSE IN ACCORDANCE WITH OSHA S LOCKOUT/TAGOUT PROCEDURES (29 CFR ) BEFORE PERFORMING ANY MAINTE- NANCE OR REPAIRS. 1 DAILY: 1.1 Make sure the dual anti -tie down control handles (the main and the side handles) are working correctly. Depress each trigger separately and the blades should not close. Depress one trigger, then pause one second and depress the other trigger and the blades should not close. Repeat this procedure reversing the triggers. Depress both triggers simultaneously (within one half second of each other) and the blades should close. With the blades closed, release one trigger and the blades should open. Continue holding the depressed trigger and then depress the other trigger. The blades should not close. Repeat this procedure holding the other trigger. If the tool malfunctions, repair or remove it from service immediately. Note: connect the air hose to perform this operation only. 2 BLADE REMOVAL: 2.1 Remove (2) cotter pins (item 5). 2.2 Remove (2) connecting pins (item 2). 2.3 Remove hex lock nut (item 24). 2.4 Remove pivot pin (item 3). 2.5 Remove cutting blades (item 1) and shim bearings (item 7). 2.6 Inspect all parts for wear and replace them if necessary. 2.7 Inspect cutting blades (item 1) for wear and sharpen if necessary. 3 TBC DISASSEMBLY FOR SEAL REPLACE- MENT: 3.1 Follow steps Remove hex head screw and split lock washer (items 48 and 47). 3.3 Remove trigger guard (item 46). 3.4 Line up piston shaft (item 12) so that the remaining connecting pin (item 2) lines up with the hole in housing (item 22). 3.5 Remove cotter pin (item 5). 3.6 Remove connecting pin (item 2) The connecting pin must be pushed out from the smaller hole in the bottom of the housing through the larger hole in the top of the housing. 3.7 Remove connecting links (item 6). 3.8 Disconnect hose at connector (item 20). 3.9 Remove two hex head screws (item 28) and washers (item 29) Unscrew cylinder cover (item 17) Push on the connecting pin end of piston shaft (item 12) Pull both piston (item 13) and piston shaft (item 12) out of housing (item 22).
